This technology does not need to dig the surface. Jack the pipeinto the earth through working well, which could also cross as a curve in orderto avoid some underground pipeline or obstacles.

Open TBM is mainly used in good rock conditions,without large fracture zone, faults and groundwater. It could play theadvantage while working with complete and steady surrounding rocks. Especiallywhile digging among the hard rock and mid-hard rocks, the great supporting systemoffers enough force to push the cutter, which helps the open TBM to observe theopened rock surface directly, so as to describe the geological condition ofopened tunnel conveniently.

Double(Single) shield TBM is applicable for geologicalcondition of mountain with various rocks. The rock field is with a certain ofstability, so that it does not need to balance the working surface. It is withthe characteristics of high digging speed and well-formed tunnel.  As for some good geological conditions, we don’tneed to assemble segments. We could use rocks as supports. Compared with thetraditional tunnel digging technology, the double( single ) shield TBM includesthe advantages of forming tunnel surface during one time, supporting andbuilding in the same time, constructing with safety and reliability, goodworking environment, less extra-digging amount, digging faster and costingless.
