Q: for our last day of term at uni, we are hoping to make a big water slide down our corridor, (about 12m x 2m) the sheet would have to be waterproof as it will be covered in either washing up liquid or baby oil (probably no actual water) at the minute our cheapest material is looking like bin bags and duct tape, but does anyone know of a cheap, plastic like material we could use instead, to avoid the inevitable leaks from the joins?
Go to any builders yard and you can get a massive roll of 1000g plastic which is generally used as DPC (damp proof course) under the floors of buildings. Cost...long time since I bought it about ?30/ or you can buy any length of it you like, off the roll.
Q: i have a water leak inside my car and its coming from inside the door panel, the plastic inside the door came apart from the metal so the water finds its way inside my car, im wondering what kind of adhesive i can use for this application. i know originally they use a butyl caulk/adhesive tape but idk where to find that stuff, anybody have any ideas?
Any of the good epoxies will work. Just make sure the epoxy is rated for outdoor use and the part to be glued is dry and clean before applying. If you can, after gluing and to make sure the parts stay in contact, you might use some duct tape to hold things together. If the repair isn't visible , you can leave the tape on. If it will be visible, the tape can be removed after the epoxy has cured. (allow proper curing times with longer curing times possible with winter temperatures)
Q: What are the bending capabilities of plastic sheets?
The bending capabilities of plastic sheets vary depending on the specific type of plastic and its thickness. Generally, plastic sheets are flexible and can be easily bent or molded into different shapes. However, the degree of flexibility and the maximum angle of bend differ based on factors such as the material's elasticity, temperature, and the presence of reinforcing agents.
Q: Put some drops of water on a glass or plastic sheet. After evaporation we seesome white spots like dust over?
And if you think that's gross, take a vial of ocean water and look under a microscope. We are NOT alone, there are SO many live things dwimming with us, bleakkssk!
Q: Do plastic sheets have any odor?
Yes, plastic sheets can have a slight odor. The odor is usually attributed to the materials used in manufacturing the plastic sheets, such as chemicals or additives. However, the intensity of the odor can vary depending on the type of plastic used and the specific manufacturing process.
Q: where do i find big sheets of clear or tinted plastic that is bendable, the size is 10 x 20 feet. in ontario?
Size 13
Q: Can plastic sheets be used for greenhouse siding?
Yes, plastic sheets can be used for greenhouse siding. They are commonly used due to their durability, affordability, and ability to provide insulation and UV protection for plants inside the greenhouse.
Q: milk bottle, shampoo bottles. i was thinking cut them open, melt them with a heat gun and roll them flat then how do i bond them into a big sheet?
Not really Physics. Try asking under Engineering.
Q: water has an angle of incidence of 35.0 degrees. At what angle does the light enter the air?
Actually the plastic sheet does not enter into the problem.. Let n_w = n water = 1.33; n_p = n plastic = 1.500; n_a = n air = 1.00 Now using Snell's Law we have n_w*sin(thetaw) = n_p*sin(thetap) = n_a*sin(thetaa) See how the middle part of the eqn is not needed... So n_w*sin(thetaw) = n_a*sin(thetaa) Therefore thetaa = arcsin(n_w/n_a*sin(thetaw)) arcsin(1.33/1.0*sin(35)) = 49.7o
Q: For example, photographs, checks, receipts? I have a Brother MFC-3240C which works very well with large pieces of paper. Are there plastic envelopes or sheet holders that hold smaller items, so they can be passed through the sheet-feeder?
You can buy the plastic sheetholders or you can make your own by attaching two blank transparency sheets together with a small band of double-stick tape between them at one edge. You can also make your own by buying the mylar film from an arts and craft store. But, remember that the more things you have between the scanning optics and the material (pictures) the more distortion is introduced. (The plastic film or sheet protectors will distort your picture very slightly.)
