- Q: i had it done 2/3 months ago, it was fine at first but now on each end i have two lumps on my ear:S there relitavely smal...the size of like a really tiny pea.there really painfull and sore and quite red and sometimes they scab over with yellowy crust [yes i know sounds disguisting]im just a bit worried that its gone all weird or are these normal? am i cleaning it right?
- I had the same situation occur when I got my scaffold/industrial done. I wouldn't be too concerned. The lumps are called hypertrophic scars, and supposedly they are pretty common and are caused by overcleaning, harsh products, or (as I think was my case) general irritation from the jewelry moving repeatedly back and forth through the piercing or being bumped around or rubbed/touched. Mine lasted quite a long time. Try leaving your piercing alone for a couple of days. Then salt water solutions or compresses are supposed to help the lumps to heal, and I also used tea tree oil and neosporine intermittently. Hot compresses like a heated washcloth applied to the area help to reduce the lumps, as well. Sometimes it's recommended to try another type of jewelry, like titanium, or switch temporarily to two separate bars. You might also try finding a really gentle cleanser/soap. I just kept my original piercing, using the above techniques off and on, and after months of the lumps remaining red and sore, they just went away totally. Just keep your eye out for any pussing (hypertrophic scars ooze, but they don't usually pus), increased swelling, and the area feeling very hot- these are signs of infectiona nd you should see your doc right away. There is no liquid coming from it. It seems to have got worse today.I have been following the aftercare advice and cleaning it several times a day with rock salt solution and (up until yesterday) savlon antiseptic spray. Is it just irritated or is it infected? How long should I wait before I go to the doctor? If it is infected, will I have to take it out or just take antibiotics?Thanks!
- It's irritated. If it was infected, it would be oozing green or yellow gunk:) If it gets to that point, go to the doctor. Until then, just treat is regularly with salt solution:) Hope this helped!

- do you mean the part where she's on the scaffold with pearl when she's just born or when the three of them hold hands and then the priest has to leave? Well either way, the scaffold means embarrassment, it's like having to wear the A but being more upfront with people so you don't really have to explain yourself, everyone just knows. That's the reason, i forget his name, the priest that's pearl's father, goes up to the scaffold, because no one knows he secretly wears the A that's why going on the scaffold allows him to free himself of guilt, he wanted everyone to know so he would stop living in hidden pain but when pearl and her mother come, it makes it too real for him, he kind of wakes up, you could say, so he becomes too frightened and decides not to carry out his plan.

- Scaffold/Industrial piercings definately hurt more than a regular lobe piercings because it's in the cartilage area and its pierced at a larger gauge but the pain is bareable. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the worst pain) I would say an Industrial would be anywhere from a 4-6 depending on your pain threshold. Freezing it probably wouldn't be nessesssary. I got a 14g Industrial pierced on one ear and a 16g helix on the other both on the same day (the industrial was done first) and in my opinion the 16g helix hurt more. So it really depends on how well you tolerate pain

- i got mine (industrial) almost 8 years ago and it cost me $42. it hurt, they do it with one needle and just go straight across your ear. my mom nearly cried when she saw it. it feels really hot and sore after you get it and you have to constantly turn the bar in your ear to prevent infection and a keloid scar. i had a keloid scar on my ear from it and when i started working i was asked to take it out. it smells funny sometimes but i loved having it. kinda miss it now. good luck! xo
