3. What's the characteristics about porcelain tiles and glazed tiles? Which one
more slippery, more aesthetically pleasing and easy to clean?
Glazed tiles are colorful, the effect is rather diverse, stain-slip, abrasion resistance but worse than the porcelain tiles. Long-term use may wear a large surface; porcelain tiles have the higher degree, long hard wear surface. Good performance and stable cleanup (before playing the best times to use the wax to improve stain resistance). The porcelain tiles are weaker performance in non-slip than glazed tiles. We should take attention on its anti-slip properties, face down in a tiled brick water testing.
4. How to choose bathroom tiles? Porcelain tiles or glazed tiles?
Currently used in the bathroom tiles with glazed tiles (mainly from price considerations, some high-end can choose tiles, notice to choose tiles), divided into Shinny and Matt two kinds. - The easiest way is to average the widths, and do you lay out from there. So, if the 3 tiles, on average covers 18 (with grout joints) then you can get a very good idea of what the lay out should be. Hope this helps.

- Is this tile in the shower? If so you need to pull up the tile and have a tile membrane installed on the floor to waterproof the area. If it is outside the shower the wood should be treated wood or it will bulge and crack the tile in the future. If it is treated wood then you can just lay replacement tile down. If they know what they are doing and have the appropriate help, then any tile job can be done in one day.

- Q: Looking to install ceramic tile over concrete basement slab, 12x12 or 13x13 tiles. Main question is how perfectly level/flat does the concrete need to be. If I put a tile down and there is some minor rocking is that no good or will the thinset adhesive take care of that.
- Any rocking means the tile is hitting either a high spot or there is a low spot. Low spots can be dealt with the thin set. As long as its less than a 1/4. High spots usually needs to be ground down flat. So to answer your question , for ease of installation and the prevention of cracked tiles at a later date, floors need to be as flat as possible. If you have minor rocking with no thin set down, in some cases a larger sized trowel will do the trick. Each case is different and has to be dealt with differently. - Q: We just installed laminate wood floors tiles in our open space living/kitchen room. We put ceramic tiles in the kitchen area the wood laminate in the living area. Due to time constraints we had to get the laminate installed first before the tiles. Our tiler was supposed to put something between the wood the tiles but didn‘t. He‘s not being very cooperative about completing this, so we are trying to do something ourselves.What can we put there, so that the grout stops coming apart where the tiles laminate wood meet?Thanks.
- You need a T molding. Sold to match your laminate. Buy it at the same place you got the laminate.
- Q: It is in my kitchen , hall and bath. Is the reason that tiling is so expensive becasue of having to remove the old tile first?
- If the existing tile is sound and not loose you can tile over it. You must use modified thin set motar adhesive. The only way to remove tile is to beat it off. Since (as you say) is is directly on wood you may get lucky and the bond is not tight. If this is the case you may get it off using a shovel to scrape and pry. If not safety glasses long sleeves, a hammer and chisel are the way to go.
- Q: I am tiling my bathroom and in the process of re-tiling the shower stall. I removed the old plastic liner there and now some of the glue remains on the greenboard. Also, some of the green part of the board is ripped of from when the glue came off with the old liner. Some of the paper is flakey in spots. I pulled off some of the loose pieces, but there is more. Now, I‘m an amateur. I was told to use some grout sealer to go over the greenboard. However, since there are flakey pieces of paper from the greenboard on there still, should I simply remove as much as I can before sealing and tiling? Will the seal glue these flakey pieces down and make them secure for tiling? What is your advice? Many thanks!
- First of all, remove the greenboard that was under the tile. Replace it with cement board-that's a MUCH better subbase for tile. The peeling you experienced with the board that's up will cause you problems down the road. If you can't remove the greenboard, then your best bet is to sheet over the greenboard with 1/4 cement board, available in the flooring department at Home Depot. You will need to transition the tile where it meets the drywall outside the shower. In no case do you want to apply tile to the damaged greenboard. It will not last.
