- Very, I lived through the horrific 2003 San Diego fires and was in the Paradise fire. We watched in horror as they allowed the fire to burn down from it's point of origin in Valley Center to the very ridge of the canyon surrounding our subdivision. We are required to clear 100 feet of brush from any structure. We have the fire marshall give talks in our neighborhood to educate our neighbors as to what they can do to protect their property. We have a fire proof concrete roof, spark arrestors on our chimney, grow drought proof plants, keep all trees trimmed, remove dead plants, leaves and flammable debris promptly, do not burn fires on red flag or windy days, we have automatic sprinklers in our homes and our yards, we report the smell sight of smoke or the very sight of flame to our fire department immediately, we avoid the use of mulch or flammable ground cover close to or surrounding structures, we have practice evacuations because we are in a box canyon with one way in out, we have plans to assist our elderly neighbors and those with special needs in evacuation, and finally, my neighbor's farm has their own fire hoses fed by their well that are in a readied position to knock down flames until the fire department arrives.

- No it isn't behind the F/W. You already removed the clamp on the rubber hose?? If so get a razor blade and slit the hose starting at the firewall and going away from it for about 2.4 inches. Then take a screw driver and gently work it into the slit you cut and get the hose to release off the heater core pipe. Be carefull the heater core is brass or aluminum and deforms/crushes really easy then you are screwed. Heater hose is available by the foot(price) and custom cut for what ever you aske from a 50-100 foot roll. - Would you really do this to a cat? They're just way too proud and dignified to be turned into some living barbie doll. Cats that have fur don't need clothes- the only cat that might need and enjoy a sweater when going out in wintertime is the Sphynx (or any equivalent naked breed). I guess some cats could get used to it, but really, do you need to toy around with your pet just for your pleasure? It certainly won't be a treat for the cat.
