Q:My teacher told me that light is electromagnetic radiation, so shouldnt light have weight then, because electromagnetic radiation all have an accelerating charge that cause them to exsist in vaccums. all charges have a weight no matter how small, (electrons, protons, alpha particles). i dunno im so confused, someone explain to me what causes light to travel at that speeds faster than mechanical waves, and their ability to travel in vaccums and not require matter to undergo a wave motion?: Light is pure energy it has no mass thus it has no weight. It does have momentum and kinetic energy. Here is the mass speech: Light has mass? Light particles (Photons) are pure energy and exist only when in motion. We can debate if photons have mass. Because of Einstein's E = Mc^2 matter and energy are 2 forms of the same thing. Since photons have energy it can be argued that they have Relativistic Mass.

Q:How is white light in diffraction different to white light shining into a prism to show colours?: White light shining into a prism shows colours because of dispersion or splitting of white light. In diffraction, light bends around the corners/edges of obstacles and the diffracted light interferes to form coloured bands.

Q:Can light spot move faster than light itself?: Sure, but that in no way means that any wave or particle exceeds the speed of light. Think of a point source of light at the center of a spherical shell. After it's turned on, the light reaches every point on the inside of the shell simultaneously. Is this infinite-speed motion? No. It's just an extreme version of the garden-hose example, in which the point of impact of the water stream moves much faster than the water particles do, giving the illusion of rapid motion of the water. But it's only our vision and brain that interpret it that way.

Q:Is this light suppose to stay on. Same question for Air bag light. This is also stays on. Neither light turns off.: ETS is your traction control system. If your airbag light stays on then there is a problem. Your car is trying to tell you that there is something malfunctioning with the airbag system. It will tell you more in your manual about that; if your airbag light remains on. It may be nothing, just a glitch or something like that. Take it to your local Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and they will do a free scan diagnostic to see what is wrong. Same for your ETS light. Mechanic will probably charge you for a scan though. Is your traction control system on? If it says TRAC OFF your system is off. Press the ETS button to ingage the TRAC system.

Q:If I put a black light in my over head light.. Will it light up my whole room?: Yeah usually the light will light up the room, but it is usually brighter the closer you are to the light... I mean it isn't like white light so while it'll hit those surfaces it'll basically be like its a night light.

Q:Is fluorescent lighting true lighting? I was told that it is false lighting and that it distorts color and image but then I was also told that It's true lighting and thats how objects really look to others. I have florescent lighting in my room but it looks a lot different to how I look in a mirror at school with fluorescent lighting. How can I tell what I really look like?Is how I look under fluorescent lighting how I look to other people? I look really funny under it..I also feel like its mostly just when I'm in a white room with fluorescent lighting that I look my worst.: Kayla, this is a good question. The answer actually is it depends. There are different kinds of fluorescent lights, and depending on the color temperature (yes, that's a real term) of the bulb, it changes the way objects look as seen under that light. Cool light has a bluish hue and is typically in the range of 5000k. Warm light has a yellowish hue and typically falls in the range of 2500 to 3500k, by comparison. The typical soft white household bulb tends to be in the 3000k range. The standard long fluorescent tube tends to be on the cold side, which commonly is perceived as being harsh and distorting. The lighting section at Home Depot by us has a display that shows the same. picture under different lights. By looking at this, you can get a good understanding of how the color temperature of a particular bulb affects the way things look. Although actual daylight is on the order of 6500k, that winds up looking very harsh in the context of a home. Cooler lights are brighter, so they are often used in institutional settings, but they are not the kind of warm friendly lights most people want in their homes. This accounts for your feeling that you look your worst under fluorescent lights in a white room - it gives an almost bluish cast to your skin; very harsh! Everybody looks awful under cold fluorescent lights, though some people probably look even worse depending on their natural skin color and clothing....but depending on the specific bulb that's in place, it'll change how everything looks.

Q:When using fog lights, do you keep your headlights on as well? Or can the fog lights only be used in conjunction with headlights? Sorry if this is a dumb question :(: I'm finding this quite amazing that so many people are getting the facts wrong. Fog lights must only be used on their own. Not with headlights, either in full or dipped. As a guide they should only be switched on when it is becoming difficult to see the car in front of you. Not, as I see often, when there is a slight mist. Other drivers find that when people use rear fog light quite blinding when they are switched on in good visibility. The main purpose of front fog lights is to stop the glare that headlights,even dipped, cause when fog is present. The current trend that some people think it's 'cool' to switch both sets of lights on is totally illegal. See Highway Code rule 226. (UK only)
