Q: Does anyone know how to refinish or paint ceramic tile? Or a website showing me how? Please help! =): Toffy's okorder /... Basically, you'll need to get the tile very clean, paint in several coats and then seal it with a good urethane. You need to be cautious about floors that will consistently get wet which would cause you problems with the paint and urethane. Also, if you paint and seal your floor I would treat it more like a wood floor as far as cleaning is concerned since you're now just going to be cleaning a urethane surface. Lastly, can I offer some free advice? Once you start painting that floor there is no turning back. It would be almost impossible to remove the paint if you don't like the way it looks and you would probably just have to rip the flooor out or put another flooring over the top of it as Toffy mentioned. If I was thinking about doing this, I would get some similar tiles to what you have and just lay them on a piece of plywood in the garage and do a quick grout job. It doesn't have to be perfect. I would do some testing with paint and urethane to see how it looks and how well it will hold up to wear.

Q: can I lay porcelain floor tiles butted up with no grout. These will be laid on underfloor heating? They are quite large 600 x 600. Any info will help. Thanks: No you shouldn t.. Dirt, dust and every day stuff will accumulate in the joints and be almost impossible to get out. All tiles are designed to have a space, some smaller and some larger than others. The grout the goes between the tiles is part of the system to make it stable. Sealing the grout is a major help in keeping it clean and stain free, if this is your concern. Porcelain is made to have a sanded grout along with a space of 1/8 to about 1/4 inch. Or 3/6 mm This spacing will also help make up for minor tile sizes that will throw you off if you try to but them tight. What am I getting into, and how hard is it to work on tile roof?: Professional here, are you talking about Slate tiles, Spanish tiles, or shingles ?? Flashing around vents requires a pointing trowel with the end tip broken off, makes it easier to apply around flashing, I would use Karnak brand myself, have used it 20 yrs commercially. You would require skill to get this right even if you try. Replacing any so called Tiles also requires experience, if you never walked a roof, you could kill yourself. When it was installed it had pre-glued backing and I would like to know the easiest way to remove it. THANKS: Both 1 2 offer valid sugestions. You will need a floor scraper. The heat gun is good tool for the tile removal but don't strictly depend on it for any adhesive residue. Envision scraping heated adhesive. Similar issue will arise if you use solvents. Not knowing what the substrate is, and/or what affect any removal will have on it; you may have to skim over with thinset. Steven Wolf
