- Q: Ok, the builder and an independent foundation company both say that no foundation damage happened, just some settlement. What should I do with these cracks on tiles and on walls. Would leaving them alone cause any problem? When and how should I fix those?
- If someone built your house and cracks have appeared then they should fix them.
- Q: we have about 500 sq feet of tile in our house and want to put carpet over it. the tile is not finished in the hallway tho, does that matter? and do you know an approximate cost for ripping the tile out? like $1,000+? $2,000+?thank you!
- Here's okorder /... Removing tile is a huge labor intensive messy job. I would also want to find alternatives. :-)
- Q: Some people say that only natural tiles have radiation. Cheap certainly not a natural stone, there will be no radiation, is that right?
- In fact, nothing is a little harm ah. The Said the stone has radiation, but in the end what harm, stone factory workers, selling stone businessmen are not jumping, did not see who said: I was radiation, and very serious
- Q: How does the tile stick up? The benefits of stickers? What is the difference between sticky and wet stickers? Do i want to be thin
- Dry paste only refers to the floor tiles, wall tiles are not posted, dry paste is the first layer of dry mortar, and then in the floor tile on a layer of cement paste, paste on the dry mortar, this paste the floor Brick deformation is small, wet paste is on the ground directly with cement mortar paste floor tile, this paste is easy to deformation. If you want to stick thin, use wet stickers.
- Q: What type, brand and or size ceiling tiles should be used in a commercial kitchen and bathroom
- yes it can be done, lots of people are doing that with copper tiles, it might not be a bad idea to coat it with poly or lacquer so it will be easy to clean, you can just nail them on and clear silicone and gaps
- Q: What is good for tiles?
- Brand is not recommended, but can help how to identify good or bad? The price is not good to say, but can distinguish what is good under the tile binder. Buy a pack of tiles dedicated adhesive open: 1: to see whether the powder is delicate, delicate products as well, easier to stick. 2: to see whether the color is uniform, even the product as well, more stable when the factory mixing. 3: add water for 5 minutes, wait and see paste paste material, see consistency, consistency as high as well. Indicating a higher bond strength. 4: construction performance, approved scraping on the back of the tile to see whether the smooth, smooth as well, better waterproof performance. 5: paving tiles after looking at the drying time of the tile binder, slow dry material is good, quick-drying is because the addition of cement plus, slow dry advantage is that the binder material can be fully hydrated with tiles Enough time to stick together, and not because of quick drying, water can not hydrate.
- Q: We are wanting to get rid of old wood floors. We are debating tile vs. concrete finished floors. Pro/cons? What about cost difference.
- Tile can cost from about $1 and sqaure foot plus, thinset and grout plus the cost to install it. If you do it yourself it's free of course if you hire someone then it can cost from about $2 a square foot on up. so, it depends on how manyh sqare feet you have. Concrete flooring looks okay. It has an industrial look. It cracks very often and costs around $3 a square foot according to a friend of mines estimate. I say go with tile. It's a lot easier to clean and more durable and lasts a lot longer.
- Q: The previous owner of my house did not correctly install tile in my bathroom. There is a thick grout line along the bathtub, and when I apply a good amount of pressure on a tile (full bodyweight), I can hear the grout grinding against the tub. I know the right thing to do is replace the tile but I have plenty of other home projects to do before we sell the house. Would it be acceptable to saw out the grout along the tub, refill it with new grout, then caulk? Would this at least fix the grinding noise I hear?
- I just found a bunch of videos on Youtube that has to do with that. It looked really easy.
- Q: I am thinking about tiling 2 bathrooms in a rental property and planning to use 12x12 tiles costing $1 each. I want to use the same tiles for bathtub surrounds as well as floor. I am looking for some advice about the size of tiles that may be appropriate. Thanks
- If the tiles fit the area then 12x12 are fine. I used 12 tiles for my bathroom remodel and it turned out fine. You need to figure out how much cutting is involved. Get graph paper and see how it looks. Mine fit fine since it was divisable by 12.
- Q: and if so, can I just put the tile on top of the sanded laminate counter top?
- Yes you can, but it will be easier and you will get a better result if you take the sink out, tile then put the sink back. As it is possible you will get a bit of flexing in the counter top so don't use ordinary tile adhesive. Use a good quality flexible tile adhesive or high strength construction adhesive so the tiles don't pop off if the counter flexes a bit. Leave the adhesive to set at least 24 hours before you put the sink back.
