- Rio . The nice thing about the stuff from smooth-on is you order dye separately and you can have custom colors. They also carry stuff for mold making (I recommend Oomoo). I've actually used this stuff, and other than the general grossness of liquid plastic, it worked really well. I had a classmate use some of the Rio resin and it took forever to set up. - Composites do not need resin finishing. I've never heard of such a thing. Composites are polished after they have been placed and that's the end of it. The life of a composite filling is not dependent upon top coats but rather the size of the filling and the chewing stresses placed upon it. And of course, how well it was placed. Sorry, he sounds like a charlatan and I would not go back for his proposed treatment. Dentists like this give us a bad name.

- there are two types of resin epoxy and polyester resin. the polyester resin is much cheaper and easier to work with you can buy buckets of it, and it is what most surfboards are made out of, all you do it pour as much as you need into a tub and add a few drops of catalyst to make it cure then use it. the epoxy resin is used in pro model boards and also f-one racing cars ect. it is usually used with carbon fiber, it is much more expensive and is a little harder to mix and get right. almost any marine store will sell the polyester resin, your better off buying a big tub of it, as making surfboards is fun and may become a new hobbie.
