- Q:Do plastic tubes have any limitations in terms of light transmission?
- Yes, plastic tubes can have limitations in terms of light transmission. The type of plastic used, its thickness, and the presence of additives or impurities can affect the amount of light that can pass through the tube. Some plastics may have higher light absorption or scattering properties, which can reduce the amount of light transmitted through the tube. Additionally, longer or curved plastic tubes may cause further light loss due to internal reflection or refraction.
- Q:i finally bought a new faucet, and changed it. it seems that there is no more leaking from the faucet.but now, it seems that there is some water leaking right under that white plastic screw. around the plastic looking tube. inside of it, there is a dark rubber kind of ring around it. i can't take out the white plastic screw (i don't know the those special names.) otherwise, i will just put some plastic tape, and seal it. that shouldn't be so hard. so my question is 1. what do you recommend? should i buy a new tube? or is there any other way to fix this thing?extra question.2. the new faucet has the top iron thing and a black plastic base. i put the plumb's putty on the edge of top and bottom of the black plastic base. i am thinking what if there are some water leaking inside of the faucet, if i sealed the whole plastic base, the water will accumulate inside of it. did i do the right thing at all?
- Time to start over. The only place that you should sue plumber's putty is where the drain goes into the sink. On any connection that you have water running through, that will have pressure, you will need to use what is known as pipe dope. the spot that is leaking should only leak if the seal is broken. In which case, just go buy another one. If you bought the pipe dope, and new lines for both sides, you will spend less than $20. The supply line that you have in the pic seems to be relatively new, but it is possible that the seal can be damaged.
- Q:How can the PPR pipe be connected with the metal tube?
- The transition piece is a combination of plastic and metal, and the two materials are processed by injection molding process, and the anti leakage sealing is realized through the internal structure without adding other adhesive materials.
- Q:Does anyone know if i can run a aftermarket air filter right off of my Mass air flow sensor and my stock intake tube down to my turbo? I have a 1998 Audi A4 1.8 turbo
- No, but K+N does make a filter the fits in the stock location for your car and a kit to put on a cone-type open element filter.
- Q:Are plastic tubes suitable for use in the chemical industry?
- Yes, plastic tubes are suitable for use in the chemical industry. They are resistant to corrosion, can handle a wide range of temperatures and pressures, and are chemically inert, making them ideal for transporting various chemicals safely and efficiently. Additionally, plastic tubes are lightweight, cost-effective, and easy to install and maintain, making them a popular choice in the chemical industry.
- Q:Are plastic tubes resistant to warping?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally resistant to warping due to their flexibility and durability.
- Q:Can plastic tubes be reused?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be reused depending on their condition and purpose. If they are clean and undamaged, they can be washed and used again for various applications such as packaging, storage, or transportation. However, it is important to consider the type of plastic and any specific regulations or guidelines for reuse to ensure safety and effectiveness.
- Q:I was changing my engine oil via the dipstick tube and a special suction device that pumps the old oil out of the sump to be replaced with fresh oil. Unfortunately, i had to patch up a hole in the tube on the suction device with parcel tape/sellotape wrapped around and a small piece of tape (around 2x2 square) fell into the engine dipstick tube and appears to have slid down into the oil sump. Will the oil filter make any difference in keeping melted plastic out of the engine? Am i best calling up the manufacturer, not the dealer as i don't want them to know about my error. The engine still runs and i have driven 20 miles so far with no problems. 2009 year Citroen C1Thanks
- This is worrisome. As the others say, the worst scenario is the tape gets against the pickup screen and suddenly causes loss of oil pressure. If that happens you will immediately get a low oil pressure warning light but that's something you don't want to happen anyway. However since the piece of tape is 2 x 2 or thereabouts at this point it is almost certainly still rolled up and stuck at the bottom of the dipstick tube. There would not be room for it to easily escape and fall into the sump… yet. There should be one or two screws at the bottom of the dipstick tube to secure it to the engine. If you remove those screws and pull the dipstick tube out, with the dipstick unit, you should find the tape at or near the bottom of the tube. Remove the tape, throw it away, put the tube back in, and sin no more.
- Q:Can plastic tubes be used for storing beverages or liquids?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for storing beverages or liquids. Plastic tubes are commonly made from materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene, which are safe for storing food and beverages. They are often used for packaging liquids like juices, soft drinks, or even cosmetic products. These tubes are lightweight, durable, and have good sealing properties, making them suitable for storing and transporting various types of liquids.
- Q:The dishwasher behind my bar at work has a leak. The pipe that's leaking is Parker Parflex PP 3/8 plastic tubing that connects into a metal nut and brings clean water in. The pipe has a leak exactly where it meets the nut, so in theory I could cut off the cracked portion and then re-seal it to the nut. Can I cut it with wire cutters? Should it be sanded after I cut it? Do I use a teflon sealant? Thanks for any help!
- That should be a compression fitting. If it's a brass fitting then they are one time use. You can get a new brass fitting, cut the PP tube clean with a knife or a razor blade - be careful not to cut yourself please, then install the nut over the tube, slip the compression ring over the tube and if there's an insert that goes inside the PP, insert that. Then push the hose into the fitting and slide the nut and ring to the threaded portion of the fitting and tighten it. Be careful to tighten it enough to seal but not so tight you cut through the pipe again. It's likely the reason you have the leak in the first place is because someone overtightened it. OR you can simply buy a replacement hose. I'd prefer a wire braid shielded pipe. Stronger and made with a professional fitting on the end, one you don't have to mess with. My opinion, replacing the tube is the better idea. And they're not stupidly expensive either. Good luck with your project. '')
