- Q: I know most UC schools have multiple beds, but is there one that have beds stacked on top of each other?
- There are bunk beds in some dorms at Berkeley and UCLA. I do not know about the other campuses. Some freshman dorm rooms at Berkeley do not have bunk beds. They are mostly in dorms other than Units I, II, and III. I do not know about the other campuses.
- Q: box spring on bottom of bunk bed?I have a really comfortable full bed set but we are adopting children and the rooms would work out better if we got bunk beds so the two oldest could share the bedroom downstairs and not be woken by the baby during the night.We are looking at full/twin bunk beds. Could I use the full mattress and box springs on the bunk below? I wouldn't want to have to get rid of it and probably get something else less comfortable. The children are young, 5 and 6 so there wouldn't be a problem with not enough space between bunks for sitting up. For the top, we would get a bunk bed set up so as not to raise that bed any higher.
- I myself am looking into doing this. I have two full beds and want to turn them into a full bunk bed for my son. My husband is going to build the bunk bed set. So, I am going to measure everything to see if it will work. I agree with you, I don't want to throw out a nice bed and trade it for a mattress with no box springs. I don't know if your husband is handy, but I am thinking about having the bunk bed built so that the bottom is not a lot of room under the bed. That way the room can be used for the box springs. Under the bed always ends up being a mess anyway. Good luck :)

- You can use... aspen shavings- nice smell, absorbs well, non-toxic unlike cedar or pine paper beddings (carefresh, etc)- very absorbant, sometimes too dusty old clothing, sheets and towels - need to be laundered/changed weekly or more It is easier to maintain bedding if the rats are litter trained so you can just change the box rather than having to fuss with the bedding Never use pine or cedar. Hay and straw aren't good either, they'll resolt in lots of mold growth. If you have a paper shredder, you can process papers to be thrown away through there to make a cozy bedding. Avoid newspapers unless you know they use soy ink. Otherwise, the ink is toxic!

- Q: Does anybody have any ideas how to extend the height of a wooden bed, on the legs for example glue extra wood on base of legs??I have just brought a single bed and already have a pull out bed mattress to fit underneath.Its a tight squeeze in height and would be easier if the bed was another inch higher.Any ideas?Thanks.
- You can buy bed risers or bed lifts. You put them under the legs on your bed. You can probably buy them at Walmart. Google it.

- I have been dealing with these guys for a while, and have been very successfull in taking care of em'. Sorry my computer is having problems. First make sure you actually have Bed bugs and not something else. Hopefully you have a bed on feet. Use sticky pads under the feet. I cut them in half. before you do this check the bed throughly. Wash bedding. It can get complicated so I'm just gonna give you the basics. 1. sticky pads under the feet of the bed. 2. poison, Use sparingly if at all. 3. bed bug proof mattress covers. If you have the bugs they can be way up in (behind)the walls. Eggs in the carpet or mattress or box spring. Don't be tempted to spray poison everywhere it's not a guarantee and won't kill em' all. It could take a while but you'll get em if you check your bed offten maybe twice a week for a couple weeks. (then maybe every 5-7 days for ?? Don't ask!!!) Cover the mattress and box spring if you have a serious infestation. keep the sticky pads in place and use the poison wisely and carefully. I would emphasise you may not need the poison at all and it may be wise not to. I have used diatamatious Earth and have seen very poor results with it. Be diligent and you will see them go away. realize they can live for a long time hidden. but keep it up and you will get good results. It can be more complicated but you'll figure the process out after a while.
