- Q: a company is producing rectangular sheets of plastic. each has an area of (9x^2+30x+25) ft^2.. The dimensions of each sheet are of the form ax + b, where a and b are whole numbers. Find an expression for the perimeter of a sheet. Find the perimeter when x=4 ft.
- Let a = 3 Let b = 5 (3x + 5)? = (3x + 5)(3x + 5) (3x + 5)(3x + 5) = 9x? + 15x + 15x + 25 9x? + 15x + 15x + 25 = 9x? + 30x + 25 The perimeter (p(x)) is: p(x) = 4(3x + 5) p(4) = 4(12 + 5) p(4) = 48 + 20 p(4) = 68
- Q: Hi guys, I'm about to tile my bathtub surround and have some questions regarding moisture barriers. I already have the 1/2 durock cement board and 6 mil plastic sheeting. Before I put up the plastic sheeting on the studs, I wanted to double check to see what people thought was a better moisture barrier... Redgard painted directly onto the cement board or the 6 mil heavy duty plastic sheeting attached to the studs. If you pick one over the other, can you tell me why? Is there a difference in how well each one will protect from long term moisture problems? It would be nice to hear the pros/cons to Redgard vs the plastic sheeting.I'm debating whether or not I should just go buy some Redgard and leave my plastic sheeting for another purpose. But if they both offer the same long term protection, then I'm happy just sticking with my plastic sheeting since it will save me a trip to the store and I am more familiar with that as a moisture barrier.
- I've done a whole lot of this work over the years. Redgard is the best product I've ever seen for a moister barrier It's the standard for shower / tub surrounds. It's easy to use and will protect for a lifetime. Hang your cement board with the proper screws. Tape the seems and corners with fiberglass tape. Paint the redgard over the entire surface. Let dry; you know it's dry because it will turn from pink to red in color. Add another coat (or two) over the seems and corners to make sure the seems are sealed. Let dry. Install your tile or stone using thin set mixed with polymers. When you grout make sure to mix your grout with polymers. I know some guys who will use thin set to mud the seems before taping. This works well if you have some bigger gaps, but redgard is pretty thick stuff, like pudding. This type of installation will insure no water gets back behind your walls and will last a lifetime. Plastic has the issue of nail / screw holes, trapping water, and condensation. Redgard dose not because it is a moister barrier that you can lay tile directly on. There are other options and systems, but they tend to be more costly and harder to install. On a side note: I find redgard dose not apply well with a roller. It's very thick. I like to use a large brush. Plus a brush helps insure a good thick coat.
- Q: I need a FULL size plastic sheet for an adult size bed (not a crib). I've looked at my local stores like WalMart but can't find them anywhere. I'm not looking for a link to a site where I can order them. I need to go pick one up today to have it for immediate use.Thank you
- Rather than a plastic or rubber sheet...try this. Call them, they probably have an alternative mattress cover, not this exact one, but similar. It isn't as hot to sleep on and yet it will protect against accidents.
- Q: Basically what are the pros and cons of plastic covering the ground in a effort to keep in warms, moister and produce a vegetable crops sooner in the ground, and bigger. Please don't say google people over there tend to get long winded, rabble on, and get off subject sometimes. Thank you in advance!!
- I don't know. I've seen many farms in Australia use plastic on the ground along rows of crops. I think these are drip fed though. I haven't heard of plastic mulch.... it doesn't sound like something I'd want on my veges. When I lived in a more temperate climate (regular frosts in winter and slow starting springs), I'd put the seed in the ground and put the top maybe 1/4 of a plastic bottle over the top and twisted into the ground a bit. Seemed to work fairly well, then when it was warmer and the seedlings were bigger I just took them off. My brother put plastic on bits of his garden (in a more tropical climate) and everything just went manky. The soil got too hot, couldn't breathe properly and there was mould issues. The seedlings all died. You can always start the seedlings indoors - although I've never had much luck transplanting them.
- Q: Seems like no matter what I do I always seem to get blood on my sheets when on my period. How can I prevent this?
- Toss out several scoops of Kitty Litter.
- Q: What is the effect of lining the bottom of your deep freezer with plastic sheets of material?
- I cannot think of any benefit to doing that unless the deep freezer has a bad seal and is constantly forming ice. As far as I can tell, the plastic sheet would only serve to contain the ice so that it is easier to clean the freezer. Naturally, you have to remove everything in the freezer in order to dump the ice off the plastic sheet, then put everything (including the plastic sheet) back in the freezer. I'm not an expert on this, but I think that your energy bill for the freezer would go up. Plastic doesn't really freeze at the temperatures you are talking about, so putting plastic sheets in a freezer just means that the freezer will have to draw that much more energy (as it tries to freeze plastic). A little Google research showed me that the 'line with plastic sheets' thing is a do-it-yourself measure to try to cover up the problem(s) with the original plastic liner of the freezer. It doesn't look like it works. Perhaps time to start budgeting for a new freezer.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for architectural models?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for architectural models. They are commonly used due to their versatility, durability, and ease of shaping. Plastic sheets can be easily cut, bent, and formed into various architectural elements, making them ideal for creating detailed and accurate models of buildings and structures.
- Q: We are using this for a slip and slide at a camp and need some plastic that is sturdy and will withstand many kids going down it. 6 mil is the minimum, but 8 to 10 mil is prefered and it needs to be about 40 ft x 100 ft. We'd prefer no black, as it will be super hot in the sun. I have already called a few local farm stores, Lowes, and Home Depot. Are there any places that I may have forgotten?
- Lowes and Home Depot carry 20'x100' clear plastic rolls. Why cant you just make two slip and slides or duct tape it together on the bottom side? I know a roll of this costs about 90 dollars a roll so I would imagine that if you find 40'x100' rolls they will be at least 150 dollars a roll.
- Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to warping from heat?
- Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to warping from heat. However, the level of heat resistance can vary depending on the type of plastic used and the specific temperature it is exposed to.
- Q: The difference between extruded board, polystyrene board and extruded polystyrene foam board
- 4 rubber powder polyphenyl particle insulation slurry, thermal conductivity 0.057-0.06, good flame retardancy, waste recovery, insulation effect is not ideal, high construction requirements.5 polyurethane foam material, thermal conductivity of 0.018-0.024, good waterproof, good insulation effect, high strength, more expensive.6 perlite and other slurry, thermal conductivity 0.06-0.08, good fire resistance, high temperature resistance, poor insulation effect, high water absorption.
