PICTURE OF OUR WORKSHOP
- Q: why did my car alarm didnt went off when someone slashed my tyres? thanks?
- Yes you can use other types of metal as long as the bolt pattern matches up, as well as wheel width and offset
- Q: I realized this morning that it was my car's alarm that has been going off almost every morning (I live in an apartment complex). When I looked outside, no one was around the car when it went off. It only goes off in the morning too. Recently I was in a little accident where I tapped the car in front of me at an intersection-- there was a little damage to my front bumper/fender and hood. What can I do to fix this problem right away? Is there a way to disable the alarm till I can get the wiring checked? Why does the alarm only go off in the morning?car: Hyundai Elantra hatchback
- In many cases a misadjusted switch in the alarm system can cause the alarm to sound almost religiously at certain times or conditions. In this case it is possible that the temperature/moisture content of the air causes the switch in your hood to trip. ( I am assuming the hood switch because you mentioned you tapped a car with the front end of your vehicle ). If your vehicle is newer and equipped with a B-CAN system ( B-CAN is a type of communication system in the vehicle ) a shop, likely the dealership, can observe this data with a scan tool and tell you what the problem is. Keep in mind, there are other factors. Kids like to have fun. It is possible someone is messing with you. Or, the neighbors cat likes your car. But, only in the morning at a certain time. I am willing to bet that it has something to do with the hood switch ( if so equipped ) and you should see if a shop can help you out. Please, make sure to mention as much about the environmental conditions as possible. Time of day, temperature, humidity etc. It will help speed the diagnostic process and probably help save you some money.
- Q: So I have an ‘88 Firebird that came with some crazy ‘80‘s security system. It has a chip that you put into a slot every time you start the car, without it the starter won‘t crank. Now, I love this thing since these cars are very easy to steal, it has a normal aftermarket alarm too but its a pos. My question is, if I lose this chip I won‘t be able to start my car, and I‘m sure getting a replacement is out of the question. Anyone know if a company makes a system like this that I can get to replace the one I have already?
- Replace it with a modern alarm. You can bypass those chips by twisting 2 wires together. All you need is a wire tester.
- Q: Pulled the plug on the horn, but the alarm protection is interfering with my being able to start the car. A mechanic has it now, but any help would be appreciated.
- if it is an aftermarket alarm. you'll need have to either find out who made it and buy replacment remotes to use the alarm or have it completly removed if the alarm is a standard feature of the car from factory you will need to take it to a dealership
- Q: Does anyone know how to completely disable a car alarm on a 99 VW Jetta? My car alarm no longer recognizes when I open the back door after dis-arming the alarm. After a minute, it re-locks itself. I already accidentally locked my two year old in the car during the winter and had to call 911. I‘m terrified of it happening again with my two-month old in the middle of summer.Anyone know how to completely disable the alarm so I cant even use it? I dont mind not having an alarm, I‘m just terrified of it automatically locking my kids in the car. again.
- this happens when a door switch for the courtesy (interior) lights has broken if the switch breaks completely you cannot lock the door or set the alarm because the system thinks a door is still open if the switch jams off the system does not sense the door opening and will keep relocking the doors if another door is not opened as well and resetting the alarm easy 5 minute and $10 fix also check the hood and trunk switches, the switches are in little rubber boots at the bottom of the door frame and often get kicked but you can't see if they are broken until you take the boot off
- Q: Ive looked everywhere for the manual online and offline. Cant seem to find out about the buttons. I know the obvious lock and unlock buttons but not so sure about the other two.
- 1. Lock 2. Unlock 3. Trunk open if your car is equipped with an electrically operated trunk release. 4. Panic (sets off the lights and horn alarms) if you vehicle is equipped with an alarm system. #3 #4 won't operate if your vehicle isn't appropriately equipped.
- Q: I‘m getting an alarm system installed in a ‘94 camaro v6 tomorrow and the guy is trying to sell me some add-ons but I don‘t know if they‘re necessary. He says for $39 they can put something in the engine hood that will set the alarm off if they ever try to open the hood. It kind of makes sense because if you open the hood and disconnect the battery cables the alarm will be useless, but is it really that easy to pop a closed hood without releasing the hook that holds it down? (Which can only be done from inside the car)
- Totally unnecessary, the '94 Camaro is gonna break down long before they can get out of the parking lot.
- Q: I'm doing a little online research but am having a hard time finding a good car alarm that is equipped with some kind of gps tracker so that I can always know where the car is. Anybody know where I can find something like this?
- 103 RS GPS Tracker has both alarms and reports. it's a reliable gps tracker. check it out : www.rewiresecurity .uk/103rs-c.
- Q: Ok. I have a 2006 BMW 325i. I bought a viper car alarm a few days ago and was going to get it installed by the same place that I bought it from. A few hours later they called me saying they didn‘t want to take the risk and doing it cause doing so could possibly cause the car‘s computer to burn out in the future. They where saying that if the alarmy draws too much power it could fry the computer chip in the car. I didnt have the car alarm installed. I wasn‘t taking the chance. Anyother suggestions. I would like a alarm, but not the hassle? Thank you.
- HI. I HAVE BEEN INSTALLING ALARMS FOR ALMOST 12 YEARS AND LET ME TELL YOU THAT I DON'T KNOW ANY INSTALLER WHO LIKES TO DO BMW, JAGUAR MERCEDES AUDI'S THOSE ARE THE MOST DIFFICULT CARS TO DO ALARMS CAUSE ALL THE ELECTRONICS THEY HAVE ALSO MOST OF THE TIME AND THAT DEPENDS OF THE SHOP THEY WILL CHARGE YOU DOUBLE IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THOSE CARS. BUT I THINK THEY DID NOT WANT TO TAKE YOU CAR CAUSE THEY NEED SPECIAL TOOLS TO WORK WHIT IT THERE IS A SPECIAL TEST LIGHT TO PREVENT TO POP UP THE AIRBAGS, AND YOU KNOW WHO WILL PAY FOR THOSE? SHURE YOU KNOW . THEY WILL!!!! SO PROBABLY THAT WAS THE REASON ANOTHER CHANCE COULD BEE THEY DON'T HAVE EXPERIENCE ON GERMAN CARS YOU BETTER TAKE YOUR BUCKET TO BEST BUY OR ANY OTHER BIG COMPANY FER
- Q: I want to get a car alarm, and i‘m looking at some and they actually have sirens that are included, where are these sirens put on your vehicle, does it connect to where your horn is or something. Would i have to get it professionally installed, i have a few buddies who are mechanics so i‘m sure they could help me, but how difficult is it to install? Thanks for you advise guys!mike
- The siren can be mounted just about anywhere but do not connect them to your vehicles horns. As for the installation.as long as your friend understand a cars electrical system then let them install it but if not they can do a lot of damage Professional installation is your best bet plus they are responsible for any and all damages if anything should happen plus you will have a warranty on the install.
