- LED lights last around 50000 hours, whereas CFLs are about 10000 hours and incandescent last around 1000 hours. LED lights are also much more efficient than other light sources. An incandescent bulb emits energy at all different wavelengths, only about 10% of which is actual light. This means a 100 watt incandescent bulb will produce only about 10 watts of actual light. Most of the energy is infrared or heat. An LED bulb emits around 80% light, so a 100 watt LED bulb will emit 80 watts of light. That's why you can replace a 100 watt incandescent bulb with a 12 watt LED bulb 100 watt incandescent = 10 watts of light 12 watt LED = 9.6 watts of light The reason LED's last so much longer is that they have no filament to burn out. Since they run on DC, they have an electronic driver to convert the AC to DC. The electronic driver is usually what fails, due to its own overheating or normal life expectancy.
