- Q: Moved into a house where prior owner used glazed porcelain tile. Job unfinished but a little tile left behind. Not enough! Can anyone help me find GEO CERAMICHE Natura Sable BL 12x12 (or larger, I can cut it down). Have looked online to no avail (yet). Neighbors tell me the tile was bought at least 4 years ago but not later. Can anyone help me find 5 pieces of this tile?
- Find where the tile was bought 1st.. Many big box stores will private label name brand tiles ( and many products) so you can t cross shop them..After 4 years I won t give you much of a chance to find them ..sorry... Styles change along w/ technology and they switch things to change w/ the times. It may be still available but chances are slim..Is it in a place that some sort of mosaic can be used as a decoration? Or maybe a good rug? Start w/ the big box stores but don t waste to much gas chances are slim .. I wish you luck ..
- Q: What is transparent tiles
- (The market also known as tiles, polished tiles, etc.) is the rock debris by pressing high pressure, the surface after grinding hardness compared with the stone, water absorption is lower, good wear resistance. The surface of the whole body is not glazed, and the front and the back of the material and color consistent, hence the name. Although there are seepage of the whole body bricks and other varieties, but relatively speaking, its color than glazed tiles. Most of the anti-skid brick are all bricks. - Q: I‘m going to be putting in a tile floor in my kitchen (all cabinets and appliances removed). I have done my research and have a good idea of what I will be doing - beef up the subfloor with plywood and lots of screws for rigidity; use cement based self leveler to correct a mild slope; install backerboard or decoupling membrane (not sure which yet) followed by the tile.I have a plan, but plans tend to fall apart after their first run-in with reality. Has anyone run into types of problems they don‘t talk about on DIY network? The types of problems complete the following kinds of sentences: are you f***ing kidding me? You have to do ____ before ___? or dammit, why don‘t they tell you you need [insert name of specialized gadget] on a product that cures in 10 minutes? or boy was I an idiot for doing/not doing [insert critically important but not obvious tiling procedure here].?Much obliged, and thanks for the responses.
- Before okorder /. You'll find video tips about tile installation as well as lots of useful information especially if you're installing kitchen glass tiles. Good luck!
- Q: I have tiles in my house. The whole 1st story is tile. Their porcelain. My chihuahua stays downstairs all the time and I was wondering does the tile have any affect on her? The tiles get really cold.
- lol.. all i can think of is the chikety chickety their little nails make on the tile.. so cute you might consider some area rugs or some runners in the halls just so they don't get cold feet.. but really it shouldn't be too much of a problem if you keep the house warm. Consider... if your feet don't get bothered by the tile then chances are neither does theirs
- Q: I want to remove all the white tiles in my kitchen as some are broken, others don‘t match up and basicially who ever tiled it initially may have been intoxicated, some have come off easy, but others are stuck on tight, tried using a chisel hammer to smash them, but they would splinter and smash like glass, does anyone know a easier less messier way i can do this?
- If you have a broken tile you obviously don’t need to worry about saving it. You may be able to pry it off the wall by sliding the putty knife under the tile at a very low angle (almost parallel to the surrounding tiles), then moving the knife around to break the tile away from the glue or mastic holding it on. Depending on how loose the tile is you may be able to remove it by simply sliding your putty knife under the tile and prying up gently. If the tile won't come off you'll need to get rid of the surrounding grout
- Q: The previous owner of my house did not correctly install tile in my bathroom. There is a thick grout line along the bathtub, and when I apply a good amount of pressure on a tile (full bodyweight), I can hear the grout grinding against the tub. I know the right thing to do is replace the tile but I have plenty of other home projects to do before we sell the house. Would it be acceptable to saw out the grout along the tub, refill it with new grout, then caulk? Would this at least fix the grinding noise I hear?
- I just found a bunch of videos on Youtube that has to do with that. It looked really easy.
- Q: i have vinyl tile in my dinning room(high traffic) its new but its not brillant ,and i saw a mantenance guy last night in wallmart using a buffer machine to pollish the tile..my question what kind of pad the used?they use any quimical with this pad?..how often this treatment its needed?
- With Vinyl tile, you can go to home depot or menards and buy a floor finish specifically for the tile. It'll be like mop and glo only more permenant. It goes on with a sponge mop or an actual floor refinishing pad or I find that the applicators they sell for painting walls that have a replacable sponge and a plastic handle work the best. Just make sure your floor is very clean and dry. Apply in one direction, overlapping each pass. If you see lines, then you could buff it out. You can apply it as often as once every year or just as needed. Just make sure to read the label on the back because sometimes you have to strip off the old finish to put on a new. It depends on the product, though. They also make a product called renewal that can go over any old finish. You could check into that too.
- Q: I am completely re-doing one of the bathrooms in my home and I would like to put in a stand alone tile shower. Can someone tell me what the best material to use for it would be? Ceramic, porcelin, slate, travertine, marble?? Are any better for walls/floors/wet areas than others?
- The tile isn't as important as what the tiles are mounted to. Make sure you use material specific for wet areas. as for which one to use, it would depend on which one you like, and can afford. I like the looks of bigger tiles, but would much rather install smaller tiles. Bigger tiles can be a pain when it comes to making difficult cuts.
- Q: I want to install a towel hook in my bathroom, but it is all ceramic tile, including the walls. Adhesive doesn‘t work. Is there any way to put screws in the tile with out cracking the tiles? Thanks.
- Silicone caulk will adhere tenaciously to ceramic tile. If you are trying to attach metal to ceramic, you could also drill through the tile with a carbide drill and use conventional anchors. I have use both methods but prefer the former if possible.
- Q: I just finished my bathroom but when i used the oil based kilz there was a little spray back that landed on the tile floor.
- Depending on the type of tile you might be able to use a sharp knife (exacto or paring knife) and gently remove the spots. If you have any kind of ceramic tile that would work (in my experience) except perhaps on the grouted areas. If you have grout and the Kilz is in/on the grout you might have to actually scrape some of the grout off and then reseal the grout. Good luck. It's laborious work but it should work. If you have linoleum tile I wouldn't do that because it might remove the finish. The next time you go to the paint dept. at the store ask them how to do it if you haven't solved the problem
