- Q: Ok so the day before yesterday I decided to try a liver flushI drink half a cup of grapefruit juice and half olive oilI went to bed laid on my right sideThen in the middle of the night I woke up and threw up a little bit of some green stuffMind you I had a restless night with nauseaThen I became constipated which freaked me out bc if you've flushed your liver and its in your body for more than 24 hours thats not good.its toxins. So then the next day I woke up and my eyelids were covered in pimple l ike rashToday its spread to my chin and my eyelids are swollen and redIt looks like someone punched me!!!! And the pimple like rash just keeps spreading.Should I wait it out or go to a doctor? And what is this???? Oh and btw I finally hada bowel movement and pooped out in diarrhea a bunch of little balls.
- Who told you you needed to flush your liver? I hope this is the answer you will listen toDetoxing and/or cleansing have absolutely no medical benefit and are in fact harmful to the digestive system and internal organsThere is no build up of bad plaque in a normal systemIf we had a layer of undigested foods or toxins lining our systems, we would all be dying of malnutrition since we would be unable to absorb any nutrientsOur bodies detox 24 hours a day through respiration, sweat, liver, and kidneysWe can help detox by eating a healthy diet with minimal added sugar and saltLots of fresh fruit, vegetables, whole grain foods, beans, peas, and brown rice keep a system as healthy as it can beThe less processed your food is, the betterMinimal alcohol, caffeine, sodaTry to drink 100 oz of ice cold water per dayRead food labelsIf you can't pronounce it, don't put it in your bodyExtreme detoxing diets or supplements actually flush out the beneficial bacteria and enzymes in the digestive systemTo cleanse the digestive system, search foods high in soluble fiberSoluble fiber encapsulates fatty acids and toxins as they pass through the system minimizing absorption of fats and re-absorption of toxinsFiber foods give the intestines a good workout by giving them something to push againstSpend your money in the produce department instead of giving it to someone peddling unproven, unregulated, and even dangerous productsIf you are truly concerned about your liver health, take a 200mg or less milk thistle supplement for 30 days, then off for 30 then back onMilk thistle has an exclusive leptin in it that supports liver functionGood luck.

- If it is natural fiber than yesTo tell if it is natural fiber find a loose piece of yarn on the afghanUsually this is not hard by the time the item reaches the age it is now.look along the edge or cornersCarefully cut off a bit of itAbout two inches if you canPut it between the tips of tweezers and burn itIf it smells like hair and makes ash then it is natural fiberIf it melts and has a chemical smell then it is man madeAlso keep in mind that the current color, even if light can effect the outcome of your dyeGo for a richer deeper color if you can to help offset this.

- Q: Hi gang, I live in the Pacific NW, USAIt gets pretty cold here in the winter time and right now I am wearing a hat in the house in order to keep the heat downIt got below zero last night and it is holdingI want to know what you think what would be a good alternative heat source - pellet stove, or wood stove? I have forced air gas as a furnace, but it can run pretty high in the winterWhat is your experience on the best solution? Thanks always, Karen
- Tyler has some good ideasBut let me add somethings to consider: It all comes down to the cost of the fuel I live in northern maryland and it hasn't gotten as cold as what you say(below ZERO ? !!!! WHOA !!! ALREADY !!!) We have not seen below 30 yetMy hubby and I do the wood stove thing we have a 4 acre piece of ground and there's lots of Black Locust and oak here(but we burn most anything except pine)It's a lot of work and we burn about 2 cords a yearSo we don't pay for the woodI don't know if you have a cheap source of wood supplyso it's hard to make a recommendationI kinda thought gas was getting cheaper lately Have you tried to shore up the insulation? fix the windowsadd insulation/foam in the attic? and foam inside the exterior walls around the electrical outlets? (you can buy that great stuff and attach a flexible tube to the end of their tube and get into some tight spaces !) LD

- Q: I have 3 horses14yro Paso Gelding he is smaller about 14 hh and he is a little under weight 26yro QH mare she is 14.2 and she is fat310yro Paint mare 15.3 and she is at a good weight I live in North Florida on the east coastBut the winter this year is going crazy one day its 40 degrees during the day and 20 degrees at night and the next day it will be 70 during the day and 50 at night they are shedding and I dont know if I should get them blankets suggestions?
- Horses have wonderful coats which allow them to regulate their own body temperaturesWhen it's cold, they fluff the fur up, it holds more air, and they stay warmWhen it's warm, they flatten the fur down, it loses heat more easily, and they stay coolAdding a blanket for extra warmth makes them colder, as the weight of it flattens the hairGetting blankets for your horses is only useful if you want to clip them for working/showing, and even then they are nowheres near as effective as the horses' natural coatsGetting blankets is good for the blanket manufacturers, the blanket wholesalers, the tack store where you get them, and the credit card companiesIt's not necessary for the horse at all I've kept horses in northern new england and really, really cold areas, where the temperatures could fluctuate far more than what you are seeingThey were perfectly content in their own coats - and happier than the neighbor's horses, who huddled miserably in their useless but stylish togsFlorida? No wayThe cold will not hurt themMake sure their barn will shelter them from cold rain when it's windy, and leave them be THey'll be far healthier Edit: If you do get blankets, don't forget to remove and replace them daily, so they don't cause soresIf they're damp, dry them thoroughly to prevent rainrotCheck several times a day at first, to make sure none of your horses have done anything which might endanger themselves with the blankets, like put a foot through a strap, etc.
