- Q:Trying to clean my kitchen's Ceramic tiles . Does any one know a good way to clean stain from Ceramic tiles and how to prevent it in future.
- Water and vinegar. Hi I'm Nick the Tile Man Check out my web site for free informative ads. You can purchase and tile cleaner and sealer but buy the good one not a cheaper one that last a few months.
- Q:I‘m tiling a bathroom counter and have all my supplies but not sure I purchased the right trowel. I purchased a square-notched trowel 1/4x1/4x1/4. What is the difference between this one and the one I see commonly used on tv and on other tiling jobs...the razor tooth edge type?
- I tile every day of my life, and I want to assume these Stone Tiles are at least Milled flat on one side, though if they are RAW, not production glazed, I wouldn't be using them on a counter top. I also don't always use 1/4 inch mortar beads on counter tops, often choosing 1/8, (In the same Tool you purchased). Floor tiles yes, always. That's just a personal choice and not a Law set in stone (no pun intended). You have the correct tool for Thinset. The saw edge applicators, are usually used for mastics/Adhesive tile setting materials, which are also, often used for counter tops, Not very practical for tile or stone. Steven Wolf just my two sense
- Q:I installed tile couple of days ago in my shower. I was wondering isn't it better to put bathroom caulking instead of grout since it is flexible and it will last longer and provide better water resistance. Does grout make tile stronger or is caulking only applied on edges? Would I make mistake if I used bathroom caulking between tiles? Thanks
- Grout is a hard material that stablizes the tile and is more appropriate when the tiles are going to be walked on, sat on or worked on (as in a counter) Caulk is a soft material that water seals cracks and has little or no wear endurance. In theory, you use grout on shower to make it match the appearance of tiles elsewhere in the room, but these days, that is often the only place tiles are used.
- Q:is there another way to cut tiles ?i dont have a tile cutter , thanks
- Your best bet then is to do the measurements yourself and go to a store (even homedepo or Lowes) and have them cut it. They will most likely cut it with some type of wet saw, keeps the edges from chipping.
- Q:We will be tiling a backsplash directly onto drywall after our countertops are installed. My question is -- what do I do about the electrical outlets in that area? The tile is about 1/4 inch thick -- and I want the outlets even with the tile (right?) After I tile around the outlet openings, then how do you make them flush when you put everything back together? For example, do I just pull the sockets out so that the screw brackets sit on top of the tile? If so, then do I need to drill screw holes through the tile? If so, then how do I make sure that the tile does not break or crack?
- Normally, you have 1/4 of extra thread on the outlet screw to play with. If the screw isn't long enough ask someone at your local hardware store for a longer screw. DON'T use drywall screws because they will strip the threads on your electrical box. So yes, pull the sockets out and let the screw brackets sit on the tile.
- Q:We just had tile intalled in our home. What products do you use (or recommend) to clean tile? On a regular basis? Spill/Accident basis? Also, can anyone recommend a good cordless sweeper (for tile of course)?
- things you’ll favor: Oxygen bleach Water Knee help Step a million: be particular you positioned an overhead fan on if once you're cleansing your ceramic tiles. if you're cleansing in any tiny elements, that is critical to go away the door open. Fumes can make you ill if you're making use of excellent chemical compounds. Step 2: Get some thing delicate for once you're kneeling. you'd be doing a tremendous variety of kneeling and scrubbing in the course of the cleansing. Step 3: purchase oxygen bleach for cleansing the tiles. The powder is non-poisonous. Oxygen bleach can help sparkling your grout and make your flooring sparkle. Step 4: blend the bleach with some water. enable the bleach to sit down down on the floor for 30-60 minutes. practice a number of this blend to the elements of the floor you want to sparkling. you may also use this bleach on counter tops. Step 5: Scrub the grout in a mild way till it turns into spotless. you should use a tooth brush or another variety of brush to scrub the grout. Step 6: Rinse your floor with water to sparkling any residue from the oxygen bleach. Use towels to shine your floor and delivers it sparkle.
- Q:ok, i tiled my kitchen with the sticky tiles (not expensive ceramic ones or anything like that) then sealed it with a clear tube of sealant. it is about 3 or 4 days later, and the floor looks like crap. the sealer left behind a nasty tar trail or something. While the tile looks glossy and beautiful the places i sealed are dull and def noticable. How do I get rid of the excess???? I've tried scraping, it just don't work. help me!!!!
- first off, not all ceramic tiles are expensive :) second, rubbing alcohol and a little elbow grease ought to get off the excess sealant. if that doesn't work, try nail polish remover, wd-40, goof off, or mineral spirits. use cotton balls, or white paper towels/t-shirts/washcloths, etc. in the future, the stick-on tiles don't need a special sealant. just stick and it's done. good luck!
- Q:We have a big problem with our tiles in our bathroom, they wont stick. We have painted the floor with the pva. used (waterproof athesive) don‘t know if thats the correct name for it. my boyfriend has let his dad do the tiling as he knows how to do it. i told him to get a profesionals. but he wants he‘s dad. so now we have been having this problem. if any one knows what should we do or use different glue or something, that would really help., thanx
- The water proofing is stopping the adhesion of the tiles. The tiles have a latex adhesive and will not penetrate the water proof paint that you applied. You may have to use a very course sand paper to score the water proof paint and dig it up enough the and adhesive on tiles has something to hold on to. I'm a builder 30 years.
- Q:We have a two sink bathroom set up would like to replace the counter-top with a homemade tile counter-top - we are pretty handy but have not dealt with tile before - and before I ask my dad for help I thought why not check out yahoo answers. Thanks! :)
- Pic tile first. Some offer bull nose for edge some don't. Figure out design, edges, corners, splash gard, sq. ft. etc. before purchase. Buy 10% extra for cutting waste. Pic a tile separator width and grout to match tile. Be sure to use a tile trowel it will hell in thickness of quickset when placing tiles. GL
- Q:How does the concrete on the tiles clean?
- Do not forget to protect your hands with rubber gloves when scrubbing with diluted oxalic acid. First with a brush in a place where there is cement, 3-5 minutes after a rub with a dry cloth off
