- Q: I have a bathtub that the bottom row of tiles are getting loose on the top portion. A few have come out.The row above seems ok.Can the bottom row be resealed or replaced without interfering with the upper tiles? If so how?
- Yes. I just did that very job recently. Use a masonry chisel and a rubber mallet to breakaway the remaining tiles along the bottom row by tapping the chisel lightly across the top and sides of the tiles. Be sure to hold the tiles directly connected to the one you are removing firmly against the wall as you gently pry the tile loose. If you pull any tiles away from wall they will also need to be removed and replaced as well. Carefully knock off all of the old grout and the old adhesive left on the wall. Clean and dry wall apply replacement tiles with tile adhesive/grout mix. use rubber tile spacers to keep the new tiles aligned while they set up. Remove spacers after 30 minutes and lightly rub off the excess grout with a tile float and damp sponge. Let dry overnight and buff with a clean towel. apply grout sealer and caulk along edge of tub and corners to insure a good waterproof seal. Good luck.
- Q: How to buy tiles? What kind of good?
- Are specifically described as follows: 1. Look at the tiles in addition to see whether there are black spots, bubbles, pinholes, cracks, with or without scratches, stains, missing edges, missing corners and other surface defects, but also pay attention to whether there is leakage Throwing, leakage and other defects. 2. weigh is the weight of the weight, try the tricks of the handle, for the same specifications of products, good quality, high density of brick feel more Shen, on the contrary, the quality of the product feel lighter.
- Q: i going to tile my whole house both floors bath room and all with the same tile it is a 20x20 tile diagonally where should i start and does it really matter where ?
- Start doing the largest area and do a 1/2 tile on the out side wall. All interior walls are supposed to be layed out to the out side and be square. Now if you have a long visible hall way near by, you may want to split that to get a good look at it from there. Its hard to positively say with out seeing it. I could visualize it then. Since this is a diagonal you cant control to much where the tiles land. If it were a straight lay, you d have a bit more control as to the layout. - Q: We have a fireplace in our lower level that is outdated, dingy old masonry and doesn‘t fit with the rest of our updates down there. I would like to tile over it and have it ready for use before our family comes over for Thanksgiving. What is the best method?
- You can attach tile directly to masonry, it has been done all over the world for centuries (Italy, Spain, Middle East all use tile on the exterior of buildings...) I would assume normal thin-set mortar would work, but I believe it would depend on the exact type of masonry- concrete block or clay brick. A thicker adhesive bed will likely be necessary to smooth over the rough surface, but because of the relatively porous surface of most types of masonry your bond should be excellent. My only word of caution would be if you have any cracks in the masonry. Make sure they are not active (widening and narrowing), which may occur with temperature and humidity swings. Either way, you may choose to weld the crack with epoxy to prevent any crack movements that may telegraph through your tile and crack it. - Q: What is the double tiles of tiles? How to distinguish polished tiles from the surface and throw glazed tiles. What is the thickness of each? What kind of microcrystalline stone?
- The difference between polished tiles and glazed tiles: ? 1, different specifications Polished tiles and cast glazed tiles in the size of the size of the above is also a certain difference, polished tiles are mainly used in the living room lights are more, the size is generally 600,800 tiles, and throwing glazed tiles are often 300 * 300 small Brick. ? 2, different colors Polished tiles of the color is relatively simple, not much change, the difference between the various colors of brick noodles will not be too strong, but the glazed tiles are not the same, throwing glazed tiles than polished tiles rich colors. Throwing glazed tiles are printed on the pattern after the shower glaze, the color to be more vivid, but also completely unrestricted, red, black, blue, blue and purple completely no problem. ? 3, different lines Polished tiles and polished tiles of the lines is not the same, the texture of polished tiles can not be very small, throwing glazed tiles can be done as fine as the needle and thread. ? 4, brick different Brick is the key to distinguish between polished tiles and glazed tiles, polished tiles are the color into the brick body inside, so the surface of the following 1-2mm brick body color and the surface is the same. And throwing glazed tiles are completely different, and will not penetrate into the brick body, look at the side of the brick, glazed tile layer is more obvious, it is obvious to see the glaze, if the brick surface is only a layer of a very Pu a color Layer is certainly a glazed tiles.
