- Q: I have a half bath with no exterior wall, how far can I run a flex hose from a vent to an exterior wall? I could run it over the furnace, past the washer and dryer, which are enclosed in a bifold door closet off the kitchen and outside via the same wall the dryer is vented toThis would be about 20 feet - is that too far to go? The other option would be to vent it to the crawl space but that would mean removing part of a wall and redrywalling to do that, I can do that but would prefer a simpler way - its a town house so only 2 exterior walls to work with, and only one that is a viable optionHumidity isnt a problem, the cats litter box is the problem - thanks
- I just installed one with a 2.5 foot length of flex tube to my roofBut if you have to install vent tubing that far I would suggest using solid aluminum tubing with as little bending as possibleThe cheap acordian tubing would create way to much turbulance and render the fan very in effectiveIf you use solid tubing you would also be free to install a 3 inline fan down stream of the main bathroom fan on the same circuit for maximum effeciency.
- Q: okay so the city gave us all a recycle bin similiar to the big rolling trash can, and really ive only been putting paper and cardboard and im wondering if i can put electronics like AAA and AA batteries, toy laptops and plastic in it, and also what else can i put in it that i might not know about?
- Most local places have different rulesYou should call the recycling centerOur local takes glass, aluminum cans, paper, and the other cansWe have to separate and take it to the centerI wish we had someone to pick it up that didn't chargeCereal boxes, soda boxes and most plastic water bottles(no lid) can be recycled.
- Q: I just bought a used Lund 14' aluminum and found a used Honda 9.9 4-strokeThe Honda is a long shaft 20quot; and the Lund has a 15quot; transomI know this is probably not ideal, however will it work? Would I need a jack-plate or will there be some wiggle room in mounting the engine? Thanks
- It will work, but your shallow drive will be 5 deeper, and your full down position will be 5 closer to the bottomThe additional leverage will lift the front alarmingly from starting unless you put weight up forward, such as the fuel tank - so be aware of that, and you will probably be a couple of knots slower than an identical engine with a short shaftIt is not safe to try and mount the engine higher on the transomYou should not expect blinding performance from that engine on that boat - rather it will plane out with one, and possibly two smaller adults but will start to be a bit marginal at that load if you have some extra gear or a head wind evenOne up you might get into the mid teens speed wise, still these are reasonable engines with not many vices as long as they were serviced regularlyThermostat must be fitted, the lower cylinder can go out of round on the earlier ones - if they are flogged and not serviced they get fairly sluggish and a compression check should be done to check, as continuous WOT throttle settings at can burn exhaust valvesThe earlier ones seemed to have a weak yet reliable spark and need the plug gap set close (I think .8 mm from memory - check that.) per the manual, and they did have a reputation for salting up if not well flushed out regularlyCam belt should be replaced if perished - for that you need the manual for sureWhen water pump impellors failed they tended to take out the pump housing also, the water pipe grommets also need changing to keep water pressure while trolling or idling and they did like to shed the vanes when the impellor fails - generally you need to get them out of the pipes and block evenI still like them, but they are basically the same 222 cc engine as the 8 with an extra 500 rpm, which may explain why they don't like continuous flat out running - the slightest fueling drop and you are ultra-lean.
- Q: My daughter is 6 in december and shes asked for a pink fairy princess party.just for her girly friends.food is simple.pink food lol but i have no idea what sort of activities to do?for her 4th party she had bouncy castles and she loved it, and for her 5th last year she had a magic show and discoboth boys and girls were invited so everything was unisex.she loves face painting, bouncy castles etc but do you think she'll be too old for this when shes 6, shes one of the oldest in her class.i already have ideas for party bags so thats pretty much sorted i just dont know what to do for the 3 hour duration of the partyits in a village hall and there will be 16 girls (maximum) including herany help would be much appreciated.Thank you )
- You mentioned that this was for her girl friends, so how about spending some of the time making pink princess crowns or tiaras? You can get supplies very reasonable at Walmart or any craft store like Hobby Lobby or Michael'sYou won't need much more than some pink ribbon, a bag of assorted gems, glitter glue and a base to stick it all on like a hard plastic headbandA long strip of aluminum foil rolled up and circled end to end works well also for a baseGirls that age love to make things and it should take at least half an hour to an hour for them to do thisIf you use a glue gun, be careful, they can get hotThey could also make bracelets or necklaces, buy some assorted beads and cord of some type for them to string them onFor princess wands, buy dowel rods or pretty pencils, have them glue ribbons and either cut out star shapes from fun foam or buy precut starsHave fun :)

- Q: Venison sausage and elk meat question?
- Venison and elk are lean meats with little or no fatIt's going to be dark red in color with little or no trimYou should always take a whiff of the meat if you have any questions regarding freshnessAlso, don't wrap meat in aluminum foil and freeze itWrap it in seran wrap or better yet put it in zip lock bags to ensure that there won't be freezer burnFor flavor, the best thing to do for meat (whatever cut, or animal) is to cook it fresh within a few days without freezing.
- Q: i know you can beat the crap out of Al frames, but how do you treat and care for carbon frames? im thinking particularly about the Specialized Epic carbon.it just feels so frail and im a bit concerned rinding on something that feels so fragilemaybe im underestimating how strong it is, can you compare it to something of similar strength?
- Hmthats an interesting questionI don't think that CF frames require MORE maintenance than aluminum, but they do have DIFFERENT needsFirst, lets go to worst scenarioIf either frame is crashed it must be inspected thoroughly prior to ridingIf either have ANY KIND of damage (dents, cracks, etc) then it is bye bye frameNeither CF or aluminum can handle dents or cracks without eventually failingAs a general looksie, every time a CF frame gets a scratch it must IMMEDIATELY be sealedI think Trek suggests nail polish which is as good as anythingCF can separate and also absorb moisture which will compromise the frameBoth frames should be checked over weekly for cracks, especially at the bottom bracket/downtube/chainstay area and at the chainstay reinforcement (little piece right behind the bottom bracket, between the chainstays)It also pays to do a close check at any suspension pivot pointsCF and alum both stress over time and will eventually show wear and failJust a fact of lifeI have also seen headtubes crack occasionally Regarding strength, there are no worries with either materials but it IS much easier to puncture or crack CF (it doesn't dent), while aluminum tends to fare better on impact That being said, aluminum may not show any signs of stress or failure at all until it suddenly doesThis is called sudden catastrophic failure which can and does happen especially on frames that push the envelope as far as tubing wall thickness and weightCannondale was (and maybe still is) well known for cracked tubes and failure without warningI used to ride an S Works (Specialized custom) Ultimate framehad CF tubes and Ti lugsI had about 11,000 miles on it (just over a year) before I was no longer comfortable riding itstarted to get loose feelingNow I ride either steel (Reynolds 853 or 753 depending on race or tour) or Paketa Magnesium having had my fill of the empty promises of both aluminum and CF.
- Q: Okay there's these things called quot;peanut rollsquot; around where I live and they're made with some kind of cream stuff and then you dip them in chocolate and roll in chopped up peanutsI can't find a recipe for them anywhere and I assume it's because they're a quot;localquot; kind of dessertAny one know any recipes?
- My kittens do this as well and it's because they're trying to get the litter off their pawsWhen I had a litter box dome with the stair entry the stairs would knock it all off and they never did thatSo that's my only guess! Wow, you must go through a lot of litterI change mine out once a week but clean it a couple times a dayWhat you can get are these little foamy mats that little kids have and put those on the way so she's scratching that instead of your wall.
