Q: I bought a 2005 jeep grand cherokee a couple of months ago. the dealer didn‘t have an extra key. i didn‘t think there was going to be a problem until i decided to add a car alarm. the vehicle interface that im using need requires 2 keys to program and 0 to operate. someone told me there was a way to program it with only one key. is it possible? if so, how?
First thing is to clarify if you are installing a car alarm, a remote starter, or a car alarm with remote start. If you are just installing a car alarm you don't need an extra key. For a remote start there are modules you can use that dont require 2 keys for the immobilizer bypass. they also use can bus and can do door locks. Your vehicle is listed on this site for bypasses if you wanna check it out
Q: I have a 1991 Acura and I bout the car about 3-4 months ago. Have never had a problem with it until now. I‘ve never used the alarm system and it has never gone off. About 2 weeks ago the button to lock the car doors died so now I‘ve been locking it with the keys which is totally fine by me. Tonight I went to work, worked for about 6 hours, came outside, unlocked my door and BOOM the alarm goes off. It shuts off after beeping for 5 minutes. The. I try to start the car and it owes off again! Now I have the battery completely shut off because when it‘s on it starts the alarm. I can‘t even start the car. How do I disable this? I need to get me *** home :(
there is a small switch on the side kick panel left side turn on the ignition press the switch twice and turn off the ignition now you can star the car good luck
Q: 2001 ranger, disconnected battery when connecting again car alarm stays on and car won‘t start why?
The pats system in your car or key is screwed up, but don't tow it to a Ford dealer, that will cost you a lot plus a tow truck fee. I would call around to local lock smiths and get quotes because they very greatly and will cost a quarter of what the dealer will charge to reset the chip in your key.
Q: I have a 98 mazda protege and every time I stick my key in the ignition. I pull the key out and it keeps honking and eventually stops. Someone help me
Sounds like the door lock switch, isn't triggering the alarm to disengage. Try locking your doors, and using the key to open the passenger side door first, then unlock the driver side door and start the engine as normal. If the alarm doesn't sound then the door lock switch is the problem. Another problem could be if your car uses an electronic chip on the key. It may have became damaged, and is no longer disabling the alarm system as it should. You may have to replace the key with another from the dealership. (especially if this has happened after having a new key made from wal-mart or other key grinding place.)
Q: This has happened the last couple days and it keeps going off for no reason. I have no idea why?
Put the right wheels on it.
Q: I would guess that cars of similar type with car alarms are stolen no more than 5 percent less than cars without alarms. I suppose each of us has to weigh whether the reduced risk is worth the hassle to ourselves and neighbors when, as too often happens, the thing goes off inadvertently. A careful answer should address the fact that expensive cars are both worth more to steal and worth putting up with more hassle.
A car alarm will only deter a rookie thief. I would only invest in one if you are in an area with a very high crime rate. If you have a valuable car I would invest in something that will track the location of the car but not necessarily an alarm, because the alarm won't deter a professional and you just want to aid in the recovery of the car. An alarm or locating device will often give you a deduction in the cost of insurance for a valuable car too.
Q: I just bought a 1990 Mazda Miata. I believe this is a package B Miata. My problem is the alarm that came with it keeps arming itself that the siren would just go off without it being triggered. I don‘t want the alarm to be an annoyance to my neighbors so I cut the wire that goes to the siren. I am aware that this is not the solution to the problem. I want to completely un-install the alarm system but have no idea what kind of alarm I have. (previous owner doesn‘t have the manual). Can someone tell me what kind do I have. The setup is a 2 button type remote w/ I II on the buttons, a blinking red light on the center console just above the cup holder. It is not a keyless remote since the door locks are manually operated. My main concern is I don‘t know if this alarm comes with a starter kill switch, I know for sure that there are triggers installed on the hood, 2 doors and trunk of the car. Can someone please help me with instruction to properly uninstall this alarm. Thanks.
Look under the dash, and find where the harness comes down from the steering column. More then likely there is a wiring block that has been inserted into that point, look for the matching wiring block that is part of the factory harness. It should be close at hand. Plug the factory block in where the the after market harness come out. There will be other wires, some with taps and plugs that tie in to the lights and such at different points of the car. Many are under the dash. More then likely the wires run down the drivers side under the carpet next to the door and back to the trunk to a unit located in front of the space saver spare. If a harness adapter was not used there will be several wire taps that need to be cut and maybe some wires in the factory harness that need to be re-spliced back together. Hopefully yours will be like the one I removed that used an adapter harness.
Q: So I am planning to get a Toyota Corolla LE, what do you guys think it is a good price to purchase that car. currently there is an 1000 rebate incentive. one dealership offered me about $16,700 do you think it is a good deal? also when i do get the car do I need to buy additional car alarm system or will the car alarm be already installed? if i do need to purchase one which one will you recommend where do you know I can purchase one and get it installed? it is like body shops or something I just want a cheap one I cant afford much, GOD THIS IS SOO STRESSFUL gt;lt; I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT INSURANCE TO BUY, HOW AM SUPPOSE TO MAINTENANCE IT, THIS IS MY VERY FIRST TIME PURCHASING A CAR AND I LITERALLY KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT IT! SOMEONE PLEASE HELP !
:Lots of RD goes into wheel and tire size on vehicles so why change the size.
Q: Seriously, whens the last time you heard a car alarm and thought Oh my gosh, someone‘s car is getting stolen!?
They have a purpose, for example:The average thief isn't going to spend a few minutes trying to get stereo out of your vehicle with an alarm going off.
Q: Whenever I go to open my door on my golf the alarm always goes off and I have to walk to the passenger side door and unlock it and the alarm shuts off and that is the only way I know how to shut it off, and was wondering if there was any way to completely remove the alarm as I never have anything valuable in the cabin so there is no need for one. Any information would help or if you have had the same problem. I would really like to take it out completely if it is possible I have a full garage to work on it please let me know-thanks
check the harness inbetween the body and door chances are you will find broken wires, either fix them or replace the harness