- Q: I'm decorating my bathroom with a soothing and relaxing water theme (sand and water colours - beige, white, earthy brown, pale blue, and pale green). I need a backsplash behind my sink and tiles in the shower area. Any ideas that would work with this theme?
- For the shower, I'd go for beige tiles with earthy brown grout (even with pale blue and pale green accents if you really want to make it decorative). That way it fits nicely with your theme and even if the shower gets dirty, the colors would disguise it nicely. For the backsplash, personally, I'd stick with the same color tile so it's kind of unified, but there I wouldn't use brown grout, I think it might look to harsh, so probably go with a white or off-white. Any tile store can get you colors similar to those that you already are or plan on using.
- Q: im looking for tips about PORCELAIN floor tiles.I read everywhere they can look like marble but without the maintenance issues, plus it is a harder material.I like the polished finishes .. and saw some samples of them.. rectified porcelain.I can‘t find much info on the net about its shape uniformity, but looks like they are kind of not so squared?I would like them big.. 24 inches, and spaced at the minimum which i think it is 1/8. But a few persons told me that is too close for porcelain and i should go with marble? The problem is that marble is much more expensive... so i don‘t know what to do.Are there brands of porcelain tiles known for their good uniformity... how should i shop for them.,? i don‘t know what to look for. please help. Please do not suggest any other type of flooring... im not interested. If porcelain is always not uniform, then what would the minimum spacing between tiles be so they look fine? Thanks a lot.
- I'm not sure what you're looking at but all the porcelain tiles I've seen are square. All square. Very square. There should be no uniformity issues whatsoever. Go to a home improvement store and take a look. The tile type really has very little effect on spacing. However if you want 24 tiles I would suggest 1/4 grout lines at least. It will be extremely difficult to maintain a straight even grout line If you go 1/8. Imagine, if for some reason one tile was out of square a little or slightly offline (which does happen) the grout line would disappear completely. The grout would also be more likely to break if there was any movement in the floor. If you insist on 1/8 spacing, it can be done, but the results will be almost definitely poor.
- Q: Foreign ceramic tile brand
- You want to do tiles business, then these investments are much less of the more than a hundred thousand or so to almost more than 50 million
- Q: I was wondering about space between tile when laying tile floor. I have seen online and in person tile floors(don‘t know marble or porcelain or what) where it is completely flat and smooth and the tiles appear butted together. I prefer this look as opposed to the typical tile floor with grout lines that are shallower than the tops of the tile. I was wondering how to get this flat look when every where I have read online says you cannot or at least should not butt tiles together. I hope I described what im looking for accurately and am hoping to get some options. Again I am looking for a flat smooth surface nothing with the dips or recesses of the grout lines. how is that done??
- Installing a floor with that kind of precision is not easy. Any mismatch in elevation and you can end up with a sharp corner or edge to cut your foot as you walk along. Personally, I'd opt for the grout lines. But yes, I understand you don't want them. So I guess I shouldn't have even bothered answering because I do not answer your question. Sorry. Best of luck with your project. '')
- Q: Do I start in the middle like normal tile? What happens if I don‘t start in the middle due to the uneven wall?
- Peel and stick tile can be good depending on the surface your sticking it to. The last time I did peel and stick I had an old basement floor with tile that was 40 years old. I cleaned all the old tile, sealed it and the peal and stick tile worked great! One thing about peel and stick tile is that its vinal and will Sink into any inperfections in the floor several weeks after its initially put down. For example, lets say you go over an old tile floor and there is a small gap between the old tiles. The floor will look great when you install it, but in several weeks the gap in the old tiles will start to show. Also if your installing it on plywood, make sure the floor does not move when you walk accross it. If the floor moves in any way, the tiles will start to come up or crack. As far as where to start, its more of a visual thing. Just lay the tiles out first and do a little measuring so when you get to a wall you don't have a tile that is 2 inches or looks out of place
