Organic solvent method of solubility and dissolution:
EC can be dissolved in various organic solvents, such as fatty acid (ethanol, isopropyl alcohol), other alcohols, ketones, aromatic and so on. Common solvent (volume ratio):
1
Toluene Ethanol = 4:1
2
Ethanol
3
Acetone Isopropanol = 65:35
4
Toluene Isopropanol = 4:1
5
Methyl Acetate Methanol = 85:15
Alcohols and aromatics in the viscosity of the mixture, going down with alcohol content higher, when alcohol accounts for 30-35%, the lowest viscosity of the composition. Dissolution method: the EC under the stirring slowly add the container filled with a solvent until complete wetting dissolved.

Q: i went on the web site of microlon an it say this stuff last a life time no need to keep adding only once an your engine is protected for life is this stuff for real an it cost 99.99 for a 32 once can witch treat an 4,6,8 cylinder engine
Most people don't seem to know that modern engine oil has many oil additives already: (1) friction modifier (2) viscosity stabilizer (3) anti - foam (4) etc. And if you are not careful, the factory additive will negatively react with your after market additive. Some of these additive were important long time ago, but now modern oils is are complex cocktail of petroleum products. In general it is more important to get frequent and timely oil change than to use these additives. There are 4 most important maintenance items in your engine (1) engine oil (3k - 5K miles) (2) tranny oil (30K miles) (3) coolant (3 years) (4) timing belt (60K miles) Just keep those maintenance and your engine and tranny will be problem free. I have a 94 Civic with 187K miles and the engine + tranny + suspension runs like new. I get 41 MPG (doing 72 MPH). I can get even better MPG doing 55. Good maintenance pays off. good Luck.
Q: what is the best fuel additive that will increase my gas mileage?
Use good quality gasoline (I prefer Shell or BP). I also occasionally use Chevron Techron Fuel Injector Cleaner about every 10-15,000 miles. Other than that the best thing you can do is maintain your car overall and change your driving habits as others have mentioned. Keep the correct tire pressure, change your air filter regularly, buy quality gasoline and drive in a reasonable manner and that will get you the best gas mileage. There are no quick fixes.
Q: when are you suppose to use additive color mixing VS. subtractive color mixing?
i think this is the answer :-18/23 I'm not sure please.
Q: What is the differnce between additives and preservatives?
An Additive is anything that is added to food. This can be -- Colors Preservatives Vitamins Minerals Stabilisers Anti-oxidants Flow Agents Process Agents and others A Preservative is a special kind of additive that preserves the food. The popular preservatives are Pottasium Sorbate, Sodium Metabisulphite, S02 etc Normally the level of preservatives is around 150-300 ppm. The preservative preserves the food by retarding growth of Yeast, Moulds, Bacteria etc So all preservatives are additives, but all additives are not preservatives !! Additives can be Natural or Artificial. For example Natural Colors are graded as additives. Sugar and Salt are not additives as mentioned in one of the posts. They are food.
Q: I have a 50 gal reef tank whose pH is too low, about 8.0, I want the pH to go up to 8.3 - 8.4, and I have a safe additive to do that, but what is the equation to determine, based on the pH of the input solution, how much I would need, or what concentration of X volume of additive I‘d need to raise the 55 + X gallons to 8.3 pH ? FYI I‘m actually using this, Im not a college flake trying to get someone else to do my homework for me :D
The following information is required before anyone may be able to help you: (1) What is inside your reef tank with pH 8.0? (2) How many gallons of that is inside your reef tank? (3) what is the concentration of the stuff in your reef tank? (4) What is the additive you will use to adjust the pH? (5) What is the concentration of your additive?
Q: As in the fuel treatment/cleaners made by stp and brands like that? And does anyone who has experience using them actually see a performance boost?
Today's gasolines have additives in them. Using them are pretty much a waste unless you are trying to absorb water. All you would end up doing is putting deposits on your spark plugs.
Q: My 2002 E39 never burned any oil. All of a sudden it is starting to use 1 quart every 2 to 3 thousand miles. I dont see any drips so I am surmising it is burning it. A few days ago when I started the car a large cloud of smoke came out of the exhaust. I wiped the exhaust with my finger and it was oily. It only did this once but it seems coincidental. The car has 103,000 miles and is a Salvage Title so I don‘t want to throw a bunch of money in it. Is there an additive or perhaps another suggestion as to what I might check or do?
It is more than possible that you have poor quality Oil in the engine and that by changing it, and filter that the problem will immediately go away. I have had a similar worry in the past and it worked for me. Owner of 3 BMWs
Q: What is Additive mixing and Multiplative mixing in AM reception?
The two fundamental mixing modes are additive and multiplicative. Additive mixing is accomplished by adding the RF and Local Oscillator (LO) signals before applying them to a non-linear element. The large amplitude of the LO signal forces operation of the mixer device as a non-linear mixing element. Multiplicative mixing is accomplished when the RF and LO signals are applied to different terminals of the mixing element, with respect to a common terminal, such as in a double gate IGFET or a double balanced mixer (DBM). Additive mixing tends to yield a lower conversion gain, while multiplicative mixing with multi-electrode tubes tends to produce more noise unlike using a passive semiconductor DBM or DBM made with FETs which produce less noise.
Q: for my homework i have to find out what an additive is, please can you make it simple not dead complicated like on pedia
An additive is something that can be added to food to enhance its flavour, change its colour to make it more attractive, preserve it so that it has a longer shelf life or can even make the food more nutritious. For example, some cereals can contain added iron.
Q: i am doing a project on food additives and i need to know some pros. Also if you have any other useful facts about additives.
They make things taste better or last longer. They make food cheaper to produce. If you enjoy hyperactive children, then you can consider ADHD a pro.
