Q: Last december I got a car which has been stored in a garage for about 5 years, but it's been taken out now and then to make it run a little. When I bought it the steering wheel was very wobbly, so I got some new tires. When I got the tires on the tire repairer told me the rims were pretty bent. So after a couple of months I got some new rims as well. After I got the new rims the steering wheel still was a very little bit wobbly sometimes. Of course I did a wheel alignment as well.I just had a job done which required a cv joint to be removed, and I went for a drive. The steering wheel again is very wobbly at about 100kph, and SOMETIMES it wobbles very badly when braking. I'll probably do another wheel alignment, but what am I looking for exactly? Are the wheel bearings gone?: Wheel bearing usually make a wooing sound but not much in the way of wheel shake. Have the new wheels been balanced? I assume they have, but worth checking as this can make the wheel vibrate at lot at higher speeds and is inexpensive to have done. Other than that, it might be a CV joint or suspension component, maybe a ball joint or even potentially warped brake discs or sticking brake callipers.
