Cold rolled sheet products have been available for many, many years, and have been successfully used for a multitude

of applications. Today's cold rolled sheet products are much improved over those used in the past. They offer better control

of thickness, shape, width, surface finish, and other special quality features that compliment the emerging need for highly

engineered end use applications.

Because cold rolled steel sheet is prone to rusting, standard practice is to apply a rust-preventative oil at the exit end of the temper mill (the last processing step). Rust-preventative oils are different than forming lubricants in that they contain special corrosion-inhibiting additions. In addition to the oil, Curtis Steel maintains clean, dry environments in climate controlled warehouses at

all its facilities to ensure our coils and sheets arrive to you in prime condition

Q: How are steel coils used in the production of metal fixtures?
The production of metal fixtures relies heavily on steel coils, an indispensable element. Typically composed of carbon steel, these coils act as the primary raw material for manufacturing a diverse array of metal fixtures. To begin the process, the steel coils are initially uncoiled and subsequently cut into sheets of the desired size and thickness. These sheets serve as the fundamental material for various types of metal fixtures, including brackets, hinges, handles, and other structural components. Once the sheets have been cut, they undergo a series of shaping procedures, such as bending, stamping, or rolling. These procedures are crucial in molding the steel sheets into the specific design required for each metal fixture. For instance, bending can be utilized to create brackets or angles, while stamping can form intricate patterns or shapes. Following the shaping procedures, it is common for the steel sheets to undergo welding or joining techniques, which are employed to assemble multiple components of the metal fixture. Through welding, the various parts are securely attached, ensuring strength and durability in the final product. Moreover, steel coils also play a vital role in enhancing the appearance and extending the lifespan of metal fixtures. They can be coated or treated with protective layers, such as galvanized or powder coatings, to prevent corrosion and provide a polished finish. These coatings guarantee that the metal fixtures can withstand environmental factors and prolong their durability. To summarize, steel coils are an indispensable component in the production process of metal fixtures. They are transformed into sheets, which are then shaped, joined, and coated to create a wide range of functional and aesthetically pleasing metal fixtures utilized across various industries.
Q: What are the challenges in coil slitting for thin gauge materials?
Some of the challenges in coil slitting for thin gauge materials include maintaining precise tolerances, avoiding material deformation or buckling during the slitting process, and ensuring consistent edge quality. Additionally, handling and feeding thin gauge materials can be more delicate, as they are more prone to damage or distortion. Proper tension control and alignment are crucial to prevent issues like edge wave or camber, which can affect the overall quality of the slit coils.
Q: i would like to know of any companies who buy shredded scrap steel
We are one of the biggest steel mills in Asia. Under our group, we have steel mills in Thailand and Bangladesh. On the monthly basis, we purchase steel scrap HMS1/2 80:20 and the shredded ISRI210/211, ISRI211 by bulk and 20' container to Thailand and Bangladesh. Due to the limitation of our existing shredded steel scrap supplier, we need to get more supply of the shredded. Please contact us or offer us of ISRI 210/211 or ISRI211 CFR Chittagong, Bangladesh with 500mt - 2000mt per shipment by 20' container. If any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Q: How are steel coils used in the production of shipbuilding components?
Steel coils are used in the production of shipbuilding components as they are the primary raw material for manufacturing various structural and mechanical parts, such as hulls, decks, bulkheads, and frames. These coils are unwound, cut, shaped, and welded to form the required sections and profiles, providing the necessary strength and durability to withstand the harsh marine environment.
Q: So, I'm doing this project for my chemistry class and I need to explain the raw materials in which paper slips are made of. I'm not really sure if galvanized steel is. If not, can someone PLEASE tell me what raw materials are metal paper clips made of???
No, because first of all galvinizing is coating the steel with zinc to prevent oxidation. Iron is a raw material, as is zinc, carbon. Other metals may be combined with the iron and carbon, including vanadium and chromium.
