When the green light to allow vehicles to pass, but the turning of the vehicle may not hinder the release of the straight vehicles, pedestrians.
Yellow light when a vehicle has crossed the stop line can continue to pass.
When the red light vehicular traffic.
In non-motor vehicle is not set intersection lights and crosswalk lights, bicycle and pedestrian lights should be in accordance with the instructions of motor vehicle traffic.
When the red light, turn right vehicle was released without prejudice to the vehicle, the case of pedestrians can pass.
- Q: I am getting my BSEE in a couple months and i'm curious as to what to expect or ask for. I am graduating from a good engineering school (UM Ann Arbor)
- Entry Level Electrical Engineer Salary
- Q: if you was recently shocked twice (bad enough that it went all the way from your fingers down to your toes) and then you had a headache and an occasional shooting pain through your arm would there be any reason for concern or is that just normal?and also, would there be any chance, that when you're touching water and metal in a very cold atmosphere (35degrees or so) that static electricity could cause that bad of a shock or would it definetly have to be some certain of electrical wiring problem?
- I am not sure where you received the shock. Was it static discharge or was is from wiring? Electrical discharge is always a grounding problem. When you get shocked, the electricity has found you as a shortest path to ground. In wiring, this is typically caused by exposed wiring due to stripped or worn insulation. This can also be caused by loose or bad connections where the phase wire is close to or touching the ground wire. If it is static, I have found that dry, cold weather substantially increases your chance of getting a severe static shock. Personally, I seem to be more subceptible to static shock than other people. I have gotten painful shocks from anything from car doors to blades of grass to running tap water, the kind of shock you can hear from another room. Lightning is actually a magnified form of static shock, whereas shock from wiring carries 60Hz of frequency and has a different effect on your body. If you received a shock from wiring and it went all the way through your body, the electrical source essentially pulsed through your body 120 times per second. This can actually cause your heart to try to beat 120 times, leading to cardiac arrest. Obviously, this did not happen to you, but there can be all kinds of strange physiological phenonema that can occur, such as the headaches you mentioned. I would not be too worried as these will eventually probably go away. I worked with a woman who once got a severe electrical shock from a piece of equipment that blew her away from a piece of machinery, and she had her period as a result. She recovered.
- Q: By non related I mean like not a minor in another engineering or computer science. I was thinking about possibly business. What do you think would be the best minor that would give me a better salary/job opportunity?
- Electrical Engineering is one of the hardest disciplines that you can undertake. It also, with experience, gives you a good credential for a powerful resume but, like most things, you need to be unique to maximize its value! Of course Electrical Engineering applies to many trades and professions, it is the true unique combination that makes the most powerful overall impact. Examples might be; EE and Law, EE and Medical, EE and Business, or EE and Aviation! An industry that dose a lot of research and development of medical equipment and is pron to large law suits would love to have an EE with a minor in Law and maybe a Dual major with a ME Degree as 50% of medical equipment is fluids! Controls are 90% electrical! An understanding of what generates most law suits and what defaults would reduce those possibilities would be very sought after. Don't forget to obtain the PE as this is what gives you the right to not only design but verify and authorize the design! It is an attractive addition to the EE degree but also comes with a lot of responsibility! The PE also implies experience and will take time to acquire! The really rare beast is the Engineer that can communicate in writing and face to face! Giving a technical presentation that informs, inspires, and persuades is rare and there are few Engineers that can accomplish it!!! Toastmasters is an International organization that you can use to hone your communication skills. It has inexpensive dues and you don't sell brooms or anything or do community service but you do work toward your goals of being an expert communicator!!!. When you come up with the combination of skills, make sure that they are who you are for they will be the image that you will project and what people will view you as and you want it to reflect who you really are!
- Q: during line to ground fault, is there really a current that will flow in the ground, how will the grounding rod help if there is no connection back to the source? please explain how grounding aids tripping of C.B's
- 1. The purpose of the grounding rod is to give electrical equipment and its housings a grounded reference point. Without this the voltages of these might go wandering off to indeterminate levels causing (in extreme cases) arcs to jump on to passers by or door handles to provide major or minor shocks. If there is a fault in equipment which causes an higher voltage part to come into contact with a grounded part then a current may flow into the grounding rod. The return path of this current is through the ground (earth) via another grounded point (e.g of the local supply transformer's star point) and thus into the transformer at its low voltage winding end. If the supply has no such grounding point (this would, by the way, be most odd but it is physically feasible) then there would be no fault current flow but the grounding would still provide a degree of security from high voltages.
