Q:I am currently removing old cork tiles from the floor of my house. They are stuck down to the cement and as I‘m chiselling them up I‘m being left with a lot of glue residue with fragments of the cork too. Any tips on easy removal of the old tiles, but more importantly removing the glue? We are replacing them with new ceramic floor tiles. I was thinking maybe a heat gun and a scraper to clean it up but Dad has suggested a grinder! Any experiences with fast and easy removal of residue? I‘ve still got a room of cork to remove so if there‘s a better way than hammer and chisel I‘d love to hear about it!
well i know this was very stupid of me but it worked i took pait revomer and just poored it all over the place and it sunk into the cork and then it was much easier to get get up with a chisell it worked! i was so fuserated that i was up to trying ANYTHING. or do it the right way...... Most cork tiled surfaces are used for flooring. Cover furniture and fittings before starting. Look for a loose tile, or a tile in a central position. Lever the tile carefully using a scraper. This should now give access to the surface under the tiling. Gently push the scraper under each tile and remove one by one. The tiles will probably break as they are removed, but it is still advisable to work on the removal of individual tiles across the room. Once removed, the surface will still be covered with the cork tile adhesive. This is more difficult to remove. It is advisable to use a hot air stripper and scraper to remove the adhesive.
Q:There was actually only a tub there and no shower, so the walls are all plaster. I know that before I tile I need a different backerboard, meaning the plaster goes at least to a point. Any hints, tips, directions, and suggestions on how to do the job?

Q:China's top ten ceramic tile brand ranking?
1 De Gao DAVCO 2 · Marble MAPEI 3 · Nippon 4 Sai Lite CERESIT 5. Bose glue Bostik BASF BASF 7. Oliya OLY 8. Rainbow YUHONG 9. more
Q:looikng to get a large hall way and medium kitchen floor done been quoted 1100 with fitting for a good quality laminate tile effect would actual tiles be much more or maybe even less due to the undlay needed with a laminate?
Actual tile will be more expensive, you can save money because tile is a total do it yourself project. As long as you dont have any crazy angles to figure out and cut you can do it yourself, just take your time. If your not handy it will cost more, but you will increase the value of your house so you should come out ahead when you sell the house.
Q:why is waterproofing done before grouting?why do we need to let the mortar/adhesive dry before grouting?
You should use special green board for the shower. It is water resistant not water proof. This gives the best base for the tiles. You should leave the adhesive set up totally before grouting because the gases that are in the glue need a place to go. This includes thin set mortar because of the water vapor it out gases. Good luck
Q:I am tiling my kitchen and My house was a prefab. and OLD. The plywood used was 1/2 (I measured it). what thickness of backboard/cement board should I use for under the tile and on top of the plywood? I was thinking 1/2 backerboard/cement board so there is 1 of subfloor under the tile. Do you think this is enough? Also, I am tiling around my cabinets, what do I do about the dishwasher? Do I tile around it? If I tile under it, it won‘t fit in the spot then. I was going to tile around it... I do have room to tile under the fridge though. There is space above.

Q:Is polished tiles and tiles a thing?
Is a kind of tiles, maintenance is the construction process of the need for water maintenance, after the shop to protect the next nothing else
Q:Does anyone know where I can find a blue and white checkered floor tile for my bathroom? Some places carry the black/white but nothing else. I‘m looking for the smaller sized stuff that‘s attached to the roping behind it that i can lay down easier, but if it‘s a checker pattern on a full tile that‘s fine too. Any leads appreciated!
I have large white porcelain tiles with little blue diamond tiles joining the corners. I could not find these at any showroom. Decide what you want and what shade of blue. Go to a professional tile showroom and ask the manager to ask his distributors for advice. You may not find a roped sheet of tile, but you may find small tiles in colors you like that will work. A skilled tiler can put them down with spacers. My white tiles came with clipped corners and the blue diamonds fit perfect. The little tiles came in several shades of blue.
Q:Yesterday I bought tile from menards and they are sticky on the backs of them, my question is do I need to use other glue as well? If so what kind of glue?
Peal and stick tile need no other type of glue. If fact , another glue may react to the glue on the tile. These work best when installed on new clean ply wood surface. A surface that hasn t been sealed by other glues or other substances. Best to use a heavy roller to help embed the glue on the back of the tile into the new surface.
