- Q: how much would you pay for a 2'x4' solar panel that puts out 24 volts and 74 watts?
- Build okorder /
- Q: Are there any fire risks associated with solar panels?
- Yes, there are fire risks associated with solar panels, although they are relatively rare. The main risk factors include faulty installation, damaged wiring, and electrical malfunctions. However, adherence to proper installation standards, regular maintenance, and the use of high-quality equipment significantly mitigate these risks.
- Q: What is the impact of tree shading on solar panels' efficiency?
- The impact of tree shading on solar panels' efficiency is negative as it reduces the amount of sunlight reaching the panels and therefore decreases their energy production.
- Q: Can solar panels be damaged by hail or other weather conditions?
- Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail or other severe weather conditions. Hailstones can cause cracks or dents on the surface of the panels, which can affect their efficiency or even render them inoperable. Other extreme weather conditions like high winds, heavy snow, or lightning strikes can also potentially cause damage to solar panels. However, it is important to note that modern solar panels are designed to withstand a certain level of weather-related stresses and are often tested for durability.
- Q: how to make a solar panel without buying any kit?Any things at home that can be used for solar panels(what are they?)procedures how to make a solar panel
- There are 2 kinds of solar cell/panel. Electrical and thermal. Passive thermal is the easiest. It can be made with clear glass bottles or jars. The bottles or jars must first be cleaned and sterilized to prevent the growth of algae or bacteria. Fill these about 90% full with water that has tsp of chlorine bleach per gallon. Put the caps or lids on tight. Seal with hot melt or other waterproof glue like RTV silicone. Arrange these in an array. You can use cement or just build a wood frame. Even simpler is just to put the bottles on a board or window sill. Place this in a sunny spot. The water will be heated by the solar radiation and will stay warm several hours after the sun is no longer shining on them. A an active thermal cell is different. For this you need a medium to heat. Silicon oil is often used but your could just use water. You need a collector, reservoir, heat sink, and circulating pump. These must be arranged in a manner so that the medium (water) is pumped to the collector where it is heated. It passes through the heat sink to transfer the heat and then returns to the reservoir. To make an electrical panel you can buy components. Photovoltaic cells and the components to mount them, wire them and then change the current generated into a type and voltage you can use.
- Q: What is the role of inverters in solar panel systems?
- The role of inverters in solar panel systems is to convert the direct current (DC) electricity generated by the solar panels into alternating current (AC) electricity that can be used to power household appliances and feed into the electrical grid.
- Q: Are the solar panels on the roof just a gimik to get all the tree huggers to buy it, or are they actually a good, efficent design?
- The solar panel option is for running a ventilation system while the Prius is parked outdoors, so the sun won't heat up the interior. Personally I think it's a good idea, especially if your car has leather seats-- There is nothing more unpleasant than getting into a car with leather seats that has been sitting in the sun for hours with the windows closed. Many a people in shorts have their thighs scalded on the leather seats that way. The solar panels are a luxury option, not standard equipment on the Prius. I think luxury cars like Mercedes and Cadillacs with leather interiors can use a system like that.
- Q: Can solar panels be damaged by hail or other flying debris?
- Yes, solar panels can be damaged by hail or other flying debris. While they are designed to withstand certain weather conditions, such as wind and rain, hailstorms or large debris impacts can cause physical damage to the panels and reduce their efficiency. It is important to install solar panels in a way that minimizes their exposure to potential hazards and to have insurance coverage for such incidents.
- Q: i am very much interested in making a solar panel, my problem is where i can acquire the main components in order to build it, i am staying here in abu dhabi UAE i'm always searching on the internet for shops that can provide me a DIY kit but i did not find one, i need somebody who knows where i can get these things, please let me know.

- Q: i wanted to buy solar panels but this guy told me one will just power one light bulb what i want to know is how much thay cost and is it true tat if more power leaves your house than goes in the power company has to send u a cheek
- Whether you get a check for excess power generation depends on where you live. Some places in Texas will do that, the largest 3 utilities in California will not. The bottom line is that you should not expect solar panels to be a moneymaker. They may or may not be a money saver in the long run, depending on your situation. Solar hot water can pay back in a few years, if it displaces an electric water heater, and if it's in a location that is generally warm. Solar electric usually takes longer to pay back, if ever. The best payback is for those who have expensive electricity already, and are also in a sunny area. As an example, our system cost $2k net, and saves us about $600 / year in electricity (i.e., all our usage). It will take 20 years to pay back the installation cost, but I admit we did it for more reasons than the financial.
