Q: today at the range i was hitting my short irons beautifully. then i started getting onto the 6, 5, and 4 irons and it all went down hill from there. does anybody have any ideas as to why i cant hit the long irons but i can hit short irons? any tips to help me out?any and all help is greatly appreciated :): I know exactly what you mean.it's hard sometimes to get everything working right at the same time. I find that when I'm having trouble with my long irons, it's caused by my tempo being off. In other words, I tend to rush my swing and/or try to swing too hard, resulting in either topping or chunking the shot. The other thing you might want to remember is to shift your weight as you swing. You didn't mention whether or not you're using hybrids, but if so, remember to shift your weight forward slightly as you swing.
