- Q: I am trying to replace my kitchen faucet. I have done this before, but never at this house. I can not for the life of me get the old faucet out of there. The nuts are too old and rusted, I have tried a high quality penetrating oil, that didn't seem to work. I am also not too comfortable using a torch, so that's out of the question. There was advice on another website that said just to use a good drill and drill through the nuts since I'm replacing them anyway. I'm not sure if this is really a good idea, but I am at my wits end!The other problem I'm having is I can't figure out how to get the old mounting parts off either. I can take pics with my phone if anyone needs to see them.Any help would be appreciated!!
- First of all, you need the right tools for the job. You will need a "basin wrench" which is a long wrench (12-18") that has a head that flips for either tightening or loosening the nuts. This wrench will keep your hands below the bottom of the sink and help prevent "bloody knuckles syndrome". If the nuts are frozen to the point that a basin wrench won't turn them, use a "mini hacksaw" to cut one side of each of the nuts that hold your faucet to the sink. If the nuts are made from brass, this will be relatively easy being that brass is a soft metal. Once you cut the nuts, use a flat screwdriver to open the gaps created by hacksawing through the nuts. At this point, the nuts should be removed easily. When you are lying under the sink and looking up at the faucet base, BE SURE TO WEAR SAFETY GLASSES! When you put on your new faucet, be sure to lightly coat all threads with a good quality plumber's grease. This will make repairs/removal alot easier next time.
- Q: Want to wash your hair in the basin, but the leader is too low, how to do it?
- If you want to install a shower faucet, you install a two-handle shower faucet, the cost of this is relatively low, but this shower to use G3 / 4 teeth, so that you can match the water pipe, you can also with shower Of the hose, it may be dual!
- Q: What is the difference between a kitchen faucet and a basin faucet?
- Kitchen faucets are generally the first upward and then bent down, you can level the rotation, so wash the dishes to wash the big space;
- Q: Double trough vegetable bowl on the mouth of the mouth is not the size of the uniform? That is no matter what kind of faucet can be used?
- You mean that the reserved nozzle is directly the same, is the same, followed by a rubber pad pad cover. The pipe is also the standard diameter
- Q: What is the difference between a single hole and a double hole in a bathroom cabinet?
- Elected to their favorite on the line slightly, you want to good quality to choose the brand, more secure. Good quality is not a single hole
- Q: I got a new faucet with sink and the faucet is not positioned over the drain, also water cloudy. Kindly advise...
- Most of the time they are; however, if it's not it should still drain properly. Sounds like you might have some sort of blockage in the drain, or that it's not venting properly.
- Q: Why the leading and the basin to be supporting, fix it is not up
- Because the industry does not have a unified standard standards, each production of various, especially some of the larger brand manufacturers in order to monopolize the market deliberately avoid the commonly used specifications, making customers to buy their basin must match the leading, or to buy the leading package Basin.
- Q: I Just bought a new kohler faucet to replace my old but the hoses on the new ones are short. It has a 3/8 connector and my old one had a 5/8 connector...the old hose is pinched into the shutoff valve tap so i cannot remove it...what can i do to connect the old pipe with the new one...please help....home depot was no help
- You fit a 5/8 reducer down to 3/8th.
- Q: Table basin basin distance from the basin
- Should consider the water situation, who will lead to the lack of water by the edge of the basin, the use of inconvenient, leading to easy to splash on the table.
- Q: i try to fix it myself.i can't seem to unscrew that white plastic ring, it was really tight. so what should i do now? should i hire a professional?
- If your faucet is leaking out the spigot you're working on the wrong part of the unit. This is a tightening hold down nut that threads up onto the water feed pipe and is most likely corroded or rusted in place so bad that the only way to get it off will be to crack it with a cold chisel and twist it off, or get a Dremel tool with a cutter wheel on it and cut it off that way. Either way, wear safety glasses while removing it as rust particles in the eyeballs are not fun. If the leak was coming from underneath the sink, under the faucet, then yes, you'll need to replace the entire fixture. If you do, when you put it back together and put the new nuts on where this one comes off, put a little vaseline on the threads before you put the nut on, it will make it go on easier and certainly, if you ever have to do this again, it will come off easier.
