Q: What size of system would I need to get if I use on average 500 kilowatt hrs a month I would like to do a tie in grid system I live in the states south central area of States any info or links to sites would be wonderful I am interested in this type of energy soure thank you
Since you are consuming 500 KiloWatts*hours (.5 MegaWatts*hours) per month on average, you need to find out how many KiloWatts per day, so 500 KWh*h / 30 days = 50 KWh per day. With an average of 2 hours of sunlight per day, or even more conservative of 0 hours of sunlight per day 50 KWh / 2 hours = 4.667 KW solar panel system 50 KWh / 0 hours = 5 KW solar panel system An average solar panel is 200W to 250W, so 5 KW / 200W = 25 solar panels 5 KW / 250W = 20 solar panels Solar panels are currently about $ per Watt, so 5 KW of panels is $5,000 A 5KW inverter that is about $5,000 Other incidentals are about $2,000 Total cost (not including labor) is $2,000 Price per KWh is about $0.0 per KWh for East South Central states. Savings per month is *at least* $50 since there are other charges in your electric bill other than usage that are tied directly to your usage as costs. So $50 / month * 2 months = $,800 per year $2,000 investment / $,800 per year = 6.67 years or 6 years, 8 months to pay off the system. Contact many Solar contractors in your area for competitive pricing of labor and for a more detailed analysis of your home.
Q: how much energy or electricity a solar panel produces?
First, okorder /... Second, as a general rule of thumb, you can generate at most 00 watts of power (.Kwh) per 2 square feet of roof space. I have had to revise my own estimates after building a solar array in my yard using high grade solar panels. Solar panels do not put out their peak rating all the time. NOTE: I am not paid nor given any compensation by solar interests.
Q: Didnt solar panels use to cost around $250,000 5 years ago?
I okorder to register for free and lock in long term costs. The increasing demand and competition is helping reduce costs.
Q: What is the average cost of solar panel installation?
The average cost of solar panel installation can vary depending on several factors such as the size and type of the system, location, and any additional equipment or services required. However, as of 2021, the average cost for a residential solar panel installation in the United States ranges from $10,000 to $30,000, including equipment, labor, and permitting costs. It is always recommended to obtain multiple quotes from reputable solar installation companies to get a more accurate estimate based on your specific needs and circumstances.
Q: Can solar panels be installed on wearable devices?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on wearable devices, but their effectiveness may be limited due to the small surface area available for solar absorption. Additionally, the amount of energy generated may not be sufficient to power the wearable device continuously. However, advancements in solar technology may make it more feasible and efficient in the future.
Q: I have a solar panel I bought for a diy project and it has a small plug on the end of it, but I need to remove this plug to expose the positive and return wires so I can solder a bunch of stuff together. How do I cut off the plug without shorting out the solar panel when I make the cut? Can I just leave it in the dark a while before cutting? I don't think I can remove the wires from the solar panel end before cutting.
Just cover the panel and cut the wire the voltage will be so low it would be like shorting out a battery
Q: Can solar panels increase the value of my property?
Yes, solar panels can increase the value of your property. Installing solar panels can be seen as a desirable feature by potential buyers, as it offers the benefit of reduced energy costs and environmental sustainability. Studies have shown that homes with solar panels tend to sell for higher prices compared to similar homes without them. Additionally, solar panels may also attract more buyers, increasing the demand and overall value of your property.
Q: I am looking to wire in some solar panels into my home. I already have plenty of wiring, and some solar panels around. I just need to know what I need to do to wire them into my home so I can lower my electric bill. This past month it was six hundred dollars. Can someone direct me to some information, or tell me how without telling me to hire some guy to come out to charge me thirty thousand dollars to install two or three thousand dollars worth of equipment?
The essentials are to connect the panels in a configuration that matches the inverter. My system has twenty 24 volt panels in series, to an inverter that wants to see 480. They could have been in any series-parallel configuration to match an inverter that used different voltage. I chose the high voltage route to reduce IR losses in the connections. The proper inverter is essential on grid connected systems. It must be able to disconnect from the grid if grid power fails, and to come back on line automatically, and in phase. There has to be a fused disconnect between the panels and the inverter. When connecting to the grid, another fused disconnect is required. My power company was very specific about acceptable switches. Just using a good brand doesn't hack it. Lots of good info on solar panels in the green search box above on this page.
Q: im trying to experiment with solar panels. so i dont want to buy a huge expensive solar panel if i dont need one.
They are powered from internal batteries, so what you really want to do is to charge the batteries. Take them one at a time, as they have different power and voltage requirements. Don't try to do them both together, unless you use an inverter. To directly charge a battery from a solar panel, you need to find out the voltage and current requirements for the charge operation. Then find a solar panel with a voltage somewhat higher. the current can be lower, it will just take longer for the charge. You will have to monitor manually the state of charge of the battery(s) to avoid overcharging and damage. Another alternative is to get a solar panel that will supply 2 volts and use that to operate an inverter that will output 20 VAC with AC sockets on it. then you can plug in the battery chargers that you have, and they will handle the batteries correctly. Or you can buy solar panels with built in circuitry to handle the charge control. .
Q: I live in the UK, I have no savings (so would have to take out a loan of about ?8000), I don't know how long I plan to stay in my house, I might want to move in a year or two to take advantage of a better job so I want to keep the option open of being able to sell my house without having to pay off the cost of having the panels fitted (which I probably won't get back on the increased value they add to my house). What are the main advantages of having solar panels? What are the pitfalls the ever so eager cold callers with quotas to fill don't tell you about?Basically is it worth having them?Thankyou.
If you're talking about photovoltaic panels, for making electricity, they're very expensive. Around here I think it runs around 2 bucks a watt of capacity, just for the panels. Then they have to be installed of course, which means an electrician has to be paid, and you need an inverter also. You can also spring for a bank of deep cycle batteries if you want to be able to store the electricity from the panels to use at night or on cloudy days, but that adds another very large expense. Now if electricity is very, very expensive where you are, you could maybe pay this off in a few years, but I doubt you could pay off 8000 pounds worth of this stuff in only a couple years. If you're talking about solar for water or air heating, well, that's another deal. But those kind of setups cost a lot less to put in, I can't see anyone paying that much for it.
