- Q: Can solar panels be installed on vehicles?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on vehicles. They are commonly used on electric cars, boats, and recreational vehicles to harness solar energy and help charge their batteries.
- Q: I am confused. I am planning to build a simple 2Watt solar system to power some lights in my house. . I wonder if it is possible to power up a 2Watt bulb using 2Watt solar power?2. Normally, when we are reading the power rating of a bulb, we will read the wattage, so what about the voltage and current rating?3. If the current is insufficient, will the bulb light up?I am having a solar panel that can output 2W power but I am not sure about the output voltage, how can I find out about the current? I am getting really confused.
- Unlikely - at least not a full brightness. You have to match voltages. If your panel is 2v at amp, it won't run a 20v bulb that runs at /0 amp. You're also going to lose power in the wiring and other components that means the 2w panel won't really deliver its full rating. And I'm also guessing that the 2w of the panel is only under full, bright sunlight, so any lessening of the light; clouds, haze, fog, dust, will lessen the power available.
- Q: This is the cenario. Your yearly energy use comes by mail and it states that the total amount of energy used your household is 7000kWh.Then you make the decision of switching to get solar panels. The question is what area should your solar panel be given that the average annual length of daylight is 2.0.
- It is not that simple. There are 3 main types of solar cells. Monocrystalline silicon is the most efficient and produces the smallest solar cells, and therefore the smallest panels. Poly-crystalline (or multi-crystalline) silicon produces the next most efficient type of cells and are a popular choice. Amorphous (or thin-film) silicon uses the least amount of silicon and also produces the least efficient solar cells. This means thin film system take up more area than the other two; an important factor to consider in relation to possible future upgrades; i.e. if you'll have enough space left to do so. The North (in the Southern hemisphere) or South (in the Northern hemisphere) facing roof collects the most energy. So this biases the roof area required. Your energy usage can be changed. Hot water (a major energy user) could be better using direct solar heating with peak demand boosting, either from mains or solar. There are other possibilities, either to reduce demand or to provide energy from other sources. Not all sunshine hours are equal. Hours around midday are far more productive than hours later in the day. This must be factored in.
- Q: If you were to be asked to write a material(s) report on either -solar panelsor -aircraft fuselageWhich would you choose?well i was asked to choose between these two,so i guess that if i choose what the majority wouldn't, i might just score a little bit higher, what do you think?if you are the lecturer you would want something different right?
- Aircraft fuselage. Right now solar panels are all the rage, and there's lots and lots of nonsense written about them. Aircraft design is old technology, but still quite fascinating. Learn about riveting and gluing techniques, the various aluminum alloys or plastics used, and compare the weight of an airplane fuselage with that of a building of comparable size.
- Q: Do solar panels require a backup generator?
- No, solar panels do not require a backup generator. They generate electricity from sunlight, so as long as there is sufficient sunlight, they can provide continuous power without the need for a backup generator.
- Q: I have a solar panel, charge regulator, inverter....is that all I need to tie it into my grid? Do I just plug the solar panel into the charge regulator into the inverter into any 0v outlet? I feel like im missing something....
- No don't do that unless you want a fire or worse electricution . DO NOT PLUG INTO THE WALL . st solar panel 2nd regulator 3rd 2 volt battery 4th inverter . The inverter should have 0 volt terminals that look like the plug on the wall . You would plug your TV or light into that the inverter . You would need an electrition to hook into your home electrical system . They will hook up a device made to tie into the grid or your meter that will make it run backwards but it takes alot of solar panels too do that . Please do not plug into wall .
- Q: I have an electric bicycle that I travel to work by, pulling a modified child carrying trailer that holds two 2 volt deep cycle batteries in series to power the 24 volt bike motor. I'm thinking about adding a 50 watt solar panel (or larger depending on the room I can make available) to charge while I'm at work and to provide some extra juice while on my more distant travels. Can I get a solar panel to charge them while they're connected the way they are: in series? Does charging work that way?I've read that in order to charge the 24 volt battery setup (if the answer to the Q above is yes), the output from my solar panel would need to be a little more than 24 volts. Is this true? If so, how many volts?Since the bike is supposed to be powered at 24 volts and I have an x-volt (x gt; 24v) solar panel connected to it, will this cause any damage to the controller or other components while running them? Will it help supply power even while the motor is being run? Thanks.
- A solar panel to charge a 2V battery has 36 cells in series. This allows for temperature of the panel up to 60°C, and the maximum required charge voltage. For a 24V battery, 2 panels in series. A 24V battery requires around 28-29V, but look up your battery data sheet to be certain. A specialized converter using electronics could charge a 24V battery with a 2V panel. The system voltage is controlled by the battery unless the battery is faulty. The 2 panels in series could be 42 volts no load, but the battery pulls this down to whatever is required by the battery. This is because the panels are a current source, the current is determined by illumination, and attempts to draw more result in reduced voltage. Even a short circuited panel delivers approx. the same current with no voltage. The battery voltage varies from around 20V (really flat) to around 28V (really charged). A 30W panel is around .75A, considering the optimum panel voltage for power is around 7V for 36 cells. This is small compared with what you are using. The battery wastes about 30% of the power, in chemical conversions. The time to charge it is 4h at the 0h rate, which is Ah/0. (i.e. ampere hours)
- Q: I'm making a model of a solar photovoltaic tower for a school project. I need a way to store energy, and we thought about using capacitors (mainly because of our somewhat limited funding). The tower will have a small photovoltaic panel (around the size of a laptop keyboard with number pad) and some (around 50) quot;heliostats(just the mirrors, no moving parts). What kind of capacitors should i use? and would a capacitor bank be better? i am getting confused with all those uF, pF and can't see the difference.Thanx in advance
- If you have a rechargeable AA battery (NiMH or NiCad) that might work. You're not going to get much power from that size array anyway, especially if it is not in full sunlight. A Farad (F) is ,000 times bigger than a milliFarad (mF), which is ,000 times bigger (stores ,000 times more) than a microfarad (mF). pF and nF are so tiny do not even look at them. With your size array voltage might not be a problem, but be sure to check that the voltage rating of the capacitor is less than whatever the array can make. Some people buy those solar yard lights, which seem to break often. You might be able to get some and use the contents for your project (pre-wired circuits).
- Q: Can solar panels be installed on a tennis court or sports complex?
- Yes, solar panels can be installed on a tennis court or sports complex. The large open spaces and flat rooftops typically found in these areas make them suitable for solar panel installation. This can help generate clean and renewable energy while also reducing the electricity costs of the facility.
- Q: So, assuming that a solar panel is flush with the ground (i.e. only the photovoltaic side is visible, the other sides are covered by dirt,) what would happen if it was run over by a car? How about an SUV? Would it break?Would the solar panel still generate electricity?
- Even running over one with a mountain bike will break the pannel. Now depending on how you run it over it might still produce power. If the circut is unbroken then what ever cells were not shattered and severed will work but most likely at a lesser capacity.
