1. Description of Solar Panels

Solar Module is the core part of solar PV power systems, also is the highest value part of it. The function of Solar Module is to convert the sun's radiation to electrical energy, or transfer it to battery and store in it, or to drive the load running. The Product has been widely used in space and ground, it mainly used for power generation systems, charging systems, road lighting and traffic signs areas. It could offer a wide range of power and voltage, and with high conversion efficiency, and long service life.

Q: Hi. I need to build a solar panel for a project. it should be able to light a 60 watt light bulb. also, it should be about 3x3 ft if it is 50% efficient. if anyone knows any websites or can help me, please answer! thanks.
I don't have any practical experience building solar panel arrays to power a given device, but allow me to make this observation. Solar cells, when exposed to sunlight, will each generate a given amount of power (watts), and by wiring these in series, you will increase the wattage. Now, a panel three feet square will give you a certain amount of power, provided all the cells are wired correctly in series, and it may not provide enough juice to light the bulb. You can work around this by adding a step-up transformer (which takes the incoming power and boosts it to the desired level for output, with no moving parts). Voila! You've illuminated your bulb. I will admit, though, you'll have to do some math to determine what you need. A search on the Web will help you find the formulae and other information you'll require. Good luck.
Q: Are solar panels easy to maintain?
Yes, solar panels are relatively easy to maintain. They require minimal upkeep, with regular cleaning to remove dust and debris for optimal efficiency. Additionally, occasional inspections to check for any damage or shading issues may be necessary. Overall, the maintenance requirements for solar panels are straightforward and manageable.
Q: The first panel is located in New England, the second is placed in the Sahara desert, the third is on the Earth side of the moon, and the last is on the far side of the moon. Which panel would absorb the most sunlight over a year's time and why ? All the panels are place in optimal places where they would get the most light available.
Best to worst: far side of the moon, near side of the moon (same as far side, except for lunar eclipses), Sahara desert (not at 0 latitude, and occasional bad weather), New England (less favorable latitude, and LOTS of bad weather).
Q: Can solar panels be installed on a sports stadium?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on a sports stadium.
Q: i don't know very much about it, but can you somehow take off the little solar panels off of the outdoor light things and make it so you can hook an outlet up to it and plug in to it like a phone charger for electricity.
Little solar panels on lights are very low power. The battery in one such may be 0.5 Amp-hours and .2 V ; it may be different but it should be marked on the panel/battery/manual. An outlet in your house is designed to run on 20 V (typically in N. Am.) and they run on alternating current (AC) whereas the panel generates direct current (DC). (If you don't know the difference, do not worry to much but just understand that they are not directly compatible.) You therefore need an inverter to change DC to AC (and lose some although inverters are now very efficient). But the amount of power generated by those panels is still very small. That is why solar lights are low power (just a few watts in most cases). To make things even more irritating, phone chargers do not work off 20 V AC as you are charging the battery and need a low voltage DC -- which is what the solar panel is giving you. It is almost certain that the voltage from the panel will be less than the voltage required for the phone. The charger is mostly cable but there is a black box incorporated and it should say what the voltage and current output are (the input will be 20V). So you should be able to overcome this not by hooking up the panel to a 20V outlet and then plugging the charger in but by hooking up the panel to the phone directly if you can get enough voltage out of the solar panel (or hook up several) and if you fashion a connection device. They already make them -- solar battery chargers and I am sure you can enter that into a search engine and find loads. Typically the panel alone is much more than a solar light -- which shows the relative power requirements.
Q: Let's say I can buy solar panels for my business for $5,000 and my payback period is 8 years. Would it be correct to assume that my money is best spent elsewhere (such as paying down debt) if I am being charged an interest rate of 3.9%?
Solar panels don't financially make sense. PERIOD...at least not yet. They have a short life and the efficiency dies over time. IF you have the money then go for it, but if you have debt then financially you're probably better off paying off that debt. They're more of a luxury item than an investment.
Q: There are places in the US where it is sunny almost all the time, like the southwest. But if we covered an area of the Sahara with solar panels, the sun exposure with the area would generate enough energy for the whole US at least. Plus, I would imagine it would be a great source of income for those countries. Why isn't this a topic under discussion or even mentioned between countries' governments/in Congress/in politicians' viewpoints?
It's expensive - solar power isn't competitive with power from the grid in most countries and it's a very expensive in terms of capital - you have to put most of the money up front. Meanwhile fossil fuel plants are cheaper to build and from then on you only spend money on fuel when you're selling power (and of course you don't have to pay for the damage you cause society with air pollution and greenhouse gases).
Q: Can solar panels be installed on historic buildings?
Yes, solar panels can be installed on historic buildings. However, the installation process needs to be carefully planned and executed to ensure that it does not damage the historic fabric or compromise the architectural integrity of the building.
Q: Can solar panels be used to power an emergency response center?
Yes, solar panels can be used to power an emergency response center. Solar panels convert sunlight into electricity, which can be stored in batteries or directly used to power the center's equipment, lighting, and other electrical needs. This can provide a reliable and sustainable source of power, especially during emergencies when the grid may be down or unreliable.
Q: a fiber optic network could distribute solar energy from warm states to the rest of the country. Using a Federally created program, the energy would be used through a trust program to benefit all of our citizens equally. It would create thousands of jobs and help us with our dependence on foriegn oil supplies. This is no different than work programs created by the Feds during the 930's depression era.
As a matter of fact these types of facilities are being built today. People are already hard at work on it. Yes solar is more expensive that conventional electricity sources, but only at first. A solar power plant has no fuel costs and so although it costs a lot more to build at first over its life time it can actually cost a lot less. That doesn't even count the costs of byproducts from conventional power plants. Most people are not aware that particulate pollution kills between 00,000 and 200,000 people in the United States every year. The majority source of particulate pollution is electrical power production, but our electrical bill does not include the costs of those deaths. If the electric utilities had to pay their fair share of those medical costs electricity produced by fossil fuels would look a lot less attractive. Some people think solar panels take more energy to build than they every collect from the sun but that is not true. A solar panel generates the energy it takes to make it in between and 2 years and after that the power it generates is basically free. Solar panels are expected to last between 30 and 50 years, so that is a lot of free power. By the way, I installed solar panels on my house. They cost me about 6000 dollars (after rebates and tax deductions) and saves me about 000 dollars every year from my electrical bill. I have a 5 bedroom house and a family of three and our electrical bill averages just $35/month. That is in California with some of the highest electrical rates in the country. So I can say that solar works. There are dozens of companies working very hard to make solar power more affordable and they are being successful. The solar industry is about 7X larger in 2006 than it was in 2000. It is one of the fastest growing industries and has sustained growth of 40% per year for the last five years. Solar power will become the largest industry on Earth, but it will take some time. It is a very encouraging development.