- Q: I want to wire all my regular recepticles with #10 wire which I know I can use 30 amp breakers with. Does anyone carry 30 amp 120 volt recepticles or can I use the 20 amp recepticles? I can't get anyone at Home Depot in the electrical department to answer the phone. Best answer with a link to this item (if it exists) gets ten points. Please not a lowes link. I don't care to do business with them as I can never get anyone in my local store (Nederland, TX) to help me, while Home Depot has bent over backwards and done cartwheels to help me. Thanks.
- You want a NEMA 5-30R receptacle but they're hard to find because virtually no one uses them. You occasionally see one on an RV. These receptacles aren't compatible with normal 15- and 20-amp plugs, so I'm not seeing what you're trying to accomplish. I'd just run more 20-amp circuits if you really need a lot of power.
- Q: I m trying to repair some vintage audio equipment, and I notice these tissue like strips that hold the cables together, without being rolled on. What are those properly called, and do they come in rolls?
- Without see it, this is just a guess. Old wire used cotton as an insulator. It may also be cotton tie raps is you will. And no, they down sell that anymore. Up Date Even an old fart can learn something. champer is correct. It was called Friction Tape.
- Q: Considering Earth is being bombarded by cosmic radiation 24/7, is there a way to harness this energy from outer space and power homes with it? What kind of devices or equipment would make this possible?
- If you wish to know about how to harness electricity I suggest you read up on Nick Tesla who is responsible for the AC current we all use today. Tesla knew how to harness electrical from above but when he suggested to people like JP Morgan and George Westinghouse that electricity could serve mankind FREE of charge the big money funding Tesla ruined him. There is NO need to pay the outrageous electric rates and the lines and poles are useless also. All in the name of the mighty dollar. Edison was another whipdick who is claimed to have been very intelligent but I disagree as this prick killed defenseless animals in a feeble attempt to discredit Tesla's AC current. I get so pissed when this issue of electricity comes up. Pardon the rant.
- Q: Basically a reptile shop is selling some dangerous equipmet which I have brought. These include a un-ballasted fluorecent bulb unit (some home made unit using a plug a terminal and 2 end caps) (the vivarium looks burnt) (I wonder why :P) and they sold us a second hand starter unit (ballasted) which stank of smoke and had a 13 amp fuse however should have had a max 3 amp fuse. They are very un-knowledgeable about reptiles and the fuse to the starter unit looked burnt on the ends. I'm just worked about the safety of others who buy their equipment from there as I know for a fact most of it's dangerous. They sold me a 30w starter unit for a 15w bulb which I brought from them at the same time, any ideas who to contact about this unsafe store (I'm in the uk) thanks. :)
- Trading standards, local council. Local newspaper maybe if you are really unhappy about it they will for sure close the place down
- Q: I am a mechanical engineer and i have had 4 different jobs and i'm forced to be an expert in electrical engineering, because everything is electrical/electronics/computerized these days. I am terrible with electrical concepts.i barely passed the only EE class i had to take, and i am trying to learn this stuff on my own, but it's like Greek to me. WHAT CAN I DO? This would be like forcing a lawyer to be an expert in bricklaying or forcing a doctor to be an expert in glass blowing!!!
- No it wouldn't even remotely be like asking a lawyer to be a brick layer. It would be like a tax attorney filling in for a domestic violence attorney. No they're not the same thing. But each should have a basic understanding of law. I encounter areas outside my expertise everyday. But I don't complain about it. I do what needs done to handle it. And so should you. Break open the old physics books get a Schuam's Outline hit the intertubes. Handle it. If it's like greek learn greek.
- Q: If i were to give a hybrid vehicle to a teenager, and they decided to add a bunch of high powered electrical equipment:1. Does this utilize the same battery that the car motors use to propel the car.2. Do gas-electric hybrids have alternators capable of generating electricity while the car is running?3. What are the limitations of adding additional electrical accessories to the car? ie. DVD players, video screens, amplifiers, extra power outlets for laptops
- 1 Yes there is a seperate battery for auxillaries and a seperate battery that runs the electric motor/charger. 2 the alternator that runs the auxillaries is a normal 60 to 90 watt unit. It cannot charge the batteries that drive the car. 3 no differant than addind to a regular car.
