- Q: I got a new tripod for my camera recently and would like to convert my old one into something resembling a nightstand or tv tray; I was thinking of using a board or flat surface with a nut or something similar attached to the bottom that would be the right thread size to screw onto the tripod. The idea would be to have a platform/tabletop surface that could have its height easily adjusted up and down; I know they make things like these, but I'd rather not pay $85.00 for a 15 inch piece of plastic that's ready-made to screw on to tripods (like this: http://amzn.to/9k4i2N) or $150.00+ for an adjustable end table (like this: http://amzn.to/a6UExN) when I can probably make something very similar myself for less than 5 bucks with the right equipment. problem is, I'm not very handy with this type of stuff and don't really know how to go about attaching a threaded hole to a board or what type of threaded hole I should even be looking for. I figure it can't be that hard, though. Any help?
- I've made specialty 'adapters' for several tripods to correct lens focal length (in virtual tour productions), by making a slim molding from wood, that mimics the profile of the camera 'wedge' that locks down on the tripod. The wedge can be screwed into whatever 'shelf' material you want from there. That top is then removable, but still fairly secure, provided you don't overload it. Mine was easy with the table saw (for the angles), but perhaps you could make one with a hand saw? Good luck.
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for cutting boards?
- Plastic sheets can be used as a substitute for cutting boards, as long as they are made from food-safe materials and are thick enough to withstand sharp knives without being easily scratched or damaged.
- Q: I want to try making my own soccer cleats from scratch. im trying to find a material to use for the bottom / sole plate of the cleat.
- Sorry but they will crush under weight. They do break easily. You can cut them using a hacksaw.
- Q: Are plastic sheets waterproof?
- Yes, plastic sheets are waterproof. They are made from materials that repel water and prevent it from passing through.
- Q: Are plastic sheets resistant to staining from cleaning agents?
- Yes, plastic sheets are generally resistant to staining from cleaning agents.
- Q: I admit I haven’t seen these in years and I'm not sure I’m even using the right term. The only slide shows I’ve seen or made in the past 7 years were Power Point ones. But several years ago I remember these clear plastic sheets that could be printed on with my simple, cheap, disposable printer (a Lexmark that came free with my PC).I have a little 3 in 1 Inkjet (Epson Stylus CX4800) and I want to be able to print on thin sheets of plastic. QUESTIONSDo they still sell those sheets? What are they called?Who sells them?Do you think they would work in an Inkjet or would I need to find someone with a Laser or other type of printer? Thanks
- Overhead transparencies - You can purchase them in write-on, inkjet printer compatible, and laser printer compatible. Your local office supply probably has them in stock. Be sure you get the ones specified for inkjet printers. They have a special coating that will absorb the ink. You can also check places like Avery and Staples online and find them. Good luck with your print job!
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for electrical insulation in high voltage applications?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for electrical insulation in high voltage applications. Plastic materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and PVC have excellent insulating properties and are commonly used for insulation in high voltage systems. These materials have high dielectric strength and can withstand the stresses and voltages associated with high voltage applications, providing a reliable and cost-effective insulation solution.
- Q: I read this article on eHow about a DIY breeder box, but I can't find any acrylic sheets. Would hard plastic sheets suffice?
- home depot sells it and cuts it for you..so does lowes and maybe michaels/hobby lobby
- Q: Can plastic sheets be used for hydroponics?
- Yes, plastic sheets can be used for hydroponics. Plastic sheets are commonly used as a material to create grow trays or channels for hydroponic systems. They help provide a waterproof and nutrient-resistant surface for plants to grow on, ensuring efficient water and nutrient distribution.
- Q: How do plastic sheets compare to PETG sheets?
- Plastic sheets and PETG sheets have some similarities, as they are both made from plastic materials. However, PETG sheets are generally considered to be superior in terms of durability, clarity, and impact resistance compared to regular plastic sheets. PETG sheets are also more resistant to chemicals and have better heat resistance, making them suitable for a wider range of applications.
