2.Description
Aluminium is remarkable for the metal's low density and for its ability to resist corrosion due to the phenomenon of passivation. Structural components made from aluminium and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The most useful compounds of aluminium, at least on a weight basis, are the oxides and sulfates.
Despite its prevalence in the environment, no known form of life uses aluminium salts metabolically. In keeping with its pervasiveness, aluminium is well tolerated by plants and animals.Owing to their prevalence, potential beneficial (or otherwise) biological roles of aluminium compounds are of continuing interest.
3.Physical
Aluminium is a relatively soft, durable, lightweight, ductile and malleable metal with appearance ranging from silvery to dull gray, depending on the surface roughness. It is nonmagnetic and does not easily ignite. A fresh film of aluminium serves as a good reflector (approximately 92%) of visible light and an excellent reflector (as much as 98%) of medium and far infrared radiation. The yield strength of pure aluminium is 7–11 MPa, while aluminium alloys have yield strengths ranging from 200 MPa to 600 MPa.Aluminium has about one-third the density and stiffness of steel. It is easily machined, cast, drawn and extruded.

- Q: I need 53' aluminum containers at a cheap priceIt doesnt matter how damaged it is.
- Call Alcan Packaging at 773 399 8000 - they're on Bryn Mawr in Chicago (around Cumberland and Higgins)They supposedly sell new and usedAlso try scrap dealers, Victory, recycling plants and if still no luck, call some local aluminum service centers and ask if they have any or where you could find someThey need to transport the stuff so they should knowThe one off the top of my head is Petersen Aluminum in Elk Grove VillageGood luck.
- Q: We were told that moisture levels in our crawl space were 3% higher than usual, and were told to replace our vapor barrier among other thingsSince we have to seriously consider the $5000 investment this person told us, we thought of going with the most affordableFYI: It has been a very rainy season this year after 3 years of drought. So, where does one buy a vapor barrier? I've looked everywhere online and I can only see long explanations as to what it is but no information about where to buy oneAnd I wasn't looking for aluminum foil, plastic sheets, or kraft paperIs there a real thing?
- the vapor barrier is the poly that is on the floor of the crawl spaceIF you already have poly on the floor, what good will it do to replace itI wouldn't touch itThe most I would do is put an exhaust fan in the crawl spaceI lived in Indiana once and was astounded by the people that lived over puddles/lakes of water and you're worried about a measly 3 %In Indiana under our house it was always like after a rain storm, puddles of waterTry the fanI've installed fans under houses up here in Maryland for that very purpose.

- Q: Why do Cons claim we went to war in Iraq over chemical weapons instead of nuclear weapons?
- I'm not sure why, but maybe because they conveniently forget the truth, like Colin Powell's testimony at the UN about aluminum tubes, which he said were used as centrifuges for enriching uraniumThen there is the whole Valerie Plame/Joseph Wilson scandal about Wilson's trip to Niger to investigate Iraq's supposed purchase of yellow cake uraniumOf course the claims that Iraq had chemical weapons still were made at the same time, but to deny claims by team Bush that Iraq was engaged in nuclear weapons development is just BSChemical weapons are nasty, but nuclear weapons inspire much greater fear.
- Q: I don't have any muffin cups and i was wondering if you can shape a piece of tin foil into muffin baking cups? Also, is it ok to bake them in one cake together? Like all the cups together in a cake pan? Thanks.P.SAnyone have a recipe for delicious muffins that don't use too much sugar and maybe use apples? :)
- Use foil muffin cups, not paper and put them on a baking sheet and don't fill them very full? If you have a dollar tree they might even have a muffin tin for $1! I bet they do! If you are short on cash, it might be better to just make brownies or a cake instead of potentially messing up a batch of muffins that didnt have enough support? Happy V-day!
- Q: Will sanding 0.4 of the diameter of a seatpost make it dangerous?
- Even sanding off .2 mm is too much, and I speak from experienceI tried to sand down a 30.0mm post to fit a 29.8mm opening and the bugger snapped the very first ride after about ten miles of light XC ridingleaving me no seat the ride back on You do sound like you've already made up your mind though so go ahead and give it a shotjust keep in mind that when it does snap (and it will) you'll have a relatively jagged piece of 'thick' 6061 T-6 aluminium aimed right at your nutsGood luck with thatEdit- My opinion hasnt changedManufacturers use as little material as possible while still maintaining structural integrity but you seem to be convinced that you know better soDo what you want you want man, it's your nutsack and it isnt going to hurt any of us when it fails.
- Q: A package of aluminium foil contains 100ft^ of product and weighs approximately 1lbThe density of aluminum is 2.70g/cm(cubed)Find the approximate thickness of the foil in millimeters.
- hey, soot is simply carbon left over after something burns.carbon dosn't burn so it's left behind as soot
- Q: like using a electron dot diagram what are the most common ions formed for Lithium-LiAlAluminumPhosphors and Br bromine
- To answer this question make sure you have your periodic table handyAtoms generally want to have a full outer electron shell, so to use your example of Lithium, Li, this is in group 1 of the periodic table, meaning that is has 1 electron in the outer shellTherefore for lithium to get a complete outer shell it will either need to gain 7 electron, or lose 1, which is what happens, Lithium will lose 1 electron, hence it will become Li1+ If we went to the other end, e.gBromine which is in group 7, this means it has 7 electrons in the outer electron shellUsing the theory that atoms want a full outer shell it will either lose 7 electron, or gain 1, which again this is what happensBromine GAINS 1 electron, giving it a -1 chargetherefore it becomes Br 1-If a atom is in group 2, then it will lose two electrons, giving it a 2- charge and the reverse is also trueJust remember check what group it is in on the periodic table, think which outcome is more likely(Atoms like to get to a full outer shell), and if it gains electrons, then it will gain a minus charge, if it loses electrons it become positive.
