Press fitting system joins pipe without welding or bolting. The components fit by crimping through the use of a special pressing tool. An O-ring that is inserted in the fitting ends of the pipe ensures a leak-proof connection. Press fitting system is the trend of pipeline industry. It is widely used in cold and hot water supply, heating supply, fire protection, medicinal gas, industrial petroleum pipeline system etc.

Can anyone help me?: Other than gluing , smaller sections of pipe can be fused (melted)together. Fusing is a common technique in industrial and civil applications and for joining types of plastic pipe for which there isn't a solvent based glue available. HDPE (High density Poly Ethelyene) is an example of a thermo plastic, one which is joined by heat and not a solvent based glue. PCV (Poly Vynil Chloride) pipe like what you would find at home depot uses a solvent based glue. The solvent based glue chemically softens and joins the pipe sections together without the use of heat. The attached link shows a mile long section being fused together as its being pulled into an old pipe. Fused joints do not require addtional pipe fittings like couplings. Couplings used in glued PVC joints are larger diameter than the pipe and would not be able to be pulled through an old pipe section with a significant loss of inside pipe diameter. Fused joints are nearly the same outside diameter of the pipe and do not require a coupling fitting. As a result the fused pipe can be pulled into an old section of pipe and use nearly the entire inside dimension of the old pipe. The process of placing a new pipe inside and old pipe is called slip lining. It is a means to rejuvinate and old leaky pipe without he need to dig up all of the the old pipe.

You can get carbon steel exhaust piping with and aluminzied coating which tends to protect it from corroding to soon. The next level is 304 stainless which has even better corrosion resistance due to the lower carbon content. On the high end is 314 and 316 stainless. To check the property of the metal stick a magnet on it . If it is carbon steel or aluminized steel the magnet will stick to it. If it is 304 , 314, 316 the magnet won't stick. Dont use a oxy/act system if you are not experienced with it . You will end up torching your car. Use a sawzall / reciprecating saw aloneg with safety goggles for the eyes. Once you figured out your design take the pipe to a muufles shop and have them expand the ends . They will charge you around $20 . Long term savngs compared to the oxy/act system . Its old skool. Plasma cutters are the in thing now

Q: This is a heat lamp used in a room where small animals are kept. The sheet metal I'm talking about is located directly above the heating bulb. It reaches quite hot temps. the side is broken off it. i need a high temp glue of some sort to glue it back on. it must be able to not only withstand temps that would normally scorch or melt rubber, but also withstand them without putting out any kind o vapor or fume. there are small animals in this room, so any fumes or vapors could be harmful and must be avoided.: tricky issue. search with the search engines. that might help!
