Q:I hava a 12x12 ceramic tile that we want to hang on the wall (not permanently). The tile has no hooks or anything in it. What‘s the best way to hang it?
buy a pack of stick-on wall hooks from your local home store, Use the double sided foam 'tape' that comes with them. Make sure they're the kind with a tab that you can pull to release the tape.
Q:Hi, I`m planning a bathroom remodel soon, and I want to use the same floor tiles as before - they are beautiful! But I just can`t find them anywhere (we bought this house recently and the previous owner did the remodel, and we can`t get hold of him any more). If anyone recognizes them, I`d be really grateful if you could point me in the direction of where to find them. Thank you SO much!Further info: the tiles are a fraction under 4 square and are a kind of gray-based quartz or granite (not sure of the difference, sorry!) with flecks of aquamarine and blue that give it an overall pale blue hue. They sit between plain white tiles with the corners shaped to accept the smaller blue squares.I`ve looked in Lowes, Home Depot, Amazon and online but so far no luck :( !
You will have to contact a company and request a catalog of their tiles that they manufacture. After a run of tiles are made the next run will not be the exact same to match. It's very possible that no manufacturing tile company is still making the tile. With the wear and glaze that the tile has it would be impossible to get a match. I suggest that you shop for tiles that will enhance and blend with what you have and you may even use hard wood and tile aquamarine color that will pull the color hue from your present tile. The hardwood and tiles are beautiful. Hope this helps. Interior Decorator. Jo Ann
Q:I have 12x12 tiles in my kitchen on the floor and about 5 of them are cracked/damaged. How hard is it to replace them, can I do it myslef or hire a professional? What materials will be needed?
It's very hard to match the tiles. Also you will have to remove the grout around each broken one, and then crack the broken one into pieces, then remove clean the surface, apply adhesive, and then the tile, and then grout. The color of grout will never match up 100% and neither will the tile. Also it will take you a good part of the day. Good luck with your project!
Q:Does floor tile give a lot of heat? I want to get a tile substrate for my leopard gecko, but I don‘t know if it will get warm enough for him. I have an under tank heater, so if I put the tile in will the heat from the under tank heater block or go through the tile?
I put a little layer of sand under my tiles to fill up any air spaces under the tiles (as they're textured to hold grout). Tiles heat up and hold heat a LOT better than pretty much any other substrate. If you want some really neat tiles, try slate. They are really natural, come in awesome colors naturally and hold heat just as well as other tiles. But there are some really nice ceramics, too. Just don't get anything overly glazed.
Q:I want to remove all the white tiles in my kitchen as some are broken, others don‘t match up and basicially who ever tiled it initially may have been intoxicated, some have come off easy, but others are stuck on tight, tried using a chisel hammer to smash them, but they would splinter and smash like glass, does anyone know a easier less messier way i can do this?
If you have a broken tile you obviously don’t need to worry about saving it. You may be able to pry it off the wall by sliding the putty knife under the tile at a very low angle (almost parallel to the surrounding tiles), then moving the knife around to break the tile away from the glue or mastic holding it on. Depending on how loose the tile is you may be able to remove it by simply sliding your putty knife under the tile and prying up gently. If the tile won't come off you'll need to get rid of the surrounding grout
Q:How to use ordinary drill drill on the tiles to hang things hanging?
Yes, with a special drill (tile needle) is very easy to be able to drill eyes
Q:I want to buy six glass tiles for my science project but i don‘t know where to buy them. There are windows for sale but I don‘t want to use hundreds of dollars for a window.
cheap okorder
Q:I will be putting matching ceramic tile as molding....what is the best way to attach the ceramic molding to the wall?
Thinset mortar. They sell it at any hardware store. Buy the powdered form and mix it yourself. The premixed tends to cause problems because it contains an additive to keep it from drying out in the container. This can cause slippage of your tiles and be very frustrating.
Q:I have hot water radiant heat in a concrete slab that leaks occasionally so I can‘t put carpet on it. Do I dare put ceramic tile over it? Maybe the tile would keep the moisture down.
If you are positive it is leaking do not put anything over it. Fix the leak. It is not as bad as it sounds. If you know exactly where the leak is it is relatively easy to cut the concrete and repair the leak and then re-surface that area. Covering a leak with ceramic tile will only trap the moisture underneath it and eventually mold will develop in the grout joints.
Q:I think the thinset under some of my ceramic tiles is crumbling. I have a concrete slab floor and it involves about 12 tiles between my kitchen and dining room. The grout and tiles have not cracked yet, but how would I fix the thinset without breaking up the good tiles?
Hi there, in my opinion to improve, restore, and maintain the appearance of your ceramic tile you have to use the Tenax product because it is designed specifically for treated materials because 2 month before I have got the same problem so I search on a net for ceramic tile I got one which better than the other ceramic tile companies I call them and purchase Tenax product for my ceramic tile when I use it you really don’t believe the sound of crackling in my tile didn’t come by using of Tenax product so from my point of view I prefer the Tenax product so If you were interested visit the website which is given below.