Q: Climbing ropes used by mountaineers are usually made of nylon. Would steel cable of equal strength as the nylon be just as good? What advantages and disadvantages would it have compared to the nylon?
steel is NOT as flexible and much slipperier if you fall the nylon stretches to slow the victim but a steel cable would stop short and kill you
Q: How are steel coils processed for specific applications?
Steel coils go through a series of meticulously planned steps to be processed for specific applications. The process commences with the selection of the appropriate steel grade and thickness, which is based on the requirements of the end application. Upon receiving the steel coils, they undergo a series of processing steps to transform them into the desired product. The first step in processing steel coils is referred to as uncoiling, where the coil is unwound and straightened to ensure it is flat and ready for further processing. Next, the uncoiled steel is cleaned to eliminate any dirt, oil, or rust on the surface. This is typically done through pickling, a process that involves immersing the steel in an acid bath to remove impurities. Once cleaned, the steel undergoes various shaping processes depending on the desired application. This can involve slitting, where the coil is cut into narrower strips, or shearing, where it is cut into specific lengths. These shaping processes often require specialized machinery capable of handling the high strength and thickness of the steel. After shaping, the steel may undergo additional processes to enhance its properties. For instance, it can be heat treated to increase strength or hardness, or it can go through a coating process to improve corrosion resistance. Coating techniques can include galvanizing, where a layer of zinc is applied to the steel, or painting, where a layer of paint is added. Finally, the processed steel coils are inspected for quality and undergo any necessary finishing processes. This can involve trimming the edges to remove irregularities, or applying protective coatings to prevent damage during transportation or storage. In conclusion, processing steel coils for specific applications is a complex and carefully controlled process. It involves a combination of shaping, cleaning, coating, and finishing processes to ensure that the steel meets required specifications and is suitable for use in various industries such as automotive, construction, and manufacturing.
Q: melting point, as compare to stainless steel
Be *real cautious* using HCL round stainless. A lowering acid like HCL will wreck down the oxide layer on the stainless, and corrosion will proceed. So far as i do know, there is not any scale down level at which HCL will not attack the skin oxide, however at very low concentrations maybe somewhat rust/pitting/corrosion is not going to be a main issue. Oxidizing acids like nitric, and to a couple measure sulfuric, will passivate stainless under the right conditions. But on simple, mild steels, corrosion will proceed to form FeCl and FeSO4 corrosion merchandise. The corrosion will haven't any outcomes on tensile, hardness or affect until ample fabric has been eliminated via corrosion to make a measurable change. Hydrogen embrittlement is a likelihood if there's constant anxiety, and hydrogen is advanced in corrosion. Whether or not it is a challenge would rely on the drawback.
Q: Where can a find a steel scrubber. Its great to clean cooking vessels. Would be great if someone gives me an idea. I did not find it at CVS, but was in a hurry, will try again tomorrow.
I posted this earlier to a similar question... Really burnt on gunk in the bottom like milk or blackened food can easily be cleaned out of stainless steel pots and pans by sprinkling baking soda in the bottom, covering with vinegar, let simmer with a little water for 5 min. Let cool, scrub out with a vinyl scrubby. or I use a lot of stainless steel for cooking and over the years have found a very inexpensive solution to cleaning them especially the ones with burnt food stuck at the bottom. I use Used fabric softner sheets (sheets that i have already used in the dryer for my clothes) and have them soak in water in the dirty pan overnight. Next morning i use the same sheet as scrubber to clean the pan and all the burnt food comes off easily leaving a new look to the pan. Try it this works.
Q: Personally, I like Steel Cage matches to end in pinfalls. One of the biggest selling points of a Cage match is that it is to keep the competitors in and keep others out; essentially ensuring that it's a 1 on 1 match. As a result, I believe that pinfalls or submissions are important - but I know there's a lot of people that believe cage matches should only end in escape. What do you think??
I don't really care either way. The only way I don't like it to end is when the door is opened and the person just walks out. That really isn't hard to win it like that. For last night I was hoping before the match that Bryan would win by escaping the cage. It fit his character, being a coward champ.
