Q: How wide of a tire can I mount without problems on the standard 16X6.5 aluminum OEM 5 spoke wheel on my 99 Pontiac Gran Prix GT? The standard size is 225/60. Would like to go a bit wider but dont want rubbing problems on the daily driver!! Thanks: you can actually go as wide as you want, but if you go wider thatn 8 you have to install a spacer but your wheels are going to stick out a lil bit, but to be safe just go with 16X7 or with a grand prix, you can put a 18x7, i work for an import shop before and we installed a 18 rim on a grand prix, and put 205/40-17, but with this you will feel all the stuff on the road becuase the tires are thin, but you feel the grip on the road.
