FAQ

1.    For Polished Porcelain Tile, is the 30*60 available?

—— Yes, 30*60 is available. Due to the basic size is 60*60, we need to cut 60*60 tile into 30*60. 6 pcs are packed into one carton.

2.    What is the MOQ for this tile?

—— Normally the MOQ is 1382.4 m2 for one 20’ container. To support our clients, we could go with 3 models to fill one container at most.

3.    Can we use the carton with our own design and brand name?

—— Yes. Normally we go with Neutral Carton or our Carton with our CMAX brand name. But for carton of client’s own design, the MOQ for one size is 5 containers, due to the carton factory can’t arrange production if quantity is below 5000 pcs.

Q:I am tiling my kitchen countertop and want to put in some wood trim pieces around the front edge like is in newer homes with tile countertops. What I want to know is, where in Lowe‘s can I get that? Is it going to be with all of the moulding, etc., and am I looking for something inparticular? Thanks!
It's in the tile section at the back end of the row, at least in most of their stores. If its not there just ask someone in the flooring department, unlike Home Depot, Lowes actually has employees you can find. One thing to watch for is depth of the store bought moulding, make sure it doesn't hang down too far and inter fear with your drawers, if it does you can rip off the excess on a table saw
Q:Just moved into a house with tile floors, I have fiber mopped, stick-vac‘d, wet mopped them and they still feel gritty on my bare feet. Anyone have any suggestions or will they always feel dirty?
They may be made like that so you don't slip on them. Smooth tiles are dangerous and many women have broken hips on them. So they started adding a roughing to the finish to make them safer. This may be what you are dealing with. Sorry.. Its not dirty, its being safe.
Q:can you use marble tile for counter top
You can use any type tile you like. Just be aware of what can and cannot be done with the type you choose. Scratching, burns and cracking are the most common downfalls of countertop tiles. First thing to consider before applying any type tile is to make sure the counter is capable of supporting the additional weight. The foundation is the most important part of any building process.
Q:Can you put ceramic tile over the commercial grade hard plastic vinyl tile? It would be really hard to break up off the floor. It is stuck on there really good.
No. Unless you put concrete backer board over the vinyl first, then the tiles onto the backer board. The only problem with this is that you would be raising your floor by an inch or so, and could run into problems with door jambs, molding, transitions, etc.
Q:I‘m gutting my bathroom and will be tiling the floor and then adding a new vanity and a new toilet. The question is, do you tile before you put in the toilet and new vanity or do you put in these items first and then tile around them? Concrete slab foundation that I‘m currently working on leveling.
SOME 10 point answers so far. I hope you acknowledge all of them. The issue relates to what you might want to change, Down the road and please know that home builders, don't usually do any flooring under a vanity,,,sigh. I've installed multiple thousands of sq. ft. of flooring, and have re-modeled more bathrooms than anything else, and have to say if nothing is in the bathroom yet, your looking at installing not much more than a 30x24 inch area of tile UNDER where the vanity will be, and less under where the toilet will be. At current prices, and without the added labor you're cost might be less than another $50 for the better way to go. Seems logical to me. Still, give everyone above me some thanks. Tiling, sheet vinyl, hardwood, Solid GOLD, UNDER a toilet is a natural assumption, and allows for NO odd cuts. Assume however, that one day you might want a pedastal sink as opposed to that GLIT vanity. If you install flooring Under, it'll still be there, if you change your notion. Very realistically TILE, etc. Will NOT be on the shelf, to match, 5 years from now. Steven Wolf
Q:i going to tile my whole house both floors bath room and all with the same tile it is a 20x20 tile diagonally where should i start and does it really matter where ?
Start doing the largest area and do a 1/2 tile on the out side wall. All interior walls are supposed to be layed out to the out side and be square. Now if you have a long visible hall way near by, you may want to split that to get a good look at it from there. Its hard to positively say with out seeing it. I could visualize it then. Since this is a diagonal you cant control to much where the tiles land. If it were a straight lay, you d have a bit more control as to the layout. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL

Q:I just bought a new houses that we will build. The decorator went through the selection of tile and want to charge us $9000 for 1500 sf surface and $6800 for a group 3 granite counter top with island. It feels a little pricy. Anybody have experience with new builder and want to expect for flooring and granite counter top?
No - it's not pricey. The tile price works out to $6/sq ft, which is very average. All prices have been rising, too - every week it seems! For my clients, $6/ sq ft is average. You will find cheaper tile, and you will find more expensive - but that figure gives you a good starting point and lots of options. Without knowing the size of your countertops, I cannot comment on the price. However, the average home I work on is at least $6000 for a granite countertop - depends on what color, edge style, and size, of course.
Q:I had subway tile installed over a standard size tub. The tiler used 2 x 6 bullnose for the vertical boarder rather than maintaining the staggered look by using 3 x 6 bullnose short as I initially intended. Is there a most common approach for the vertical subway boarder around a tub?
There is no particular common approach for tiling a vertical border with bullnose pieces. It is usually just personal preference. Sometimes people will not even use a bullnose piece for the border, they will just pick out some type of decorative piece and use it for the border. Assuming that you used a ceramic gloss white or black (most common colors in subway tiles) , there is usually a wide variety of sizes available in bullnose peice sizes. It is NOT Uncommon for your border pieces to be a different size than the rest of your subway tile if the size picked finishes the tile work off and ties it together in an interesting way. If however you were prompted to ask this question because you asked a Tile Installer to use the 3x6 size and he refused stating that he was using the most common method, then you are most likely dealing with an installer that did it a way other than you specified because he(or she) did not feel like taking the time to make extra cuts it would require for your size to work... The only exception to my last sentence would be if there is something structural that I am not aware of. Hope this helps.
Q:I have calculated that I need 388 tiles, each 9 inches big, how many come in one box?, I need to know how many boxes to order
Peter is right, each tile manufacturer will box their tile in different size boxes (per s/f). And w/o know the s/f of the area to be tiled no one can tell you how many tiles you need. Most tile is sold by the box now any ay. So in most cases you ll need to buy whole boxes plus waste for cuts. Any questions or if you come up with more info you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there. GL
