Q: I found an old Karavan flatbed utility trailer and am currently converting it into a snowmobile trailer (2 place). Me and a friend riped all the wire off of the trailer and completely rewired it. No matter how we configure it, the lights aren't coordinated. If we hit the left blinker in the car, all the lights flash(like the hazards are on). Right blinker works fine. we wired it first from the diagram on the karavan site. Now once we think about it, they have us wiring the ground into the light. so we searched the web and found this layout.
well first you didnt say what type of plug your going to use, looked at your website and everything looks good there. your next step should be to check the tow vehicle, just to be sure it is wired right
Q: Is high quality CAT-5 ok to wire surround sound speakers to the receiver?
Do not use cat5 wiring. Yes it will transmit the sound but the wires gage is too small. It is also solid core wiring. Solidcore wiring is not the best for speakers. Use a good quality oxygen free copper speaker cable around 16 gage up to 50 ft. If you have 100 watts/channel or more you should use a 14 gage wire. If you are over 150watts/channel use 12 gage. Remember the wire gets bigger as the gage goes lower.12 gage wire is thicker then 18 gage wire. I personally like the Moster XP brand of speaker cable. it is not that expensive. Sometimes moster cable can be overpriced but not so much in the case of this wire. It is very flexible and will layout nice on the floor. I have purchased wire in the past that was similarly priced and it was garbage. The 20% rule stated above is indeed whack as I would have been spending $2,400 on speaker cables. NOT GONNA HAPPEN. About a $1 to $2 per foot is resonable. You will get a more than adequate wire for that price. That is about what the Monster XP cable I use costs. But copper is expensive now so the cost may be higher.
Q: The wire from the pinball machine only has two wires. How do I rewire the machine with a grounded wire and plug?
Just go to your home cente or electric supply house, and get as long as you need of 16/3 SJO or SJTW cord and a grounded plug, and replace the cord there.
Q: I have installed a new wiring harness on my trailer, and two new LED trailer lights. The tail lights work, both turn signals work, but for some reason, I do not have a brake light on the right side. Both lights are grounded to their own post, and I do have a good ground on the coupler of the trailer. If a turn signal and brake light in a 4 wire system are using the same wire (green in this case)- how can one work, while the other is not? Any good ideas? I really appreciate the help.
all sound good, but try checking your fuses also. some veh. have a different fuse for each side, and trailer lights may be separate also.
Q: It every download on lime-wire basic free and is the down load of lime-wire basic free is lime wire really illegal thanks
lime wire is completely free. and yes, it is illegal. but i've heard that you could only get in trouble if you share the files you download. so make sure you set it up that you can't share files. i'm not positive that's true, but i do it anyways. if you're using lime wire though, you have to be careful you don't download viruses, there's alot of them.
Q: I am buying my sister Interior Underdash lights for her car, but it says it requires a quot;hard wire installationbecause it does not come with an on and off switch. What exactly does that mean? Will the lights turn on and off according to whether the car is on or off? Also, what is a hard wire installation?
Hard wire means it's not just plugged in. eg. using the cigarette lighter but instead is permanently wired in. All you need to do is wire the lights ground wire to any ground wire under the dash eg. ignition ground or radio ground ( wire will be black ) or directly to a screw that goes into any metal part of the chassis and wire the lights positive wire to either the accessory wire from your ignition (lights come on when car is on) or a constant power wire eg. radio power wire and wire in a toggle switch so you can turn the lights on or off at will.
Q: When wiring an aftermarket car stereo, do you always match color to like color? Also do you have to use every wire from the wire harness?
Assuming the head unit follows the standard color code (there are some cheap Chinese import units that don't) then you should match the head unit wire colors to the harness wire colors. There are a few extra rules, though: -If the harness has a blue wire, and the head unit only has blue/white (no blue), then the blue harness wire should be connected to the blue/white head unit wire. If the harness has a blue/white AND a blue wire, then both of them should be connected to the head unit's blue/white wire. Similarly, if the head unit has only a blue wire and no blue/white, then it should be connected to the blue and the blue/white wires in the harness. -Orange and orange/white can be treated as interchangeable; ie, an orange/white head unit wire can be connected to an orange harness wire, and vice-versa. (If the harness has both an orange and orange/white, though, don't combine them--just use one or the other with the head unit). -Some harnesses have a black/white wire; this can usually be combined with the black ground wire. -Brown and orange/black wires in harnesses should be taped off individually and not connected to anything. -Some harnesses don't have a black ground wire. In this case, the black wire from the head unit will need to be grounded somewhere else. There will usually be wires left over. Make sure each one is insulated so it can't cause a short or contact another wire.
Q: how to wire a receptacle with 6 wires?
Loosen the wire clamp screws located on the sides of the receptacle there are 2 kinds of clamp screws on a receptacle one set is silver and the other is brass colored.....Put the 2 Neutral (white) wires on the side where the Silver screw clamps are and tighten each one down....put the 2 Positive (black) wires on the side where the brass screw clamps are at and tighten each one down...That leaves you with 2 wires left.......You will need an extra 4 inch long piece of ground wire so use your spool and cut a 4 inch piece of green wire or bare copper wire, this is called a pig tail....you will need a green wire cap...take the 2 ground wires and the 4 inch pig tail and hold the ends together evenly and then screw on the green wire cap nice and tight....this leaves you with a single pig tail wire coming out the green wire cap, this wire is then connected to the small ground screw on the receptacle....then gently fold wires and place everything into the outlet box nice and neat....
Q: What happens when you hook these 2 wires up right along each other?
if you have an rca tv which works with 12 volts.......if the wires not connected to battery...there no problem. if connected to battery....the fuse blows.(close to battery on wire)....if there is no fuse....wires burn...risk of fire....do not forget...every device works with car battery MUST and MUST be eouipped fuse .
Q: How much would it cost to replace the 4 gauge wire i have in my car now with 0 gauge wire?
When it comes to kits you do not want to go cheap. lesser names have a interesting way to measure wire, some of the smallest 0 ga. i ever seen. i attached a link to a place i personally use, and they have great cable, actually measures slightly higher than the electrical standard (i forget the standard name) any way the kit is $60. kit includes power wire, fuse holder, fuse, ground wire some connections wire ties, and split loom.
