- You can. Most kits for water supply come with 15 or 25 ft of tubing. You might consider buying bulk 1/4 copper tubing so that you won't have any joints in spaces that you can't get to easily. One solid run would be best. If you were going to run the plastic tubing I have never seen it in lengths greater than 25 ft. If you cant get a longer piece you should be careful where you make a joint.

- Until your gerbil gets the hang of it, put the food on the level he does have access to. At times all it takes is a little time for them to realize there's more to their home. Once he does, he'll be able to have the food where it currently is. I do wish to make sure you know that gerbils do chew through plastic and make quick work of tubes and tunnels. Within a couple weeks there could be a hole large enough for him to get out. Please just keep an eye on him to make sure he's not chewing on it. If he is, you may want to put him in a safer cage. - what about plastic vitamin bottles? they are often tube-like? btw, can def show u how to make fun tube hotel out of the core of toilet paper rolls tho... 1. save 3 or more toilet paper roll cores. 2. make some holes on top of the cores so that the mice can climb from one tube to another. 3. get double sided tape (or staple the tubes together if its not sticking) and attach two toilet paper cores together, with the holes on opposite sides of the core so the mice can climb. you can just stack them all together on top of one another and voila! toilet paper core hotels... lol ps. mice loves to chew on things so to grind their teeth to a good length so its perfect for a chew toy too.
