- Q: How do flexible drives work? I want to transfer torque from one end of a flexible tube to another. I assume it uses some kind of very viscous continuum medium or a stack of flexible couple plates. Any book drawings, specs or book reference is what I am looking for. I couldn't find anything on Google. Thank you for your time and effort
- very stable. Blue (the cat) says that that's genuine sheep lie for all time. He says additionally that the pony become lie too. Farmers do all forms of unusual issues. yet maximum of all those ventriloquists are the very maximum threatening of all. you should stay faraway from them.. warning against old jokes and humorous animal jokes!!!!!. (guffawing) we are very happy with you. you're making us chuckle...
- Q: For a while the little plastic handle on my car's dipstick has been broken, some of the handle is still on the stick. Today as I was changing my oil I tried to get the dipstick out but couldn't, after some tries I accidentally chipped off a bit of the plastic, causing the dipstick to slide down 1 inch into the tube. I have read that this is not necessarily a problem, but I'm still worried. I tried extracting it by super gluing one end of a small rod to the dipstick but have had no success. How can I extract the dipstick without having to see a mechanic?
- Try getting some needle nose pliers and pull it out from the top that way. You could also try using one of those magnet on a stick things.
- Q: Just curious, when there is only a bit of toothpaste left, I have to squeeze little by little from bottom up. But then after using it, I'll have to do the same thing next time around. Obviously the toothpaste has to settle down the tube. Why and how does it do that?
- The plastic material has internal stresses that retain the shape it was cast in originally. Since it is attached to a round head it tends to form a sort of flattened cone. The toothpaste moves back up the tube to fill the available space as it is a type of really thick fluid. The shape may also lead to the toothpaste moving upwards due to capillary action (similar to how water moves up a very thin straw) To combat this effect, you can buy a little squeezy thing that rolls over the tube to prevent the toothpaste from moving backwards, or you can fold/bend it over as you use it like many people do. I store mine upright on the cap so the toothpaste settles at the end I squeeze it out of. The tube also uses less counter space when you store it upright as compared to laid over on its side.
- Q: Are plastic tubes easy to install?
- Yes, plastic tubes are generally easy to install due to their lightweight and flexible nature. They can easily be cut to the desired length and connected using fittings, making installation quick and hassle-free.
- Q: How do you seal plastic tubes?
- There are a few common methods to seal plastic tubes, depending on the specific requirements and materials used. One popular approach is heat sealing, where the open end of the tube is heated until it melts and then pressed together to create a tight seal. Another method is using adhesive or glue to bond the edges of the tube, ensuring it is securely sealed. Additionally, some tubes may come with pre-fitted caps or closures that can be easily snapped or screwed on to seal the contents.
- Q: How do plastic tubes compare to carbon fiber tubes in terms of strength?
- Carbon fiber tubes are generally stronger than plastic tubes. Carbon fiber has a high tensile strength and exceptional stiffness, making it an ideal material for applications that require lightweight and durable structures. Plastic tubes, on the other hand, have lower strength properties and are more prone to deformation and breakage under high loads. Therefore, in terms of strength, carbon fiber tubes have a significant advantage over plastic tubes.
- Q: Can plastic tubes be used for storing beverages or liquids?
- Yes, plastic tubes can be used for storing beverages or liquids. Plastic tubes are commonly made from materials such as polyethylene or polypropylene, which are safe for storing food and beverages. They are often used for packaging liquids like juices, soft drinks, or even cosmetic products. These tubes are lightweight, durable, and have good sealing properties, making them suitable for storing and transporting various types of liquids.
- Q: How do plastic tubes compare to stainless steel tubes in terms of corrosion resistance?
- Plastic tubes generally exhibit better corrosion resistance than stainless steel tubes. While stainless steel is known for its resistance to corrosion, it can still be susceptible to certain corrosive environments and chemicals. Plastic tubes, on the other hand, are typically highly resistant to a wide range of corrosive substances, making them more durable and suitable for various applications where corrosion is a concern.
- Q: My plan is to use a torch to heat a bronze 3/4 female thread and twist it into the plastic male piece, making a 3/4 male thread. The picture shows a 1/2 female bronze piece, but I plan to use a 3/4.Please help!
- go to the big box hardware and buy the correct adapter your plan to thread PVC pipe will weaken the pipe and can cause a leak or blow the end off the pipe at the worst possible 3am sleeping time == the correct adapter only costs less than one dollar ...
