3. Can we use the carton with our own design and brand name?

- Q: What‘s the average cost to install tile baseboards? I‘m replacing my wooden baseboards with tile and was just wondering what an average price to just do the baseboards with tile. I have roughly 1500 inches of floorboard that is going to be done and I am looking to use 20 X 20 inch tile. No bullnoseing or anything special, just cut the tile and install.Thanks
- UNLESS IT IS BATHROOM, LAUNDRY ROOM OR KITCHENS I JUST CANT PICTURE PUTTING CUT TILE IN. IT WILL LOOK TACKY WITHOUT A BULL NOSE OR A DECORATIVE STYLE. I RECOMMEND YOU JUST CHANGE OUT THE BASEBOARD TO A UPGRADED STYLE. WHAT DO YOU HAVE NOW? BASEBOARDS COME IN DIFFERENT STYLES AND SIZES FROM 2 1/2 INCH TO 6 INCH WITH DIFFERENT TOP CAPS. GO TO LOWES ETC AND CHECK THEM OUT BEFORE YOU DECIDE

- I would recommend using cement board in the shower (assuming you will be taking the green board out). You'll be using the 1/2 cement board for the walls. While you're at it, don't forget to install a moisture barrier, and be sure to seal the joints of the cement board with modified thinset and waterproofing membrane, and don't make the mistake of using mastic for setting tiles. If it's just around the bathroom walls and not in the shower, consider the size and weight of the tiles. If they are just your standard 4 1/4 tiles, just tile straight to the wall. - Accidentally staining or on purpose staining it is very hard to get anything to stick to ceramic tiles. Any paint even epoxy will wear off and look shabby very quickly. One way to distract people from the plain white is to take out tiles in a pattern and replace them with some colorful tiles that will draw people's attention from the main color. You can take out those tiles by using a hand grout saw to take off the grout surrounding the tiles you want to remove. Then smash those tiles in the center with a pointed centerpunch and a small hammer. Work your way out toward the edges of the smashed tile until you have cleared their entire square. That is where you are going to cement-in and grout the new colorful ones. It is time consuming but it will upgrade the floor and make people forget the basic off-white.

- Buddy, you need to trot down to Home Depot and buy a tile book. Grout and mortar don't do anything to tiles.

- Q: There is a white ceramic tile floor with white grout in my bathroom. Some of the mastic (I think it was a combination mastic and grout, that could be used either way) is on top of the tile and dried on. Is there any way I can get it off there other than trying to chip at it and possibly ruin the tile?
- Your tile has a glazed finish on the top side and while grout/mastic sticks to it to some degree, it doesn't really adhere very well. You should be able to use a rigid scraper to remove it and any fine residue will come off with a green scratch pad, all without doing any damage to the tiles.

- Spanish tiles such as satillo etcetra is like an adobe, made of clay, very durable and strong, nice looking...It is also prefered for diy'selfers that want to save money and install thier own...Spanish tile usually have slighty irregular edges, not perfectly straight, and on purpose..they do not have to be perfectly straight when laid due to these irregular edges..but keep as straight as possible, but becuase of the irregularities, the eyeball cannot see the ones not perfectly straight..They are a very pourous tile, so use a good sealer after instilation...You can buy these tiles straight edged too, but these would be for the professional to install if you have no knowledge of them..
- Q: I rent but we have cracked a couple of white kitchen counter tiles. Is there a quikfix alternative to replacing them? We realize the solution would be cosmetic.
- i..just go to your local Lowe's and get your white replace,emt tiles...get a grout chisel and get the grout out and take the cracked tile out...get you premixed tile mortar and put your new tiles back on and re-grout with your same premixed mortar..(it's called premixed mortar and grouta)...whhoollaaah your done.....any flooring specialist can walk you through it if you should have questions..
- Q: I need to know if flexbond is the best stuff to use for this type of job for a do it yourselfer. I have never worked with this stuff. I have only used regular thin set mortar in the past. Is it hard to work with?? And to lay the tiles this large do I have to butter the mortar on or can I just trowel it onto the plywood floor?Thanks, Fran
- Tile and use almost as a regular thin set. Flexbond like any stronger thin set will tend to set up a bit faster than standard thin set . This because of the added latex in the thin set. Mix a bit less than normal. Mix and let set for 5/10 minutes and mix again, being very important when using extra modified thin set. Although this is a stronger thin set and will bond to ply wood.
