Q: does any one know where to find any harvest gold bathroom tiles?? it was a color that was big in the 70‘s but it is almost impossible to find it now in stores..does anyone know of any stores or webites that sell them please let me know i need them for replacements
At one time there were a few reclamation stores that bought and sold old discontinued tile lots , but they didn t do well..You may now have to use a complementing color or just a white to replace .. If you have any tile at all I can help you tell what type and whos tile it was to get replacements to fit, since there are a couple of different sizes in the 4x4 tile ( which is what I assume you have to replace). Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar and check my qualifications there.. GL
Q: My parents want to re-tile their bathroom. My dad says he can use regular tiles in the bathroom, bathroom being the floor and the open-shower walls(the only thing stopping the water spillage is plastic and fabric on a rail), but my mom says it needs bathroom tiles and bathroom grout for the job. Any help would definitely be appreciated!!!
We put ceramic tile and grout in our bathrooms and kitchen. Never heard of bathroom tiles. The kids get the whole bathroom wet when they bathe and we haven't had any problems with it in over 10 years.
Q: Ok so our bathroom is old and crappy and the faucet in the shower always come off. I was taking a shower and when i went to put back the body wash it fell and must have landed on the faucet and the faucet came off and two tiles along with it. The tiles are broken into little pieces. My mom is gonna be mad but it wasn‘t even my fault im so scared =(
confirm to word it wisely once you tell your mom: the faucet fell and pulled off 2 tiles. whether you dropped the physique wash on the faucet (and you're not sure which you probably did; each and every from time to time the faucet merely comes off), you probably did no longer do something incorrect. It grew to become into an twist of destiny, and completely commonplace considering physique wash is meant to make your hands slippery! for sure it is going to fall often times--that's why it relatively is in a plastic bottle. it relatively is obtrusive the faucet and tiles want paintings. no person has executed something approximately it so some distance, the two considering you're all procrastinating, or because of the fact it relatively is a apartment residing house and no-one desires to take a place funds in maintenance. there is an old asserting that a stitch in time, saves 9. In different words, whilst some thing desires fixing, the longer you wait, the bigger and worse the interest will become. in case you hire your place, your mom ought to record the difficulty to the owner and ask to have it fastened.
Q: Or must I use Duraroc board or a similar item. Also can I use a ceramic wall tile on the floor ? I know they are of different thicknesses but would the wall tile hold up on a floor? Thanks for all the help.
You can tile over sheetrock, but if it is painted with a paint with gloss, you need to sand the wall to remove the gloss first. If the tile is above the tub where it will be wet on a regular basis, you should replace the sheetrock with Durarock or hardibacker. Wall tile can be used on the floor, but should be installed over durarock or hardibacker. In addition the sub-floor and underlayment should be at least 1 1/4 thick if the floor joists are on 16 centers, thicker if the span is wider. The biggest concern with wall tile is that it is usually glossy and slick, which means it will be extremely slick to the point of being hazardous, especially wet.

Q: and didn‘t seal the floor or grout. Now they are dirty, how can I clean them so they look new, then seal it? I have grout sealer, do I need to seal the tiles also, they look to be sort of porous?
At Home Depot, there is a grout cleaner, you apply and wipe off. We used stain resistant frout for this reason when we did our bathroom but the cleaner does work well. When you seal it, make sure to apply lots of sealant and it wipes off the tiles themselves. You do not need to seal the tile, they should be fine.
Q: Small size tiles for external walls
Small tiles generally include 100mm * 100mm and 150mm * 150mm two or so, more than 200mm should not call a small tile, unless the individual himself.
Q: Hi, I am thinking about placing vinyl wood planks over the existing ceramic tile in my house and I wanted to know if it‘s possible. The tile isn‘t completely level due to the grout and obviously not all the tiles are exactly the same height down to the millimeter. I wanted to know 1. Is it possible to install vinyl wood plank over ceramic tile, 2. If so how level the tile floor has to be, 3. How would I go about leveling the floor, with an underlayment or with some sort of mortar, 4. If I use an underlayment do I still need to use the mortar to level the tile?Thank you.
I would not lay vinyl over ceramic tile, especially if the tile isn't even. It will wear the tile out faster, and the tile won't look good over any surface that is not level. Remove the tile, then lay down some 1/2 underlayment plywood--or once the tile is removed, (and all the grout) and the floor is revealed, you may be able to lay the vinyl down over what's underneath. You can't put underlayment over the tile either because it has to be nailed down, and that extra layer will add nearly an inch to your floor--making any transition to other rooms uneven.
Q: Suggestions and stories needed. We have 3 kids, 2 dogs (inside). I am on the fence. We bought stuff for doing the tile but now I am thinking laminate.
Both are good choices. Tile is more durable but its cold in the winter and harder on the feet. Laminate has a warmer feel and the pad gives it a little bit softer feel. Plus glass objects don't always break when you dop them on it. But it can be damaged a lot easier than tile. I am not saying its easily damaged, by no means, its very durable and will with stand 3 kids and 2 dogs. Laminate is also not recommended in high moister areas. As far as maintaining the floors, Laminate is easier just wipe it up a few times a month and your good to go. Tile needs the grout to be sealed and needs to be scrubbed when t gets real dirty.
Q: There are thousands of individual tiles. If one falls off or something like that does everything burn up? thanks and how did the heat shield not work for the shuttle in 2003? it might have been in 2001 i have to ask my science teacher
Depends on where that tile falls off or is otherwise compromised. The black tiles take the most heat and would certainly be the ones to be concerned about. The white tiles less are used where the heat produced by the reentry process is less, so a missing tile there, would pose less of a problem.
