PICTURE OF OUR WORKSHOP
- Q: I have a 2001 New Beetle. Everything is fine. No lights are on. Got everything rang needed to be fix. After work I drove him and then I parked and turned my engine off. Then I open my car door, and the alarm went off. And it was really loud. And it kept doing that until I got out of the car and locked my car. Then I unlocked it and open the door and no alarm went off. What‘s going on?!
- Not terribly unusual but it can be very annoying. If this only happens on rare occasion, just try and live with it. If If it becomes too bothersome, I recommend that you first get a personal referral to an independent auto repair shop. Ask them to take a look and try to diagnose the problem. Alternatively, if it's an after market alarm, get on the company web site and ask for assistance.
- Q: Ok so today i went to Fry‘s and got a new stereo deck in my car and got it installed. Only problem is that the alarm i guess became disabled. So i showed it to the installers before i left and they were trying to feed me some bs like yeah maybe u should upgrade your alarm, its not working, or i cant find the button this, that whatever. So i located the valet button held onto it for 5 sec with the car on(before you start the engine) and the alarm made its chirping sound along with the headlights/dash flashing. So that obviously means i still have a alarm system that‘s functional. But now I guess when i use my remote it wont function how do i reprogram it? should i take it to a shop to reprogram it? also the alarm is a brand called chapman on a 99 civic thanks.

- Q: So I have an ‘88 Firebird that came with some crazy ‘80‘s security system. It has a chip that you put into a slot every time you start the car, without it the starter won‘t crank. Now, I love this thing since these cars are very easy to steal, it has a normal aftermarket alarm too but its a pos. My question is, if I lose this chip I won‘t be able to start my car, and I‘m sure getting a replacement is out of the question. Anyone know if a company makes a system like this that I can get to replace the one I have already?
- Most of those antique alarm systems had a module that controls alarm. On the module is the company name and model. if that company is still in business , it should be no problem for replacement parts or updated system. most installers put the module under dash near the drivers feet. Now with those antique alarms most installers just cut the wire to starter from keyswitch and if the alarm fails or you loose chip you can reconnect cut wire and start car
- Q: For the past week or so my car alarm has been going off, but it‘s getting worse. Just this morning it went off every five minutes or so. Finally it subsided in the afternoon. I took it to Autozone for diagnostic, but they said unless the check engine light was on they had no clue. It‘s been going off at 3 and 4 in the morning and I‘m about to take a sledgehammer to my car. I don‘t have the funds to take it in. Does any one know why this could be happening or what I could do to fix it?
- Since you have not mentioned what car you have, help is limited. Some cars have a sensitivity adjuster where you can adjust the sensitivity of the car alarm. From, example, the wind blowing it and causing it to go off to a truck hitting it and it going off. Ideally, you should call up the manufacturers, they will be able to help you and assist you better.
- Q: How much should one cost? Which are good systems? Any good website recommendations?
- diesel mechanic my whole friking life, and I'd been telling evreybody, everyday,my whole life. NOT FRIKING ADDITIVES ON DIESELS.
- Q: Why? Detail answer please cause my career is in ur hand.
- Frosty brother you career is only in your hands.and in your hands only.I make no sense I know.it will all be about what you want to doif you know it will make you happy. All else matter's not. Make sense?
- Q: My 1990 300E Merc. Benz is having a problem where when I try to start it, the alarm goes off and the car won‘t start. I think the problem may have been caused by unlocking the passenger door with a key instead of the remote, because the alarm went off when my daughter did this. Any way to fix this?
- Okay when i was with my mom she went into the store, and i had to pee, i didnt say anything, and i had to go badly. My mom locked the door, and shut the car off. I was stupid enough to unlock the door with the switch and open it, and the alarm blared. I was in a panic. I really wanted to shut it off before the cops came so i started pushing buttons. When i hit the red triangle (hazard lights) it finnaly shutup the alarm. Goodluck
- Q: heard a car alarm go off? as for me hope some one turns their car alarm off
- heard a car alarm go off? go off is good
- Q: Today my car alarm stopped working. My remote unlocks and pops my trunk still so its not the battery. It just wont lock or turn on the alarm. Is it possible that someone could disconnect something so i cannot turn the alarm on so they can come steal it later? Does anyone know what i should do?
- your car alarm only has one brain (computer) so for the locks to unlock and pop the trunk tells me that the brain still has power and is receiving signal. you have one of 2 problems. 1 your remote is going bad and the button to lock and arm has failed . try a second remote. 2 your brain has taken a dump and only partial functionality. this will need to be replaced. hope that helps
- Q: When I unlock the door with key
- An exact answer requires more information. Is this a factory alarm, or aftermarket? If it is factory, what is the year, make, and model of the car? If it is aftermarket, what is the make and model of the alarm? Is the problem new, or has it always been an issue? Does the key have a chip in it, and if so, is it the original key? If it is an aftermarket alarm, and you have had the issue as long as the alarm has been installed, it may not be wired to know you have unlocked the door with the key. If your key had a chip, and is not the original, the system may need reprogrammed to recognize the new key. The manual for the alarm should have a troubleshooting section, and is probably available online.
