- Q: I was wondering if this is possible. The wall we have designed is very close to an existing retaining wall. In order to properly form and waterproof the wall we would have to demo that existing retaining wall. My idea was to build it off site, waterproof it, and then crane it into its location. Is this possible? any similar methods? thanks
- Possible but difficult. You could tell us what the wall is made of? Assuming stone, then you can't lift a stone wall unless you have a steel plate under it, as it will collapse otherwise. That gets complicated. Yes, you could build it with a 1/2 inch steel plate under it, and lift it that way, assuming it is not too long, and crane it into position, but you then have to slide the plate out without cracking the wall, also difficult. The plate is expensive, the crane is expensive. But what do you gain? You still have to demolish the old wall, you still have to build a new one, so what would you gain by building it somewhere else and moving it?

- Crane flies are totally harmless. Many of them don't even mouthparts as adults. They don't feed on anything, living only to reproduce and then dying. They couldn't bite even if they wanted. In fact, they're so harmless that entomologists aren't even sure which larva goes with which adult. They are so insignificant in terms of economic impacts that there has been no incentive to even study that much of the taxonomy of the group. It might technically possible for someone who is completely insane to breathe in or swallow enough crane flies that they accidentally choke, but even that would take some serious bad luck and someone willing to snort or swallow hundreds, if not thousands of the flies. Some species of their larvae can create lumps underneath the sod, creating a minor annoyance for golf course keepers and people who want their lawn to look like a golf course. Other than that, they're about as harmless as it is possible for an organism to be.
- Q: Hi, I just bought a 12 foot tommy jib crane, for my cannon x1-h1, I also bought a pan and tilt motor that you put on top of the camera mount at the end of the jib and then add your camera on top of your motor mount. This thing is really heavy now, I have to use 40 lbs for a counter weight. On top of that all the weight is making the jib slanted and shooting crooked. So I took off the motor head and just left the camera on there, and it help a bit, but its still crooked. Is there any fix for this other than buying a more expensive stronger jib crane? It shoots great and I know I can fix the video in post, but it just bothers me. Any help?
