- Q: Can you used colored light rays to stain things? I'm just super curious.
- Light does not stain a fabric. But, light can cause a chemical reaction causing bleaching of the fabric. Although a particular color light reflecting off a colored fabric does not change the color of the fabric, it can cause you to see a different color. Green light on white fabric looks green Red light on white fabric looks red. white light on red fabric looks red. Green light on white fabric looks green red light on green fabric looks black green light on red fabric looks black
- Q: whats better to use in a studio for models? i have hair lights, key light, etc, so why use a flash if i can use continuous lights?
- For me, strobes are much better than continuous lighting. Continuous lighting gave me some good results, but it was a lot more work and I had to be much more careful. The lights were hot as heck, hard to work around, always had to shoot on a tripod, aperture had to be wide open and the shutter was almost too slow. Strobes is a different story. Much more control, not hot, rarely use a tripod, can light a much larger area with much less equipment. As far as a flash per se, I never use my flash in the studio at all. There's always a wireless trigger on the hotshoe anyway, so it can't even pop up. The only reason to use it with continuous lights is to fill a little where the continuous lighting isn't cutting it. I never did with continuous lighting. It seemed to mess things up more than it helped. If you have good continuous lighting, you shouldn't ever need it.

- Light is light, whether it's from the sun or man-made. Although natural light is from the sun, so it will compose the whole spectrum - including visible and invisible (microwave, infrared) light.

- Yes they will and yes you can use LEDs. BUT.... different plants have different lighting requirements. They sell several different types of LEDs for plants, but for plants that would grow outside in full sun most growers would consider them inferior to more intense lighting, but they seem to offer good light output for wattage used and they can be had with different spectrum's designed to be more efficient than others. One brand that is popular is the 90watt. UFO design. They also have a 300 watt type. Depending on what your growing you might want to add supplemental lighting of a different type too.

- UV light is past violet on the light spectrum. You can't see it. UV light helps plants grow, and you would get a sunburn from it.
