And why?: The two bolts that look alike go through the two holes after the bracket is placed on the frame. The swivel headed bolt is used to secure the lock once you place it in the mount. Tighten the bolt with the swivel parallel to the bolt until there is no play in the bolt and then fold the swivel until it is at a 45 degree angle. So should I get gloves or just stick with hand wraps to begin with?: Oh ya - just pull all that old stuff out - run down to the store and buy everything new. It's cheap. But if you want, just take everything out and clean it all up really good and put it back together. Those things are usually tightened to hand tight plus a little. You can get a pipe wrench and just put a tiny pull on the fittings once you get them together. If you torque the crap out of them, the pipe breaks.

Before you can even consider any kind of work on this system you have to get the water under control and that means replacing the main valve. Is this your valve or the water suppliers? If its yours can you turn off your main valve to the property to allow the sprinkler system valve to be replaced and if its theirs or their valve (the main one) is no good either then get onto them to sort that part of the problem out. Once you have the water under control then you can repair away in your own time as you wish.

Any Suggest?: It's not. The ports are all marked on filters these days. Inlet means in to filter from pump. Waste is backwash (if a sand filter). Outlet goes to heater, chlorinator and then pool return stub out. The front of the pump is where your suction (from pool stub out) goes. Top of pump goes to filter. Just make sure you have all the plumbing fittings and pipe handy. A roll of teflon tape as well. If this is all poly plumbing you'll need a propane torch to heat the pipe at the fittings and gear clamps.
