Q:I'd like to make a short cape from rubber balloon material for a stop motion puppet but I can't find any balloons that are large enough for my needs. I planned on using the balloon and treating it like cloth, but simply glueing the balloon parts into a cape form. Is there some sort of craft material out there that has a similar texture to balloons but is produced as a sheet? Is there a better material I can use?
Because there are our traditions and you must respect them. Other traditions: Don stop on red traffic lights. Parking on prohibited zones. etc
Q:We live in a new house (first owners). We moved in about 11 months ago, and have never had a problem with the smoke detectors. Then last week came along, and something weird happened. They started beeping. And I don't mean just beeping randomly - they were beeping in a pattern. It's an incredibly high pitched sound that makes you go insane on a couple of them, which lasts for a couple seconds, and then a REALLY loud one that goes for about 5 seconds. We can't pinpoint which is responsible for what, but the bottom line is that this is weird. However, my mom came home, opened up some windows, and it eventually went away. But now it's back again. It's LOUD. It woke our entire house up and we don't know what to do. Is this a common problem, or is this a concern?
hot topic:] (love this store!)
Q:I live in Tampa,Florida and i need to know who to contact about getting speed bumps put in on my street?
I blew out two tires when I was driving after dark one evening, and went through what appeared to be a puddle of water, that was really a very deep pot hole full of water. As I pulled to the side of the road, there were three other cars that had done the same thing. We all decided to individually write letters to the city, because I pay taxes so that the roads are properly maintained, and obviously they are not doing their job. Shockingly, they refunded myself and everyone else for our expenses. A speed bump may be different, since it is suppose to be there, but it's worth a shot. If you explain the situation, they may just be understanding.
Q:I work in an 8 story apartment building that houses primarily retired old folks. I live in Rochester NY. There are roughly 200 apartments in the building. I noticed within a week of working there that the place is a total fire-trap. There are no sprinkler systems, no phones in the 2 elevators, no building-wide fire alarm incase a fire breaks out, just a few single fire alarms and the ones inside the apartments. There is a fire hose system on each floor, but no hoses. I am very worried that some night a fire will break out on one of the lower floors and many hard of hearing, slow, older people on the upper floors will have no chance of making it out. The only person on duty from 12am-8am is the doorman and theres no way he could stay and call 200 units and warn them. Every year this building passes inspection. How can this be? Is the apartment manager paying someone off?
And now for something completely different. You need only a length (about 15 feet) of wide plastic drainpipe and a brick. You upend the drainpipe and, from a first floor window, drop the can into the top of the drainpipe, followed by the brick. You read it here first.
Q:I have some pairs of safety goggles used in science experiments. Now that I have an airsoft gun, I'm wondering if those goggles are safe enough to protect my eyes from BBs'?The guns I have are 300FPS.
Personally I always use a small propane torch to warm poly pipe for fittings, of course don't over heat, it sure beats fighting with it. I've been doing it that way 18 years with no problems
Q:every time i try to access the control panel i get the windows pop up that says explorer.exe has encountered a prob and needs to shut down (just like when the net freezes ands it gives you the op of sending a report to windows) then my whole start bar across the bottom goes away along with all my icons on my desktop, but everything returns in a few sec. then i was able to access CP after i turned off norton. but that only lasted a day. then i figured out the back door local disk/windows/system32/control. it worked. but only for a day. and i have ran at least 10 diff complete scans and nothin. as for windows sec.. when i try to open it i just get a pop up that says (an exception occurred while trying to run shell32,control_rundll wscui.cplany help will be great b4 i throw comp out the window
I agree with Duke1414 - since it is a drainage pipe, its not required to be pressurized tight like a supply line. Make sure you have new compression fittings. In order for those compression fittings to work properly, you need to make sure that the pvc pipes are lined up with one another. If they are shoved in at an angle, that could cause a void allowing water to leak.
Q:Why is electricity SO expensive in Aus. when the coal industry (coal fired power stations) receives subsidies?
No, it's not possible to smoke with it. If you do smoke, the Alarm is going to go offwaking everyone in your area, causing the closest fire department to send a hook ladder fire truck to your apt. hose it you down completely, Plus, you'll have a reputation no one will forget-they'll even have you on the local TV news! WHY CHANCE IT?
Q:I tried and found that the fiberglass resin just peels off. It might be because I put poly-eurethane down first. I bet I have to sand that all off before I try again. Here's what I was attempting to do: I've made a redwood countertop for my vanity. I want to protect the surface from water and from damage from things that might be dropped and from scratches. I figured the fiberglass resin would work nicely, but I think I got a bit ahead of myself when I put down poly-eurethane. I'm thinking I have to clean the surface then strip the poly off before trying again. It's $14 a can of resin. Not real expensive but it can be a rather expensive lesson if not done right.Do you have any advice? Any experience? I could use the help.Thanks.
I dont think we have any factories in Melbourne anymore-no manufacturing industry-everything has gone offshore.
Q:In the city of New York, is it legal for a fire hydrant to overlap a bus stop? Isn't that a safety hazard?
First off make sure your computer is off to stop the damage from continuing. (although it sounds like its already beyond help here are your options). 1. Assuming you can install and run things on your computer then I recommend going and getting Norton anti virus and solving this nightmare once and for all. 2. If you can't do that then you need to go through the harder route. Start your computer i safe mode with command prompt. Now if your a good dos man and know the dos commands then you might be able to copy data. Whether you are or not is a mute point that just determines if you lose anything. (I'm personally not) So now restart your computer but put in a windows CD. We have yet another fork in the path we can either A. Install a fresh copy of Windows (which means you lose everything and you start from new, or B you can try the repair option to restore your control panel. By the sounds of it your going to have to go with option 2 the b route. That means go to the store get yourself the exact version of windows your using (if your using windows xp professional don't go buying home edition because that won't help you.)
Q:How do I use 4WD on a 2000 jeep grand cherokee this is my first 4wd vehicle and just wondering if when i do put it into 4wd if I should use 4 full time/high or what? I'll be driving at speeds about 35mph and will be going on the x way also. I know that your supposed to put it in nuetral before putting the 4wd on.
You could hang a plastic shower curtain liner (on a separate rod) behind the curtain until you come up with something you like better.
