- Q: im looking for a scrapbook with paper sheets, no plastic. my idea is to glue down envelopes for my wedding guest book where they can add notes in it. obviously, the plastic lined ones wont do, and i need one with just paper sheets, kind of like a portfolio. any idea of where to find one? ive looked at michaels and they dont have them. - Q: I want to build a faster oven for drying plastic sheets. I currently us an 8'x8' low temp gas oven but need to dry more material faster. I've seen info on a woodworker that built a Microwave dryer for large wood projects and wonder if the same technology can be used to dry plastic. A major concern of course is containing the microwave radiation. I'm open to any safe ideas.
- I think the microwave oven frequency will quickly evaporate water from the surface your plastic, but not other liquids, that contain no water. A specific frequency is best for evaporating each kind of liquid, so perhaps you can use multiple frequencies. I tried drying some wet kindling wood with our microwave oven, and was disappointed in the results, so perhaps what you heard was an exaggeration. Neil
- Q: I have an 08 Hyperlite Era board that has a big problem. the top plastic sheet is peeling off at the edges and it is dragging in the water bad. i dont want to buy a new board but i cant fix it. I have already tried a permanent epoxy-resin but it was destroyed after the first use. I am now thinking of shrink wrapping a resin type plastic onto the whole edge but i dont know what i am doing. Does anybody have any suggestions?
- The easiest way is to joint compound over the peeled areas, then sand (wet sanding is much neater) prime and paint. If the damage is really bad, you'll have to cut out the bad piece, screw in a new one, tape the seams, then sand and repaint.

Most adhesives that apply in liquid form will not work well, and almost all will have smell that remains for some time One adhesive that would work well both on plastic sheeting, have virtually no smell, and will remain solid under dirt is hot glue, but application is time-consuming, and you will have to be careful with the application temperature, as it has to stick onto the plastic, but not melt through it. A heavy-grade plastic sheet will be needed/ You have some choice in the melt points of the glue stick and can ask at the store about the lowest melt sticks they have. . - I buy plastic sheets for a lot of uses. They come in letter page size. Very flat objects should be okay. But I have always used a flat bed scanner. It is also good when you want to copy something from a book or even artwork. These scanners can be had for $50.
