Q: My husband bought me the 14th limited edition Better Homes and Gardens book... and I've had alot of recipes not taste great. I have to alter them alot and then they're okay (FYI- I cook great, it's not me, its the recipes). Also I've found alot of errors with the index and page numbers. I was just wondering if Betty Crocker makes a better cookbook and if there's a better variety. I know the BHG is huge, but it really doesn't seem like there's a lot of desserts or cookies, and I LOVE cooking.Let me know what you think, and if you can recommend a specific book that would be great too!: Some of the recipes are more difficult on the food network site, but each recipe has a difficulty rating so you can bypass those you know you don't want to tackle. When I make something, I want it to be flavorful and people going back for seconds.

Q: my neighbours on both side of me are complaining about my 2 cats going in there gardens and fouling! they have gone into the pots with plants in and scrapped the soil all over, peed on plants and generally making a nuisance of themselves!... im at my wits end with this problem, i dont think its fair to keep them indoors all the time! anyone got any advice on anything i could buy my neighbours for them to put in there gardens to detter them would be well accepted?: Wire netting, broken eggshells or holly leaves on bare earth will keep cats away from the bare soil in flower beds because it will be too uncomfortable underfoot for them to want to walk there. Even cocktail or lollipop sticks placed in the soil at regular intervals will also deter the cats for the same reason. Perhaps a gift voucher for a local gardening store might help placate the neighbours a little? Most cats find it hard to resist the temptation of freshly dug soil, but if you haven't provided your cats with a litter tray, perhaps it would be a good idea to do so as that could help.

Q: If you were a family looking for a ranch home, and there were about 2500 sq feet up and another 2500 sq feet of renovated heated space below in the basement, and there was a full kitchen above and below, with a big garden in the front of house and back, would you feel it would be too much area to clean and maintain, taking into consideration that the basement would not be suitable for renting out, as the door leading out of the basement does not have a driveway, since one has to walk over the garden to reach the garage on the main level. The main level is additionally, connected to the basement by means of steps going down within the house into the basement. I feel one would out of necessity need to built a driveway to the basement door in order to be able to sell it with rental potential, as otherwise the area might be too big, in addition to two kitchens being too much to maintain for one family......Any suggestions or tips or ideas?: I bet you could sell it to an older couple who had a son or daughter who really needed a break like having a basement to move into so he or she could go to school or because his or her job doesn't allow living independently, especially if there were grandchildren. Then there's all the garden services franchises. They're relatively cheap to start up in. the business degree doesn't help, exactly, but it sure doesn't hurt.
