- Q: Hi, I recently replaced a washer on my hot water faucet and now when running the hot and cold water to shower etc. both run for a bit of time and then I hear a thunk noise (loud enough to hear above the noise of water running) and the hot water will drop off as if it is turned off. I then turn on more and the water runs with no problem. This is constant every time I use it. Any ideas. I believe my cold water slows down also but cannot be sure. I have two handle faucet with a pull up button (for shower) on spout. Sometimes the water after turning it up will come out of the faucet head alittle as if the water is pushing out where ever it can. Thank you for any help you can give me.
- a rubber washer can warm up with hot water and swell which shuts the water off. That usually means you have the wrong washer in there. since u already threw the old one away lots of luck.

- Q: I'm having a problem with my 35154678 year old bathroom faucet.Leaking has always been a slight problem but I've always somehow been able to get it to stop if I close the faucet REALLY tightly. However, today I tried to turn the faucet shut, and the thing just popped and doesn't stop turning! It goes around and around from weak water flow to strong water flow, without the usual "resistance" before the water finally stops. So basically, I can't shut off the water flow by using the usual faucets and I have to use the main faucets underneath the sink.Gee, I sure hope I'm making sense.I guess it is time for a replacement, but can anyone tell me what might have broken to cause this? Will repairing this be as easy as simply replacing the O-rings, or do I need a plumber?
- It's best to just replace old faucets. Modern technology offers far superior valving than what you have. Call a plumber. Most plumbers will give you low cost or free estimate to repair or replace it and have enough experience to recommend what is best. Older faucets sometimes can be very difficult to replace, best to save your knunckles and let a pro take care of it. Avoid cheap faucets, ones that are made in Mexico or China. Expect to pay at least $ 100 for a good faucet. Good luck.

- You have to unscrew the white rings and pull out the faucet. Clean and dry the water from the sink and faucet. Then put plumber's putty around the bottom of the faucet and reattach it. Make sure it's tight because water leaking from the bottom of the faucet is what's causing the leak. This happens when water splashes in the lavy and around the faucet. That's how the water seeps through. If you can't take off the "white rings," Home Depot sells a plastic nut wrench for about $18, it's made by Rigid. It's the easiest way without breaking the white rings (nuts). Or buy a basin wrench for about $8-$10 for a generic model.
